Born On the Doctor's Day Off?

I was thinking about babies born by Cesarean Section and realized that most are probably born during Banker's Hours and never on Wednesdays because that's Golf Day. What this means astrologically is that they are probably all born while the Sun is above the Horizon in their charts. This indicates that they're all a bunch of little extroverts.

According to Wikipedia, 10-15 percent of births in developed countries are born by C-Section and in the United States in 2005 (where Extroversion is a heavily valued personality trait) 30.2 percent of the babies were born by cesarean. It sort of makes me wonder if all these new diagnoses of Autism are really just Introverts whose personalities just seem odd and out-of-place.

The Wikipedia article said "for unknown reasons, naturally-occurring labor happens between midnight and dawn." You can imagine how inconvenient this is for the Doctor's sleep so they like to schedule the births ahead of time as much as possible. Astrologically, it's interesting that babies decide to really start kicking right around the time that the Sun passes over the IC or bottom of the chart that represents Birth.

Women used to die from Cesarean. The operation was performed just to save the baby so this operation really is a miracle of modern medicine. But, An even truer miracle is the story of a woman in Mexico who gave herself a c-section in 2000 and survived. Ines Ramirez, 40 years old at the time, gave birth to her son, Orlando. She lives in a small village with no Doctors and had been in labor in so much pain she just couldn't handle it anymore. Her husband was out drinking at a bar and couldn't be reached. So Ines drank some rubbing alcohol, took a 6" knife, and performed the surgery on herself. She said it took about an hour. She removed the baby, passed out for a while, came to, cut the umbilical cord and sent her 6-year old son to get the village medic who came over and sewed her up as best he could with an ordinary needle and thread. Her husband was then retrieved from the Bar and they took her on a 2 1/2 hour trip to the nearest city where there was a hospital. Her bleeding had stopped and she suffered from no infection. The baby was fine. Really wild story.

Orlando Ramirez

b. Mar. 5, 2000 around 1 am Rio Talea, Oaxaca Mexico

Sun 16 Pisces; Moon 4 Pisces; ASC 16 Sagittarius; MC 21 Virgo; NN 4 Leo (H8)

Ines Ramirez said that she had been in labor for 12 hours. The Moon would have been passing over the MC at that point. March 5 was the New Moon in Pisces so just as the Sun and Moon hit the IC Ms. Ramirez grabbed the knife. Squaring this, Pluto and Chiron were in Sagittarius just rising over the Ascendant. Mars was in Aries trining Pluto-Chiron-ASC from the 5th house. Mars rules surgery and 5th house rules Children and man o man, I suppose you could say that this could have helped in guiding the knife. They say that Indian women give birth by leaning forward and that this somehow helped Mrs. Ramirez to avoid cutting into her intestines.

Also in Orlando's chart, Mercury is Retrograde and sandwiched in between the Sun and Moon. And Mercury is in Pisces which indicates why no one was around to help, even matches the story of how Dad was drinking at a Bar. It rules both the 7th House of partners and the MC of the Father. Both the 7th and 10th houses are empty. Mom just went ahead and handled the situation herself.

The Leo-Aquarius Nodes were being aspected by a square between Neptune in Aquarius and Jupiter in Taurus with Neptune conjunct the Aquarius South Node. This must have had something to do with the optimism that Mrs. Ramirez felt in giving birth. She tells of the conversations that she had with God while giving birth.

I looked at the Eclipses and noticed that there was a total Lunar Eclipse on Jan. 21, 2000 which maybe somehow foreshadowed this event. By coincidence, Mars was at 14 Pisces squaring Pluto-Chiron-Sagittarius ASC. This is 2 degrees away from the spot where the Sun was when Orlando was born. And, of course, Sagittarius Ascendant is ruled by Jupiter, the planet of plain old Good Luck.

Pluto in Sagittarius - Snake Charmers

While the Sun is in Sagittarius, I've been wanting to talk about Sagittarians and their built-in Charm but couldn't figure out how to segue in. Fortunately, CNN did it for me by posting a video of a 6-year old boy in Cambodia who has a pet Python. Literally the kid is a Snake Charmer. He rides the snake, kisses the snake, sleeps on the snake. And the snake seems to like it. 6-years old. Don't know what his birth data is but know he's gonna have Pluto in Sagittarius.

Here's the link to the video on National Geographic: http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/offbeat/2007/11/28/vo.boy.cambodia.snake.ap.

Get ready for a whole generation of these little Charm School Giants.

Cynthia Kenyon

Cynthia Kenyon would like to live to be about a hundred and fifty years old and although that's a ridiculous thing for other people to say it might actually be possible for Cynthia Kenyon. Ms. Kenyon is a Geneticist and Professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics at UC San Francisco who works with worms called C. elegans. In 1992 she discovered that by disabling a single gene, daf-2, she was able to double the lifespan of her worms. At last count, she is able to extend the lifespans of her little worms six-fold.

Of course, I'm dying to get her birth data but alas, alack, these experts on aging don't believe in giving out their own age. The Wikipedia bio on Kenyon says that she was born in 1955, circa 1955 so I guess that means "give or take a year." What-eveeerrrr! This certainly doesn't give me much to work on. Here are the outer planet placements for beginning and end of 1955. They were all in process of changing or about to change signs that year.

Jan. 1955
JU 27 Canc SAT 19 Sco URA 27 Can NEP 29 Lib PLU 27 Leo NN 6 Cap Chir 28 Cap

Dec 31, 1955
JUP 2 Virg SAT 29 Scor URA 2 Leo Nep 1 Scor Plu 29 Leo NN 18 Sagg Chi 4 Aqu

In 1992, Kenyon was maybe going through a Nodal Return, possibly even a Jupiter Return. If in Sagittarius it makes sense that she would work with creating youth. If in Capricorn it makes sense that she would work with Aging so I can't even discern the difference here. Kenyon is a University Professor which is Sagg's realm but College Professors are born every year so this doesn't necessarily indicate Academia. She follows a strict low carb diet and has found that Insulin plays a big role in aging in her worms so I only suspect that Venus and Saturn are strong in her birth chart.

In 1992, the significant event in the sky was the conjunction of Uranus and Neptune in Capricorn which is the sign of old age. Recent years have brought those two planets together in a Mutual Reception aspect which has probably been a boon for her research. And Pluto will now pass in to Capricorn and in a few years time trace over Uranus and Neptune's path and may bring Kenyon's research to new levels.

In 1992, Pluto was also in the spot in Scorpio where Saturn was in 1955 when Kenyon may or may not have been born. I bet that has a strong influence on her powers as a gene researcher. Pluto was strong in its own sign which is the sign of regeneration, of the Phoenix which is a mythological creature which dies and rises up from its own ashes, lord of the underworld.

It will certainly be interesting to see what happens during the t-square between Pluto, Saturn and Uranus that's coming with regards to Kenyon's work. Cancer is the sign of natural birth and babies and it will be absent from that formation. There will be a bunch of 180 year old earthworms walking around and no human babies. Now that's one for the Sci-fi channel.

Risk Calculator

While clicking onto another story about one of my favorites topics, how hand washing is so important for disease control, I linked a completely different health story about how the National Cancer Institute has revised their Risk Calculator for determining whether or not you will come down with Breast Cancer. Here's the link: http://www.cancer.gov/bcrisktool/. Have fun. Knock yourself out. 6 questions, nothing about diet, life style, or environmental factors, but don't get me going about this.

Astrologers should make little online Risk Calculators for people to fill out for their own charts for various topics. They're fun and look scientific. My Sister-In-Law is the only person I've known who had Breast Cancer, though, and she would have scored the same as I did. 1%, slightly less risk than the National Average. She passed away at Age 42.

Lewis & Clark

The upcoming election is reminding me of the last long trip I took in which I drove across the United States and seemed to be constantly crossing paths with the two Presidential Candidates, Bush and Kerry. There were Security and Media Helicopters flying over me and my "rig" a lot of the time. Meanwhile, on the ground I kept ending up on the path of the Lewis & Clark trail. Maybe the little green dots on my Rand McNally just naturally send you on the Lewis & Clark trail, I suppose that makes sense. This was the 200th Anniversary of the trek which is recorded as the first non-Native American trek all the way across the Continent. Wikipedia says some Canadian did it 10 years before this. Why don't we know about this? Don't the Canadians have P.R. persons? At any rate, I got to pass many of the pig farms, corvette conventions, Wal-Marts and Indian Medicine Wheels that Meriwether and Bill got to pass.

What am I talking about here? Oh yeah, briefly looked at the charts of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. Turns out they were both Leos born while Pluto was in Capricorn and both had Earth Grand Trines between the 3 outer planets. That seems like the perfect aspect for two Generals to have who were the first non-Native Americans to cross the Land. Their progressed Suns were in conjunction with the Grand Trine during their expedition.

Both Lewis & Clark had planets predominantly in Earth and Fire signs. Clark had nothing in Air and Lewis had singleton Uranus in Air. The little Water they had were in Cancer with Clark's singleton Mercury conjunct Lewis' Venus. That's a pleasant combination for two Leo Generals to have who need to bark orders. At least they could do it kindly to each other. When the expedition began the transiting South Node was conjunct this synastry conjunction.

Began Return trip, Mar. 23, 1806

Return to St. Louis, MO, Sept. 23, 1806

*********

Lewis' Sun in Leo with Moon in Capricorn is the signature for a General. Same as Napolean, even with the Grand Trine. Lewis' Grand Trine was really huge and may have included his Moon which may have been conjunct Pluto in Capricorn. Pluto trines Jupiter 16 Taurus (and also Uranus at 2 Gemini) on one side and a conjunction of Saturn-Neptune in Virgo on the other side.

In 1803 when the expedition started, Lewis' progressed Sun was at 25 Virgo conjunct his natal Saturn-Neptune. His progressed Mercury was conjunct natal North Node at 14 Virgo. And his progressed Venus was at 28 Leo just passed n. conjunction of Sun-Mercury. Great aspects for taking a long walk across the Country.

Clark's Sun in Leo with Sagittarius Moon and North Node is great for an Adventurer. His Moon may also have been conjunct his Jupiter at 15 Sagittarius Rx. His Progressed Sun was at 12 Virgo conjunct his Natal Venus-Neptune conjunction and hooking into his Grand Trine (Pluto in Capricorn trine Neptune-Venus in Virgo trine Uranus in Taurus).

The chart for the trip, stated on Wikipedia as having been begun at 11:00 am shows Sun at 8 Virgo, 13 Scorpio Rising with Neptune in the 1st House and the Nodal Axis conjunct the MC-IC axis also conjunct Venus at the MC and Moon at the IC. They were guided by Sacagewea during this trip and sent a live Prairie Dog to Thomas Jefferson. A really nifty aspect in this chart is the unaspected conjunction in Libra of Mars, Jupiter and Uranus in the 11th House ((by Ptolomaic aspect, many minor aspects). This seems to express the unbounded optimism and sense of adventure that would be necessary for setting out to unknown places.

Boom Chickee Boom - Social Security

Must have just seen an article about the First Baby Boomer who applied for Social Security benefits because I've been looking at her chart. The 1st Boomer is Kathleen Casey-Kirschling and she will receive her first check in February, 2008. One of the articles I read called these guys the "Silver tsunami" (Donna Smith for Reuters, Oct. 15, 2007). Teehee, aht's a good one.

Kathleen Casey-Kirschling

b. Jan 1, 1946 1 second after Midnight, Philadelphia, PA

Sun 11 Capricorn; Moon 15 Sagittarius; NN 30 Gemini

Boy, I look at this chart and I think this lady really wants to retire. She's a hard-working Capricorn but look at the first house Neptune and Jupiter; the Sagg Moon and a conjunction of Venus-Sun hanging over her IC. She wants to have fun. She wants to stay at home. Work? Bleh.... So she's retiring early. Good for her.

Kathleen has a conjunction of Out-of-bounds, Rx Mars and Rx Saturn in Cancer so this is the longest Mars in Cancer transit retrograde Return cycle of her life. Waiting and waiting and waiting for that check to come in February.... Watching the Market tank as she waits....

It's kind of interesting that her Progressed Sun and Prog. Moon will be celebrating a conjunction on her 6th House cusp. Kind of interesting that she's going into retirement with all a Progressed New Moon happening on the cusp of her House of Work. It's in Pisces and transiting Uranus will be on that point as well so I guess that explains the topsy turvy side of things. Maybe one should read her chart upside down or something.

Oh, and the Jupiter-Pluto conjunction in December is happening on her natal Sagittarius South Node which just happens to be the Ascendant for the Social Security Administration.

**********

The First woman to receive a Social Security check was Ida May Fuller. She had worked for only 3 years but received checks that paid a 22% return on what she paid into the fund. It helps that she lived to be a hundred years old, that's 35 years of checks. Wikipedia shows a picture of her. She looks just like Mary See, the chocolate lady.

Ida was born with natal Pluto and Neptune in Taurus, Uranus in Leo opposite Saturn in Aquarius. Those are all signs having to do with resources. This is the generation that finally tried to put an end to people going broke. Well, they had the Depression to spur them on, I guess. And they forgot to set it up so that all the rest of us Monkeys who follow would know how to keep it going.

Ida May Fuller

b. Sept. 6, 1874 Brattleboro, Vermont

Sun 14 Virgo; Moon Cancer or Leo; NN 28 Aries

Both Ida and Kathleen have hard Venus-Neptune aspects to each other and to the Nodes. Venus rules money. Rex Bills is in the car but I imagine that Neptune can partially rule retirement, definitely receipt of institutional funds. Kathleen's MC is included in the aspect so this is what she's "known" for.

*******

The Social Security Administration is a Leo. Wikipedia gives an actual time for the signing of the Social Security Act.

Social Security Act

signed Aug. 14, 1935 15:40 Washington, DC

Sun 22 Leo; Moon 26 Aquarius; ASC 26 Sagittarius

The Sun-Moon opposition places a Full Moon in the 8th and 2d houses respectively. How about them apples? Nothing better than 2d and 8th Houses for setting up a Trust Fund. They were really trying to get this stuff right. It's interesting that Jupiter and Pluto will be in conjunction on Social Security's Ascendant this December. Pluto moving into the First House could bring crises and also a big change to the funds. Either way, the neglect will no longer be overlooked.

Bush says that the Funds will be completely exhausted by 2041. Transiting Pluto will be right on top of the natal 2d house Moon and opposing the 8th House Sun. Saturn will be in Pisces just passing out of the 2d house and opposing Neptune in Virgo. Jupiter and Saturn will be in conjunction that year in Libra in the 10th house and Jupiter will be gearing up for a Return in Scorpio. I swear, Jupiter in Scorpio always has the most low key Returns.

Who knows? The chart actually has a Mystic Rectangle that includes a Natal Saturn-Neptune opposition with a sextile-trine to a natal Mars-Jupiter opposition to Uranus in Taurus. Maybe with Pluto & Jupiter transiting over the Ascendant someone will come along who knows how to keep the funds moving.

Moore's Law

This is a potentially interesting tidbit about Venus and its Retrograde Cycle. Venus goes Retrograde about every 18 months so this is considered a Cycle in Venus Land. Meanwhile, I've picked up a book at the Library called What We Believe But Cannot Prove: Today's Leading Thinkers on Science in the Age of Certainty edited by John Brockman. Since Astrology will never be proved and probably no one listed in this book believes in Astrology I wanted to see how preposterous their own thinking can get.

That's not very Venusian per se, but, under the listing for Charles Simonyi, a Computer Scientist for Xerox Corp Back In The Day, a strange cycle called Moore's Law is mentioned. It's not really a cycle, it's just something that seems to have happened in Computerland with the Semiconductors that says the world's computer capacity doubles every 18 months. A guy named George Moore mentioned it back in 1965 and it turns out he was right. Simonyi goes on to explain that computer software isn't written for this expansion pattern of computer hardware. He goes on to explain what he means and I'm about 1,000 IQ points short of ever being able to understand what he's talking about.

On the other hand, the 18-month Venus "Cycle" isn't really a cycle, it's just when Venus goes Retrograde, every 584 days. The actual Cycle occurs every 8 years, every 5th Retrograde when Venus returns to close to its original spot. And it involves a conjunction with the Sun.

Turns out Moore's Law goes back to it's creator who was also one of the founders of Intel. As mentioned already his name was George Moore. He published an article describing this phenomenal prediction on April 19, 1965 in a magazine (Electronics magazine I think?). Moore originally stated that computer capacity would double every two years, not every 18 months. He says so in the Wikipedia article. But the computer guys have done the math and have found this is an 18 month repeat thing. I wanted to take a look at his chart to see what's going on with his Venus. Turns out his Mars in Gemini is out-of-bounds and 2 years sounds more like a Mars Return thing. But his Venus transits and progressions seem to have been guiding him.

George Moore

b. Jan. 3, 1929 San Francisco, CA

Sun 13 Capricorn; Moon Libra or Scorpio; NN 30 Taurus

Moore has Uranus in Aries, unaspected. Uranus is Intuitive, good at predictions, and I swear to God the ruler of Cycles. It's also generally included in all things Computerlandish. Bill Meridien says in one of his online articles that Uranus stations predict the prices of Semiconductor stocks. (That article was from 2000.) So, it's interesting that Moore has a prominent Uranus.

(Just an aside, Moore also has Sun in Capricorn opposite Pluto just like the Federal Reserve Board, later degrees though, so maybe we should ask him where's he's got his $3 B invested).

So, Uranus has some say in the semiconductor world and it looks from the following transits/progressions in Moore's chart that Venus does too. During 1965, Moore's progressed Venus was 3 degrees past exact conjunction with his Uranus. Also, on the date of publication of this article, there was a t.Sun-Venus conjunction right on his natal Jupiter at 1 Taurus (ruled by Venus). Also, t.Jupiter was conjunct his North Node at the other end of Taurus (ruled by Venus). And he was about to have a Nodal Return of his Taurus North Node. The Uranus-Pluto in Virgo to Saturn in Pisces opposition was in effect but doesn't appear to have been affecting Moore's planets but it sure would be interesting to see how it was placed in his houses.

According to Ray Merriman Gold has some kind of an 18.5 month cycle and Crude Oil has an 18 month cycle. Venus traditionally rules Copper. Copper's heavily used in SemiConductors isn't it? If it is there's your Venus rulership of Semi-conductors.

Sleep and the Immune System

On average most people sleep between 11 pm and 7 am. At least this is when my neighbors are required by Law to turn down their stereos so that I, Sleeping Beauty, can enjoy the restorative powers of a good night's sleep.

I think it's interesting that at these hours the Sun is passing through the lower left quadrant of the chart. At Sun Up, the Sun is passing into the 12th house. What a Hell of a place for the Sun to be when you're trying to wake up. No wonder Coffee is ruled by Neptune and is Addictive!!! Gawd, I hate the way Society is set up.

Anyway, I found a book that says that getting sleep between the hours of 3am to 7am, when the Sun is passing through the 2d and then 1st Houses, is very important for normalizing one's immune system. Of course, the signs that will be in these houses change throughout the year and do not reflect individual charts.

The book is called The Healing Mind: The Vital Links Between Brain and Behavior, Immunity and Disease by Dr. Paul Martin and the quote below is about a study of the changes in the Immune Systems of AIDS patients who slept during these hours:

"Even modest disturbances in sleep patterns can bring about measurable changes in the immune system. A study of healthy male volunteers found that depriving men of sleep for a few hours between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. was enough to lower the immunological activity of their natural killer cells by more than a quarter. A good night's sleep returned it to normal." (p.70).

Normally, people are advised to charge ahead with activities when the 1st and 2d houses are activated. Maybe this is unhealthy and people should actually be advised to rest instead. It sort of makes sense that one's day would begin when the Sun rises above the Horizon. But 12th House, man, not the best time for organizing one's day that's for sure.

The Federal Reserve and Zero Point Energy

This isn't going to be much of an essay. It's going to be more like a panic attack. In my last blog I wrote that Einstein and some other guy came published the theory of Zero Point Energy which is being related as Scientific Proof that the Collective Unconscious exists among other things. This is super human cool. They wrote this in 1913 when Pluto was moving into Cancer.

Now, while looking for information about cycles related to something completely different I found Bill Meridian's essay about the Federal Reserve Bank (http://www.billmeridian.com/articles-files/fed-new.htm). The Federal Reserve Bank was set up in 1913. It's sort of like a Zero Point Energy field too. Meridian gives the chart for the Federal Reserve as Dec. 23, 1913 6:02 pm Washington, DC.

What your eye just goes straight to at this point is the opposition between the Sun and Pluto in this chart. They are at 1 Cancer and 1 Capricorn and squaring the Bank's Aries MC. What this means, in terms of where Pluto is today, is that when Pluto passes into Capricorn it will hit the Federal Reserve's Sun. This will also be a Pluto opposition and will square the MC/IC axis. This transit will be within a degree exactness and then it will last for a couple of years. Then, Saturn and Uranus will be slowly moving into opposition over this axis for the next couple of years.

That can't be good, can it? I mean, if you will remember back to my interpretation of Bob Newhart's chart, he had a similar lineup of planets on his angles when his career suddenly skyrocketed him to great fame and success. It just depends I guess if there are any trines. I don't think there are any big trines coming up. The opposition is in the 6th and 12th houses and not in the angular houses which might lessen the blow for now. With Pluto in the 6th house you're still being practical and you're not surrounded by enemies and incompetents.

Oh God. I'm feeling too psychotic to look it up right now. That's the problem with these God Damned transits, you never really know for certain. I mean, it certainly looks like our financial markets are tanking, and there was a similar t-square of Saturn-Uranus and Pluto during the Depression which was ushered in by a conjunction of Jupiter-Pluto in 1930, so.....

I guess Bill Meridian's now a big gun and you have to pay tons of dollars to read what he writes. He's got an interesting article about how the Country's deficit was never in surplus, just the funds were wiggled around via the Social Security Trust Fund.

"The Field" by Lynne McTaggart

I'm in the middle listening to the audiobook version of The Field by Lynne McTaggert. It's really exciting. McTaggert talks about the Scientists and Paranormal Researchers who have been slowly finding some credible Scientific links between Our World and the Great Beyond. I've had a couple of "psychic" experiences in my life and in them I felt exactly what she describes. That we tool around on another plane of existence at the same time that we're toiling around in our earthsuits. This other plane hooks into the collective unconscious and informs most of what we earthlings do.

The whole idea started in 1913 when Albert Einstein & Otto Stern published an article on Zero Point Energy. From what I can gather this is the lowest possible energy a system can have. It's sort of thought of as a way of hooking into free, or almost free energy through the Zero Point Field. As a coincidence, Pluto was just moving into Cancer that year. As Cancer rules the 4th house and the bottom of the chart, rules beginnings and endings of life, I think it's interesting that Pluto moving into it would dredge up a way of hooking into an extremely low energy level existence.

Some Scientists, Psychiatrists and Doctors have been finding some interesting connections which bring up the idea that humans actually link into this field on a psychic level. For example, that our memory is actually not held within our brains, rather it's held on this field. I wish I could hook into the Field right now because I seem to remember that there is a Platonic Dialogue in which Socrates proves a point about Intelligence by coaxing an illiterate Servant boy into performing a complex Mathematics equation. I was trying to find it the other day in a bookstore and lost interest, I think I got distracted by an article on Britney Spears.

Last night I hit the spot in the recording where Lynne Taggart brings up the question of whether Time is linear or maybe....circular....hence the premature astroblab before I've actually finished the book. I don't understand science so anything I say concerning Science is very likely wrong.

Lynne Taggart is wonderful to listen to. She sounds just like Martha Stewart after Martha bakes hashish into her brownies and eats a couple. I strongly recommend this Audiobook. It might be an abridged version of the book which is a bit of a drag. I saw the book in a store a while ago and was interested in a mention of Solar flares and their influence on earth. I haven't made it to that point yet. Maybe I've got the wrong book.

Here's a list of some of the geniuses mentioned. Can't find a birth date for many. Fie!!! So far this certainly looks like a Mutable Sun Sign thing involving the Cancer/Capricorn Aries Point.

Hey Baby, What's Your Sign? Gobble, Gobble, Gobble!!!

When a Turkey "Gobbles" it means that he's horny and wants to have Sex. As a matter of fact, the Boy Birds start gobbling at 5 in the morning just like the Human Boys.

According to the article linked below Wild Turkeys' hormones go crazy the minute the ice begins to melt in February. They run around flailing feathers and doing the deed, springtime delight. The females generally get pregnant at the first pass but they have Sex multiple times anyway. What else is there to do until the daffodils sprout?

Mom lays the eggs and sits on them for 6 weeks. Then, 24 hours after the eggs hatch she's out of there. Sitting there for 6 weeks, no TV, nothing, that's Dedication. She just needs to get up and run around. The kids can fend for themselves.

That makes me wonder: What Sign are the Turkeys?

Turns out most Wild Turkeys are born between May 20 and June 10. That means that almost all Wild Turkeys are Geminis. That certainly explains their verbosity and widely quoted Mating calls.

So, when your weird Uncle Al walks up to you today and pinches your ass and says Gobble, Gobble, Gobble laughing his chipped, yellow teeth off .... the blood just drains out of my face thinking about it.

Whatcha Readin?

Just heard an interview on NPR, don't know what show it was. A woman was interviewing a Literary Critic about Beowulf which has just come out in a movie. If I didn't have a cold I would have gone to see it this week-end. This Critic is totally fascinating; his name is Michael Dirda and he's just published a book called Classics for Pleasure. It appears that he can bring all this old dead stuff back to life. So I had to look ...... you know the drill ....

Michael Dirda

b. Nov. 6, 1948 Lorain, Ohio // This is probably not his real birth date; the chart is really fascinating nevertheless.

Sun 15 Scorpio; Moon Capricorn or Aquarius, probably Capricorn; NN 5 Taurus

So Dirda said that he reads or writes about Literature for 8 hours a day, just like a normal job. He says that he reads slowly and mouths the words while he reads. He's read absolutely everything. And he says that he has abnormally good memory retention for what he reads.

Dirda has Sun in Scorpio squaring Pluto so this shows a focused, driven character. Scorpio's good for bringing old dead literature back to life. This is a guy who can finish a book. Imagine that. Capricorn Moon in combination with that Plutonian stuff shows a whole lot of determination and strong self motivated work ethic. This is somebody who wants to understand a story at its deepest level. In the Corporate World this is called understanding the Bottom Line and Talking Brass Tacks. In the intellectual world it means that he understands story structure and will dig to understand human motivation.

When Dirda speaks he has a calm friendly voice. His Mercury is in Libra very well placed trining Uranus at 1 Cancer and sextiling Jupiter. That shows all systems "Go" in the brains department. Jupiter's at 29 Sagittarius opposite Uranus here, both on Aries Points which brings his mental prowess before the public. I think that Uranus has more to do with Memory than it's given credit for and here in Cancer, the sign that rules the past it must be pretty powerful. Mercury might be squaring his Moon which might in turn be out of bounds. I have no idea how that affects one's Memory. I'd imagine that one would enjoy the challenge of holding on to as much as one could mentally with this aspect. The out of bounds part would just emphasize these qualities.

Two more things are really cool about Dirda's chart. For one, his Mars and Jupiter are both in Sagittarius. They are not in conjunction but they are Parallel. And they are contraparallel to Uranus in Cancer and Pluto in Leo. I've never seen so many planets in Parallel/Contraparallel to each other. If you think of Mars-Jupiter-Uranus and Pluto all in conjunction with each other you certainly envision a powerhouse of a person. Someone who can accomplish something on a massive scale. And this guy has read everything. I mean everything. Interesting that he's read all the Epic Literatures. And he brings it down to human level like describing how the Icelandic Sagas are Northern Europe's versions of Spaghetti Westerns. Who wouldn't want to look into that? I mean, this is what Scholars are supposed to be able to do. He can even fake like he's not a snob, I guess that's the Libra Mercury and Uranus.

Then the next cool thing are Dirda's current Return Transits. He's got a wide, out of element Grand Trine between North Node in Taurus and Jupiter in Sagittarius and Saturn in Virgo. Right now he's going through both his Jupiter and Saturn Returns so the whole thing is set off like a pinwheel. I suppose you'd have to know what houses they're in to guess what that means. Something with career? Probably everyone in the Universe heard him being interviewed tonight. I mean, the Martians, everyone. And we're all going out to buy penguin editions of the Norse Myths tomorrow. Really, he said there's a character in there who never smiles except when he's about to go into battle. Clint Eastwood is probably going to make a movie... I'm so excited.

Which End is Up

Just can't help myself. With the reds of my eyes burning bright I write this....

Suddenly, I realized that there were an awful lot of artists in the 20th Century whose Biggest contribution was painting Squares. And what Squares they were! Beautiful studies of Spirituality that returned Art to the ideas of Simplicity, Color, Paint, Space, Depth. No ornamentation. No pretense. The pictures really speak for themselves (I still don't know how to add pictures dang it all), but if you are interested in the symbolisms and philosophies of the square shape please wiki the brains out of it.

I've looked at 4 of these artists, the ones I could think of, to see if there's anything in particular that would indicate a need to reduce their expressions down to a very simple shape. And of course I was looking for Grand Squares, especially since all 4 lived through the First World War in Europe and had suffered from that experience. One common factor I found was that the progressed Sun or Venus changed Signs in their charts at the time of their new creation. So this seems to be a personal experience involving a shift in expression which completely fits for that aspect. I mean it's obviously born of the times in which non-objective art was in its infancy, but I wonder if they would have hooked into it so easily.

I found that two started painting their squares during the same years between 1912-15, one in Russia, one in Netherlands. This was just as World War I broke out. The other two started painting their squares in 1948 in the U.S. Also of interest is that 3 out of the 4 guys I looked at were Pisces Suns. On the wikipedia article for Malevich, someone wrote that curators still don't know how to hang his paintings because they don't know which end is up. Only a Pisces would leave it like that.

Here they are, Masters of the Squares:

Kazimir Malevich, Russian Suprematist

b. Feb. 23, 1878 Kiev, Russia

Sun 5 Pisces, Moon Scorpio or Sagittarius; NN 23 Aquarius

Malevich was refused from Art School multiple times. He painted Icons and developed a need to express his spirituality through art. He also sympathized with folk art. The geometric shapes were a spiritual search for pure essence. The first ones were Black and White, then White on White...

Great Chart for an Artist. Sun c. Venus RX in Pisces. This conjunction is sextile Neptune-Chiron in Taurus; opposite Uranus in Leo; square Pluto in Taurus. He may have a Grand Square between Sun-Venus-Uranus-Pluto and Moon. In 1913-15 when he painted his famous painting "Black Square" he was going through his Jupiter Return and his Prog. Venus was changing signs from Aquarius into Pisces and was conjunct natal Venus. All Four have Venus in hard aspect to Pluto, most have it also in aspect to Uranus and Neptune.

Piet Mondrian

b. Mar. 7, 1872 Amersfoort, Netherlands

Sun 18 Pisces; Moon Aquarius; NN 18 Gemini

The geometric shapes were a way of reducing the known world down to its essence. You can see the progression of how he developed this vision in his representational paintings of landscapes. Ended up painting only mostly in primary colors with Black and White. And Mondrian never reduced all the way down to one single shape.

Venus at 14 Aquarius trining NN and maybe conjunct Moon. Venus square Pluto 19 Taurus.

In 1913-15 his progressed Sun was just moving into Taurus.

In 1915 there was a conjunction of Uranus to the North Node in Aquarius, a very avante-garde aspect. This was conjunct Mondrian's n.Venus and Malevich's natal Mercury.

Josef Albers

b. Mar. 19, 1888 Boltrop, Westphalia

Sun 30 Pisces; Moon Gemini; NN 9 Leo

Venus 30 Aquarius conjunct Mercury square Neptune 28 Taurus conjunct Pluto 4 Gemini.
Two Grand Trines:
Venus Aquarius-Mars Libra-Chiron Gemini & Jupiter Sagittarius-Sun Aries-Saturn Cancer.

Started creating endless series to observe Color Relationships in 1949. Progressed Sun moving from Taurus to Aries.

Mark Rothko

b. Sept. 25, 1903 Daugavpils, Latvia

Sun 2 Libra; Moon Scorpio or Sagittarius; NN 7 Libra

Sun conjunct NN in Libra squaring Neptune.
Grand Square: Venus Rx Virgo-Jupiter Pisces-Pluto 21 Gemini-Uranus 22 Sagittarius.

Mother died in October. 1948. Started painting in signature style of rectangular blocks that Winter. Strong spiritual intent to his paintings. Made them huge in order to surround the viewer with pure experience. Built a chapel in Texas for some of them.

Mars in Cancer

Whew, this is going to be a long Mars Retrograde for me. I probably won't be posting very much on this blog. Mars in Cancer always gets me in my eyesight so looking at a computer screen is really not a very healthy thing for me to be doing. If I went to the eye doctor right now he'd probably screw a couple of coke bottle bottoms to my face and tell me to go see a shrink. When I was a kid I actually went blind for a few days during a Mars in Cancer transit because my Father had just left and things in my family were getting pretty creepy.

So, I've decided to get a little gung-ho about some research I'm doing on astrology of kids from Divorced Families. I've started another blog and may eventually share the link. Maybe not. I don't know.

Hey, who's that moody, blind bitch sitting there squinting at the computer?

Whoopi Goldberg

Happy Birthday Whoopi Goldberg One of My Favorite Comedians In the Whole Wide World!

Whoopi Goldberg

b. Nov. 13, 1955 12:48 pm New York, NY

Sun 21 Scorpio; ASC 20 Aquarius; Moon 13 Scorpio; MC 7 Sagittarius; NN 19 Sagittarius

Wow, this is a weird chart. Whoopi's one of those people who isn't what she seems; but, she'd probably be the first person to admit it. It seems that Whoopi's almost like two different people who are nevertheless on the same mission in life. She has a very strong square aspect inside a very strong trine aspect which binds up all her planets into a Bundle Pattern which shows that she has a lot of enthusiasm, drive and luck for focusing on whatever she wants.

I have to admit it, I was sort of shocked when I first looked at the chart (astrotheme). First thing I noticed was the need for control. Whoopi's got Sun conjunct Moon and Saturn in Scorpio. Saturn is also squaring a conjunction of Jupiter and Pluto in Leo, H7. She's basically a Human Torpedo; there's such a strong will and drive here. But Scorpio is sensitive and low-key, it doesn't work by pushing and shoving. And Scorpio needs intimacy. Occasionally, Whoopi has to go through complete restructurings in her life as this combination will give an all or nothing attitude.

Scorpio likes Intimacy and, as all but one of the planets is above the Horizon in her chart,Whoopi just happens to like to be intimate with at least 10 million viewers at the same time. And with a Jupiter-Pluto conjunction in the 7th House the 10 million viewers are strongly attracted right back at her. There's a "Pizaaz" vibe to the Jupiter-Pluto conjunctions. The way this intense fixed square works is to cover itself up (Scorpio) while exposing itself (Leo). Scorpio works in private behind the scenes at the same time fuels the wild, zany Sagittarius-Aquarius combinations in her chart.

With Aquarius Rising and Sagittarius Midheaven, Whoopi's intellectual and humanitarian sides are what are shown to the Public. She's friendly and uplifting, salt of the earth and liberal. This is doubly emphasized as all of Whoopi's planets are bound up in a Bundle Shaped chart that's bordered by Venus-MC in Sagittarius on one end and her chart ruler, Uranus, in the 6th House on the other end. Whoopie dresses casually, a free spirit, doesn't like anything constricting. I actually watched a tape of the episode of The View where the other ladies convince her to wear a bra. She's got a Libra Mars that's basically unaspected except for a trine to her Ascendant. So the drive to be fair and to look at all sides of an issue are especially important to her. I sure hope she doesn't end up modeling for Victoria's Secret next but if she does Heidi Klum had better watch her skinny ass. Whoopi is one who has the courage to rampage through any taboos or boundaries.

Techno Weather Dance

Here's a link from "The Plank" blog published by The New Republic Magazine. It's called "Here come the Weather-Makers." http://blogs.tnr.com/tnr/blogs/the_plank/archive/2007/11/11/make-way-for-the-weather-makers.aspx.

50 Scientists convened to discuss ways to stop Global Warming by messing with the Weather. I've been wondering if this would happen ever since I read somewhere that we really, really need for a big volcano to blow up in order to let off some steam and buy some time to figure out how to stop the CO2.

It seems that the t-square that's coming up between Pluto, Uranus and Saturn on the Aries Points might bring something like this. The Cancer Aries Point will be the odd man out here so it won't be a time for the emotionally squeamish, or the Environment either.

The 5th Element - Escoffier

High School Biology Class was a long time ago, basically a figment of my imagination at this point. That's when I learned that my tongue has 4 sets of taste buds: salty, bitter, sweet and sour. There's a Fifth Flavor now, though, that's how old I am. Turns out we have Genes that are constantly yearning looking for a little protein called Glutamine that it wants to lock on to the end of its chain. Glutamine is considered the 5th Flavor. This Taste Sense is called "Savory" or "Umame." It's the Milla Jovavich of the Taste Receptors. It is Delicious. It is Deliciousness.

I learned this because I went to a book signing last night for a Science Writer named Jonah Lehrer. He has written a book called Proust was a Neuroscientist where he discusses instances where Creative people have figured out basic scientific ideas through their work that are in turn discovered by Scientists many years later.

Lehrer talked about the discoveries of Auguste Escoffier, the great French Chef of the 19th Century. Escoffier's two great contributions to Cooking involved development of cooking techniques involved in ramping up the flavor glands to maximum capacity. His broths took 12 hours to create through constant stirring and reducing until the liquid was condensed down to the most intense flavor possible. His sauces were created from the leavings in the pans after the food had been cooked.

With Mouth watering & Nostrils flaring, I sat at the talk wondering if Escoffier were a Scorpio. The guy just sounds so intense. All the emphasis on flavor and intense concentration and distillation and unremitting labor to extract the greatest sensation possible seemed totally Scorpionic. I mean you walk into most restaurants these days and you smell close to nothing.

Auguste Escoffier

b. Oct. 28, 1846 Villeneuve-Loubet (near Nice), France

Sun 5 Scorpio, Moon in Aquarius, NN 29 Libra

Yes! Escoffier's Sun was in Scorpio. It could be squaring his Moon. If not, it is unaspected expect for a wide conjunction to his Libra North Node. Determined, isolated Scorpio endlessly stirring that pot to capture its essence, a Scorpio Sun completely and utterly unaspected.

But then, it is the Libra North Node in this chart which is truly awe-inspiring. Escoffier opened and ran the Ritz and Carlton Hotels so he was in the Leisure Business, a Libra past-time. His North Node is conjunct Venus and Mars in Libra and this conjunction is opposing his Pluto in Aries, trining his Saturn-Neptune conjunction in Aquarius (maybe also Moon) and trining Jupiter in Gemini. Mars is also opposing Uranus in Aries. Libra is the sign of pleasure and the two planets of Love are locked together here with his North Node in that sign and aspecting the Wisdom of all the outer planets. Now, this is the foundation that all good Science should be based on.

Jonah Lehrer, who is an editor for SEED Magazine has a really interesting blog called "The Frontal Cortex."

Shut yer Gub!

OMG! The King of Spain is sooooo much fun! Who knew? Now this is a guy who really goes all out at the Scorpio New Moon.

News reports say that King Juan Carlos of Spain has been throwing a little get together for the leftist leaders of Latin America. He apparently lost it and barked out a nifty "Shut Up!" to Hugo Chavez of Venezuela who was interrupting somebody's speech. He was calling someone a Fascist, guess it came out sounding like a Hot Air. It turns out that Chavez's North Node is conjunct the King's Capricorn Sun. In Reincarnation terms maybe that means that Someone is going to be Someone Else's Father in a next life.

I Googled "Shut Up" in Spanish and came up with "Callate!" Don't know if that's accurate. As I've said before my brother says that the Spaniards name all their swear words after meats and vegetables. This isn't really a swear word, more like putting the Brakes (Saturn) on an out-of-control situation.

King Juan Callate! Carlos of Spain

Jan. 5, 1938 Rome, Italy 1:15 pm

Sun 15 Capricorn; ASC 20 Taurus; Moon 26 Aquarius; MC 29 Capricorn; NN 4 Sagittarius

Mercury 1 Capricorn Rx squaring Saturn 30 Pisces. Them be Aries Points Folks. Add to it progressed Mercury which is at 3 Aries just past conjunction and square with the natal configuration. And then add to this transiting Venus at 1 Libra (AP as well) opposing and squaring Mercury-Saturn you've got a guy who just want you to either say it pretty or "Shut Up!". The Western Press has been waiting for this moment for, like, ten thousand years already. Venus is His Highness' Chart Ruler. Looks like his Mercury-Saturn square was playing PaPa Bear to Chavez' Baby Bear conjunction in Cancer (opposite Juan Carlos' Sun).

Add to this the New Moon which was opposing His Highnesses' natal Uranus and Blammo! The Devil Made Him Do It! (t.Pluto is a couple of degrees away from Juan Carlos' Mercury as well).

Fuel Spill in San Francisco Bay

On Wednesday a Fuel Barge passing through the San Francisco Bay hit one of the supports of the Bay Bridge and starting leaking fuel into the Bay. Much of the Wildlife in the area has been saturated with the stuff and a major recovery effort is going on to try to save as much as possible. Most of the beaches along the Bay are closed down. The Pilot of the ship is around 60 years old so he's just past his 2d Saturn Return. He received a citation just last year and one in 1997 and although he's been piloting ships for a long time it looks as if maybe his age is somehow affecting his job performance. Here's a link to a good astrology article yesterday: http://stellarinsights108.blogspot.com/2007/11/oil-spill-in-sf-bay.html. I looked at the chart and couldn't find anything that really stands out until I compared rulerships from Rex Bills. Here are some notes.

Barge hits Bridge, leaks massive amounts of fuel into San Francisco Bay

Nov. 7, 2007 8:20am San Francisco

Sun 15 Scorpio; 4 Sagittarius Rising; Moon 21 Libra; NN 5 Pisces

Leaks are ruled by Neptune. Oil and Gas are also ruled by Neptune. The North Node is in Pisces in the 3d House and was squaring the Ascendant. The South Node is in Virgo in the 9th house of Shipping. The Fourth House of Environment is empty but is ruled by Neptune. The Sun is conjunct the 12th house cusp and is squaring Neptune.

Ships; Shipping are ruled by: Moon, Neptune, Pisces, 9, Sagittarius, Jupiter

Sagittarius is Rising in this chart and ruler, Jupiter, is in the 1st House conjunct Pluto (crisis). The 9th House is ruled by the Sun (which is in H12 of Leaks) which disposes to Pluto which is conjunct Jupiter, ruler of the Chart and of Ships. They are in the 1st House about to rise over the chart.

Bridges are ruled by H3, Pluto, Saturn, Neptune.

Neptune is in the 3d House along with the North Node, Chiron and Uranus. Once again the Neptune-Uranus mutual reception strikes. Saturn is widely opposing Uranus from H9 of Ships.

The Grand Trine between Sun, Mars and Uranus. These planets in hard aspect are connected with Accidents. (Mars, Urnaus (H1, Aries, H3). Here they are in Water Signs and Water Houses and the Accident happened on the Water.

Jupiter rules the Chart here and is in the 1st House conjunct Pluto.

All Hands

Mercury is all hands, whether manually dexterrosing those pliers around the Water Heater as it explodes water all over the Carpet or while kicking down the Door of a Public Restroom to exit without handling the scabbous, pussy door handle like a germophobic Virgo. A while ago, I read through one of those list type internet articles about this subject. This particular list claimed to disclose 12 of the germiest places in the Country, but it was sort of a trick catch line; the article only actually listed 10 places and they weren't really places in the country at all, mostly places in your home. (No link to the article either). I do remember that the #1 armpit of the Nation was your kitchen sink. They said that the average Kitchen Sink in America has more germs than the average toilet in America. I know that we Americans think that our shyte doesn't stink but this is ridiculous. Isn't It???? What we put into our mouths is dirtier than poo. Boy, that was a weird article but I believe every word of it, they actually provided Germ Counts for each filthy thing they listed and you can't argue with the numbers.

But, now I'm confused. Was my Mother washing my Mouth out with soap when I was a kid because of what I said or because of what I ate? cruddy joke but just can't help myself, heheh.

What I'm trying to say here is that the article said that about 80 percent of the germs that you pick up are transmitted from off your hands. (Germs are ruled by Pluto, by the way, according to Bills) I think there's something to this. I mean, I can't put a percentage point to the cases but, man, the things we grab with our hands. The hands go everywhere, like rabid bats screeching through the night. The feet don't have to do that kind of probing. The article compared amounts of germs found on door knobs and toilet seats and sinks.

So, here comes, this is really dumb: hands are ruled by Gemini which is ruled by Mercury. And Hygiene is ruled by Virgo which is ruled by Mercury. Mercury is doing its own self in here.

And here's a solution. And it's really far-out. Maybe if we rearranged the signs of the Zodiac so that Gemini and Virgo trine each other in the Horoscope rather than square each other we could eradicate Communicable Diseases from the World by 80 percent. They say that what you think is what you are, after all, so we should fix these problems within the general circle of things.

Hollywood Writer's Strike

Sigh. It's the middle of the night and all my Magic TV boyfriends are in re-runs. No Leno. No Letterman. No Fergusson. No Conan. This is why Stephen Colbert had to cut short his Political Campaign for President!!!! Hollywood's writers are striking for the first time since 1988. At that point the Industry was crippled for 5 1/2 months. I didn't have a TV back then so I don't remember it personally, but I believe the strike occurred March to August, 1988. What kind of cyclic Hell is this? Hmmm, that's slightly less than 20 years -- a Nodal Return? Yup. The North Node was in Pisces, sign of the Film Industry and Hollywood and Glamour and the South Node was in Virgo, one of the signs of Writers and of Labor Unions.

Also currently in Virgo, we've got Saturn who, according to Rex Bills, is co-ruler of Labor and Labor Unions. And just in its infancy is an opposition from Saturn to Uranus in Pisces. Uranus rules Strikes (along with H12, Scorpio, H6). We can see the beginnings of this in other more important events, it seems to not just be a problem for Hollywood. Many countries across the Globe are in Military Lock-Down due to people protesting against their Governments. Pakistan, Myanmar, Venezuela, and of course the Middle East. The U.S. ought to be protesting its Government but we're so flacid at this point there's nothing'll get us off the couch. Well, you take our Comedy Talk Shows away, we might get a little peeved. As the Stock Market has begun to sink I'm also remembering the big Stock Market crash that happened in Oct. 1987. And then when we look at the outer planet transits we see some ugly similarities... Gawd, Good Thing that Anderson Cooper can ad-lib on his own.

First of all, we can't blame this on some inner planet retrograde. We're just coming out of Mercury Rx and going into Mars Rx so I thought maybe this is so. Just a blip and Leno will be back by next Monday and the market is only tanking because the Hollywood Writers are selling some stocks to tide themselves over. But another possible connection is the Saturn-Uranus opposition that is just forming now. Currently it is in the same sign as the Nodes, Virgo and Pisces and it's more long term.

Back in March, 1988, Saturn and Uranus were in conjunction in Capricorn and Rx'd back into Sagittarius at the spot where Pluto is right now. Jupiter will be in conjunction at this spot also in December. This certainly shows a Mutable Sign emphasis without Gemini's sweet presence. The lead sign for Writers and Contracts is missing from the equation.

Contracts are co-ruled by Libra the Negotiators. Get us some Libras fast!! Shoot, Libra Dennis Kucinich tried to oust Cheney this week but failed. And No One around to make us laugh about it before the Tylenol PM knocks us out at night.

Boy, I don't know ... Pluto is going to be joining Saturn & Uranus in 2010. Who needs Hollywood writers when "Mad Max" is running through your own backyard for real?

Humpback Whales

New Research by Australian Scientists has found that Humpback Whales communicate with at least 34 distinct sounds. This article describes the variety from Male Mating Calls to Warning Sounds, just like human vocabulary: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20071108/sc_nm/australia_whales_dc.

What are the Humpback Whales' Signs? Guess it depends what Hemisphere they live in. Whales mate during the Winter Months wherever they live and their Gestation period is 11.5 months. So, it looks like we've got Scorpio to Aquarius Singers (Sagittarians do like their Showtunes) up in the Northern Latitudes and Gemini to Virgo Singers (Leos do like their Opera) in the Tropics.

The Mars Effect

The Mars Effect is Astrology's most reliable argument for validity. It was first discussed by Michel Gauquelin in a book that he published in 1955 called The Influence of the Stars. Gauquelin was a French Statistician/Scientist who also studied Astrology. He found that the placement of Mars in the charts of professional Athletes often showed up just above the Horizon or at the top of the Chart near the Midheaven. Gauquelin found similar evidence that the Moon was similarly related in the charts of writers but this work hasn't been replicated.

I thought I'd take a look at Gauquelin's own personal Mars placement to see if there were any signatures for why he might be so in tune with Mars. He was a professional athlete himself.

Michel Gauquelin

b. Nov. 13, 1928 10:15 pm Paris, France

Sun 22 Scorpio; ASC 16 Leo; Moon 8 Sagittarius; MC 2 Taurus; NN 1 Gemini Rx

First of all, I have to point out the nice Minor (Earth and Fire) Grand Trine here.

Neptune (Astrologer) in Virgo (Statistics) (H1)
trine Jupiter in H10 (Scholar) in Taurus-Taurus (Numbers) MC
trine Venus in Sagittarius (Scholar/worked with Wife Francoise) (Ruler of MC).

Now for Mars. First I'd like to point out that the Midheaven is what you're known for. Gauquelin's MC is at the beginning of Taurus. If you move it over just a skosh it'll end up in Aries, ruled by Mars. I know that this is the chart of a World Renowned Astrologer and one never monkeys around with such a thing, but still, wouldn't it be great if we could just say that the Mars Effect Guy had an Aries Midheaven? Ah, come on....

At any rate, Gauquelin was born with a really wild Mars. It's placed, no wonder, in the 11th House conjunct a 12th house Pluto, pretty much where he found the Mars in the Athletes' charts that he studied. Mars is at 10 Cancer Retrograde and it's out-of-bounds which further magnifies its power here. Mars in Cancer alone is an emotionally volatile aspect, shared by many brilliant artists who seem to have a great intuitive talent. (Somebody pointed out once that Mozart and Brahms both shared Mars in Cancer and Moon in Sagittarius, for example). This placement would certainly give great Will Power as well as Psychic Attunement.

Gauquelin spent his whole life with Mars Retrograde by Progression because it was stationing when he was born. So, Mars In Cancer and conjunct Pluto. That's combustible enough but combined with the Retrograde and Out-of-Bounds. No wonder he worked out his problems through physical exercise, there's an emotional (Cancer) need for an outlet for this Physical (Mars) Power (Pluto). It also supplies the drive to be the Man who found the one link between science and astrology through athleticism.

Unfortunately the emotional side of these aspects had the final say. Gauquelin committed Suicide in May, 1991. Pluto and the Sun were running sort of a Tri-fecta in his chart:

T.Pluto was in Scorpio conjunct his Sun. And this was trining t. South Node and natal Pluto. The Transiting Sun was conjunct his North Node. As the Sun rules his Chart and Pluto rules his Sun this is a triple whammy on the signs that were most important to him. (Neptune at that point was conjunct the North Node along with Uranus which really drives it all Home).
There are some Moon aspects as well: Prog. Moon in Pisces squaring n. Saturn. T. Moon c. Ascendant.

And, of course, as one should expect, t.Mars was rising over his Ascendant in his 12th House; Gauquelin was just past his Mars Return. Mars came out of progression in Gauquelin's chart in 2002-3. This seems to correspond with the rise of interest in Statistics along with computer and internet usage in Astrology.

The Goddess Lakshmi

Lakshmi Tatma is India's latest Goddess. She's a little 2-year girl who was born connected to a twin body that only partly formed. Lakshmi has two sets of arms and legs and today has started going through an operation to have the limbs removed. The last report I read has said that the limbs are already successfully removed and her pelvis bones were currently under reconstruction.

The Doctors are working in 8 hour shifts starting at 7am today and expect that the operation could last as long as 40 hours. They began to anesthetize Lakshmi at 7am just as the Scorpio Sun was rising over the Scorpio Ascendant. (12th House Sun is a great placement for going under anesthesia, I just went through it myself.) I used the animation feature on Solar fire to forward the clock ahead in 8 hour increments and it turns out that the Grand Water Trine that is currently happening between the Sun, Mars in Cancer and Uranus in Pisces rotates around so that one of these planets is always placed just above the Horizon in this spot. Mars rules Surgery/Cutting and Uranus rules Individuality/Independence so this seems like a really great aspect for gaining freedom from one's co-joined twin while also receiving protection (Grand Trine).

Lakshmi was born in a rural town in Northern India and is thought to be Divine like the 4-armed Indian Goddess Lakshmi, Goddess of Wealth. I've actually read that she was born on the Celebration Day for Lakshmi which is the 3d day of the Diwali Festival. Lakshmi is celebrated on the New Moon of a day during October or November, so well, I had to check.... (I can't find her official birth date)

Lakshmi Tatma

November 1, 2005, Bihar, India

Sun 9 Scorpio; Moon Libra or Scorpio; NN 14 Aries

I'm not going to interpret a chart when I don't have any idea of whether it is accurate or not. But, um, well, the chart for this date shows a Sun-Jupiter conjunction trining Uranus and you can see what a cute little charmer she is from the photos of her on the Internet. If this were Lakshmi's birth date she is would be going through her Solar and Lunar Return right now. This birth chart would include a Grand Square that pits an opposition of Sun opposite Mars against the beginnings of the Saturn-Neptune opposition back in 2005.

The Saturn-Neptune opposition gave up the Ghost with its last Rx pass back in June and now today's chart has the beginnings of the Saturn-Uranus opposition. Saturn rules the bones, the Sun rules the Spine. Saturn opposition Neptune shows the bones being held in captivity in a way. Lakshmi hasn't been able to walk because of interference from the unnecessary limbs. Uranus rules the circulatory system and the nervous system. Connected with the Grand Trine to Sun and Mars hopefully this is an indicator of a successful operation to free up her spine. Saturn is conjunct the Virgo South Node which should be fortunate for bones, healing, reconstruction.

When Lakshmi wakes up it will be her special "Celebration Day" as the Diwali Festival has now once again begun in India and the New Moon is coming up on Nov. 9. If enough of us pray, the operation will be successful and Modern Medicine will once again have worked a Miracle.

Mean Old Moon Survey List

Incessantly the other signs complain that Moon in Capricorns are ambitious, selfish, untalented, and have no compassion for others. So, I decided to look at the Moon Signs of all the people who work for the Bush Administration since I consider this to be a set of people who have too much ambition and absolutely no compassion for others. Is the place swarming with Capricorn Moons or what? Well, Andrew Card was crap and he has a Capricorn Moon, so there you go. Forget about all those other Moon Signs.... You can also forget about Habeas Corpus, Social Security, the Budget, the Middle Class, what else? Well, I think the Military is used up. Look at all the "good" "compassionate" Moon Signs who did this.

Actually, the Bush Crowd seems to reflect sensitive, social people which is great in Government if you're working stuck at the Post Office all day. But, Saturn rules Government and Leadership, not Neptune, not the Moon, not Virgo, not Aquarius, certainly not Mars. You stick a bunch of sweet Neptunians in there you get an Institutional Nightmare. Those WMDs? The Windmills of the Mind, Shrubbie. This is the kind of situation that attracts the bad qualities of Saturn. Saturn doesn't do well with mop up, that really is a weakness. Just ask, oh no I wasn't going to say it....oh noooo, here comes....I'll sing it...

"If you knew Hitler
Like I knew Hitler...."

But this Capricorn Moon as Scapegoat of the Astrologers thing is really getting out of hand. Thank God Cap Moons have such a dark sense of humor and deep insights into the motivations of the human soul. For, as Pluto moves into Capricorn, Astrologers have even begun changing the Moon Sign of the United States' chart from Aquarius to Capricorn. Has the Bush Administration taken over the Astrological Community as well? No one can agree on a Rising Sign for the U.S. chart anyway. So, as long as the U.S. loses its position of World Dominance, well then, give it a Capricorn Moon. God Damned Losers. It must not be fun to pick on an Aquarius Moon. I wouldn't pick on Joan Crawford if you paid me a million dollars.

Since the Moon moves quickly, and I don't have birth times for most of the Bush Administrators, it is impossible to know what many of their Moon signs are. This is just a preliminary fielding, me wasting my time in order to see if reality is as slanted as astrologer's opinions are. Frankly I am shocked that not only do Capricorn Moons make a relatively weak showing considering what Evil Jerks they are, but so do Scorpio Suns, those other bastards of the Astro-World (Sun signs not listed). Hmmm, I seem to remember that Guantanamo was full of Scorpio Suns when I did that survey. What's this saying? The Sun Sign Survey should come next to be fair but there are so many Cancers leading this pack I'm personally having trouble facing up to it.

Here are some current Mean Bastard Capricorn Moons in Politics in addition to those listed below: Al Gore, John McCain, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and tee hee, Michael Moore.

And this list is interesting not because I want to diss a certain Moon sign or defend another one but because it seems that there is a prevalence of Moon Signs that reflect Bush and Cheney's charts. Like Dictators, whatever signs they may be, these guys don't want anyone around who will feel differently than they do or who will question their motives. Look at the prevalence of Cheney's main signs: Aquarius-Pisces-Virgo, and Bush's: Cancer-Leo-Libra.

Here we go. The Emotional Needs and Subconscious Re-active Qualities of the Bush Administration as indicated by their Moon placements:

Run, Baby, Run! Paula Radcliffe

A Psychic once told me that although I'm an old soul I don't reincarnate very often because I don't enjoy myself very much in human form. Well, I have no idea whether reincarnation really exists, but, just to be prepared in advance I'm planning ahead. I've decided that in my next life, I will be very good at doing two things which I associate with being a person who's happy to exist in her human body. For one, I'm going to be able to sing and for Two, I'm going to be able to run fast. So when I see human/animal/vegetable who can do either of these things really well I rejoice in their talents. Today an English woman named Paula Radcliffe won the New York Marathon only months after giving birth to her daughter. Oi. Talk about feeling okay in your human body... I want to go back to bed just thinking about it. I wonder if she has nightmares at night about people who run in a penguin waddle like me.

Paula Radcliffe

b. Dec. 17, 1973 Davenham, Cheshire

Sun 26 Sagittarius; Moon either in Virgo or Libra; NN 29 Sagittarius

Wow. Pluto is transiting over her Sun-NN conjunction. Sagittarians are supposed to be sporty and athletic, you sprinkle a little Pluto on em and watch em go. Sagittarius rules the thighs and hips so Radcliffe really is taking advantage of her Astro-given body parts here. (I won't crack a "Thunder Thighs joke except here in the parentheses). She's won all but one of the long distance races she's been in and has broken many records. And she hates performance enhancing drugs. The fastest person is always the most ethical, funny how that happens, isn't it?

Radcliffe's Sun is just really amazing and also informative. It's in Sagittarius c. NN as already mentioned so it's no Wonder that she's athletic. But Sun is also in a Mystic Rectangle with Mars (Speed), Saturn (Endurance) and Uranus (Flight). In other words, she's got so much locomotion it's absolutely Mystical how she gets from Point A to Point B. Mars was the first thing I looked at, of course, as it rules Movement before anything else. Mars is in its own sign Aries, trining the Sun, opposing Uranus in Libra and sextiling Saturn in Cancer. The Saturn in Cancer was confounding to me as I don't normally associate it with speed and Saturn here is Retrograde and opposite the Sun. But Saturn does represent endurance, it is on the Aries Point (bringing her to the fore, literally in this case), and it sextiles (showing talent) Mars. This bestows the drive and ambition to pull in front and the ability to prevail. And it turns out that Sun, the Nodes and Saturn are all Parallel to each other so working together on the same plane as Parallels are thought to be almost as strong as conjunctions. Radcliffe has suffered some injuries but she always comes back. I think this is called the "Being Able to pick one's self up by one's Bootstraps" aspect. There are no planets in Earth Signs in this chart so Saturn simply doesn't have much of a reference point to work from in this chart.

The other 3 outer planets are in a small triangle together showing natural born talent. Apex Neptune in Sagittarius sextiles a trine of Venus c. Jupiter in Aquarius trine Pluto in Libra, maybe conjunct Moon in Libra. Radcliffe's progressed Venus went Retrograde when she was around 15 or 16 in 1989-90, just as she started running. It stationed Rx right on her natal Jupiter. Jupiter disposits her Sun-NN.

My Hero

Scott Parazynski. Who better to fix a broken Solar Panel in Space than a Leo Sun with North Node also in Leo conjunct Uranus while transiting Pluto is trining from the Galactic Center? No one.

Scott Parazynski. Death Defying!!!

Scott Parazynski. Courageous!!!

Scott Parazynski. Our Star!!!!

Scott Parazynski. Modern American Space Hero!!!!

Fog causes 100 Car Pile-Up in Fresno

Fresno, CA gets these awful Tule Fogs which are known to cause traffic accidents and there was a huge one today. Massive 100 Car pile up on Highway 99.

What rules Fog? Neptune? Moon? Geez, probably my whole chart.

I had to look at the Event Chart for this accident just to make sure both of these planets were angular. Yup. Neptune c. IC and Moon in H10 c. Saturn/SN.

They say the mess started around 7:45 am (Nov. 3, 2007, Fresno, CA). With a visibility of around 2 feet in front of you it's anybody's guess how long cars were crashing into each other. This gives a Scorpio Ascendant with the Sun conjunct and just rising from the 12th House. The Sun is in a Grand Trine with Mars in Cancer and Uranus in Pisces. That's a good indicator for an accident especially with the Sun contacting the Ascendant like this. With Pluto ruling the chart the accident would be Massive.

Neptune is at 20 Aquarius conjunct the 22 Aquarius IC. The Moon was in Virgo in the 10th House conjunct Saturn and the South Node.

Ruler of the Chart is Pluto (H2) (Mass Destruction) which was trining the Moon.

There were two fatalities here, one a 6 year old boy and the other a 28-year old Man. Mars in Cancer hooks in the little boy. He would have also maybe been going through his Jupiter opposition in Gemini (traffic). I wonder if the death of the 28-year old Man would be somehow connected with his Progressed Lunar Return as the Moon was conjunct the South Node and Saturn. On the East Coast a 28-year old Runner died tragically at around the same time (ET) while trying out for a Marathon in New York City. Someday maybe we'll have a huge astrology database that will give us all these charts to compare.

Escape from North Korea / Shin Dong-Hyuk

You can really just hone down Shin Dong-Hyuk's chart reading into a study of a Bundle Chart Shape. According to Bob Marks this chart shape can result in a person who has a lot of focus and who doesn't let the outside World interrupt his thoughts. Shin Dong-Hyuk is a Scorpio Sun so he's going to do this anyway. His planets are all contained within a small space within 4 signs in his chart. There's a Saturn-Pluto conjunction at 29 Libra on one end and Mars at 14 Capricorn on the other end. Mars might either be unaspected or conjunct only his Moon. Mars is also Out-of-Bounds. Is this painting a pretty grim picture? Nah, well not that grim after all, Shin has 4 planets, maybe even the Moon in Sagittarius, in his heart he travels light.

Shin Dong-Hyuk

b. Nov. 19, 1982 Camp No. 14, Working Village No. 8, Kaech'on, South Pyongan Province, North Korea

Sun 27 Scorpio; Moon either in Sagittarius or Capricorn; NN 5 Cancer

At Age 22 Shin escaped from his birthplace. He was born in a Political Prison Camp in North Korea and had lived there his whole life. His story is really gruesome, some people maybe don't believe it. His chart certainly agrees with his story.

Here's the link to his own telling of his story: http://www.northkoreanrefugees.com/2007-09-atbirth.htm.

Shin has just written a book called Escape to the Outside World. His parents really didn't know each other, they were given 5 days together for good behavior. He also had a brother. As was typical in the camp, Shin was taken away from his Mother when he was 12 years old (Jupiter Return in Scorpio). His Mother and Brother eventually tried to escape the camp in 1996; they were caught; Shin and his Father were tortured (Apr. 6-7, 1996) and imprisoned for months to try to find out if they were also involved. On Nov. 29, 1996 they were released after signing papers to say that they would keep secret. That day he watched his Mother and Brother get executed. Shin describes how he generally just felt nothing for what was going on. It seems that his Bundle Chart protected him in this way. He was beaten and needless to say tells a very awful story of life in the camp.

All of a sudden it seems all of a sudden he decided to try to escape when he was 22 on Jan. 2, 2005. This was his Uranus Square with a one-degree orb. Transiting Uranus at 4 Pisces was trining and sextiling his Nodal Axis at 5 Cancer/Capricorn (Home). The story is even Uranian. He escaped with a friend who was electrocuted on the fence that surrounded the camp.

Here are some of the other aspects for Jan. 2, 2005, date of his escape:

t.SN c. n. Saturn Pluto 29 Libra.
t. Mars 6 Sagittarius c. n. Uranus 5 Sagittarius (and square t.Uranus)
t. Mercury-Venus-Pluto all within 3 degree conjunction in Sagittarius c. n.Neptune and progressed Venus

And here's the kicker: When a person has all the planets concentrated within one section of the chart like this you always want to take a look at what happens when slow moving planets and progressed Planets either leave the formation and start to transit over everything. It usually shows a huge change, or at least I've seen this before. Remember Shin has the Saturn-Pluto conjunction on one side and unaspected Mars & maybe Moon on the other end. The only major aspects he has between Planets (MOon unknown) are conjunctions and one Outer planet sextile between Neptune and Saturn-Pluto. The Sun was just approaching natal Mars and was about to leave the rest of his planets behind. Shin's Progressed Sun was at 18 Freedom loving Sagittarius conjunct transiting Pluto-Mercury-Venus. His progressed Venus and Mercury were conjunct his Freedom loving Sagittarius Neptune, sextiling Saturn-Pluto. He grew up in a prison and was fleeing out somewhere toward China, he didn't really know the World at all, he just ran.

I'll repeat, the name of his book is Escape to the Outside World. He might as well have just blasted off into a Twilight Zone episode. If you're going to do it, best to do it during a Uranus transit with double backings from Mars and Progressed Sun.

The articles say that Shin is suffering from the effects of his past. You can see that with t. Pluto conjunct his Neptune and progressed Sun approaching within orb he's probably extremely disoriented and confused right now. He's remarked in an interview that he's so hurt when people question the truth of his statements. He's finding that the life that he grew up in and and took for granted is completely unbelievable to the outside world. Shin has managed to move to South Korea after spending a year and a half in China. It sounds like he's surrounded by many protective people which his Cancer North Node needs. I hope this continues for a few more years.

Lyric Surfing as Therapeutic Technique

Is life incomprehensible? Are you looking at that chart and just don't see anything? Are you fresh out of insights and answers? Here's a technique using the Google Search Engine to answer all your most pressing and stressful questions with style.

Just write your question in the Google Search Engine Box, if it's a long question then just use keywords. At the end type in the word "Lyric." Sometimes you get the best answer by just asking for a song that's been written about your problem because frankly most problems just have to be endured.

Polar Bears

Since they're in the news so much these days for being the "Canaries of the Global Warming Crisis" I thought I'd check to see if Polar Bears are born to any particular signs.

Polar Bears mate mostly in April. They dig dens in October and November in order to give birth. They purposely dig into the South Sides of Hills so that extra snow will cover them up.

The Polar Bears are born in November and December. This makes them mostly Sagittarians which seems really obvious I guess. They are Santa Claus' bears, after all. They even seem to live according to their Jupiter Returns because they live with their Mother for the first 3 years of their life and then they're on their own. This is the first Jupiter Square.

This also means that many will be born with the Jupiter-Pluto conjunction in the same sign as their Sun this year. You never really hear about the Crisis side of Jupiter and Pluto working together, but as Pluto has been passing through their sign their very existence has become increasingly imperiled. Scientists and Tourists will be up in the North Pole gawking at this years' Kids with complete desperation. That alone will certainly melt the ice. Well, and hopefully by then they'll be tucked away in their caves under massive amounts of freshly minted snow.

Learn to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

Recent obituary news brings the death of the Guy who rode the Bomb, rather the guy who dropped the bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. They say he never regretted what he did. What's the chart look like of a guy who feels no Guilt? Shows no Remorse? He even named the Bomb, otherwise called "Little Boy" after his own Mother. She must have been one Hell of a Gal!

Paul Warfield Tibbet
b. Feb. 23, 1915 Quincy, IL

Sun 5 Pisces; Moon Gemini; NN 27 Aquarius

The Pisces-Aquarius combination here is interesting just because, as I talked about earlier in my Blog, "Boys Toys" this combination came up strongly in the charts of almost all the major Scientists who had a part in building the Bomb. Tibbet's chart is almost all in Aquarius and Pisces so he fits right in with this "New" "Modern" "Mass" "Invention."

But the scientists behind the Bomb all regretted what they did. Tibbet didn't.

Something else has to be going on here. And, Boy, Boy O Boy, is it ever! Tibbet's chart, granted I don't have a birth time, has no Squares and no Oppositions! I suppose some people would be devastated by a transiting Opposition or Square. But in this case the energy was used to become devastating, and I don't mean that in a good way. Hmm, maybe I should say Blitzed out. You combine that with the Sun conjunct Jupiter in Pisces, this is a guy who was full of unbounded enthusiasm. Slim Pickens riding the bomb in the last scene of Dr. StrangeLove really does come to mind here.

This is further emphasized by the fact that Tibbet's Venus and Neptune are both unaspected in his chart. He had no planets in Earth. There's nothing holding this guy down.

Boy o Boy!

Then there's Mars, planet of aggression, great to look at in this chart for obvious reasons. Mars here is in Aquarius conjunct Uranus. That's a great aspect for a fighter pilot, one who strikes from a distance with cool, mental detachment. Uranus is in it's own sign so very strong and it only aspects Mars. Mars on the other hand is also trining Saturn. Basically, not only does this guy have unbounded enthusiasm but he's disciplined, forceful, and a good shot.

I found one more stand-out feature that sets Tibbets apart from the rest. His Moon. Mom the Bomb, Enola Gay. Remember I said he named the Bomb after his Mom? Well, what does the Moon look like in the chart of a guy who names an a Bomb after his Mom that annihilates an entire city? Okay, sitting down? Moon conjunct Saturn and Pluto and Moon is Out-of-Bounds. Saturn and Pluto together and the Guy says he doesn't feel guilt, this is one for the Pope. It's always the ones who refuse to feel guilty who have the most to apologize for.

If born early in the day Tibbet's moon would be conjunct only his Saturn in Gemini (Rx). If anytime after say, 10 or 11 am his Moon would be in Gemini sandwiched between his Saturn in Gemini and his Pluto in Cancer!

And there's more ... Pluto is right smack dab on the Aries Point of Cancer. Sort of Patriotism Gone Mad.

And it gets even worse...the day he dropped the Bomb, he was 30 years old, just past his Saturn Return and really wanting to make a "mark" in the World.

And it was his Lunar Return for the Month. Remember his natal Moon is Out-of-Bounds.

And the Sun was conjunct Pluto in Leo opposite his Uranus-Mars in Aquarius. Remember this is a guy who has no Natal Oppositions so was born with no reference point.

Yee-Haw! Ride em Cowboy.

You Think You Had It Bad

What if you had Augusta and Randy Roman for parents? If you had them for parents you wouldn't even be born yet and they'd have been fighting over you for the last 5 years. Mr. and Mrs. Roman have a set of 3 embryos frozen up like succotash in a laboratory in Texas where they've been languishing since at least April, 2002. Randy decided at the last minute that he didn't want to go ahead with the in vitro fertilization procedure that the couple had planned. They went through 16 months of therapy and then decided to divorce over this because Augusta wants the babies, er, embryos. Man, think of all the Christmases these kids are missing. They'd practically be in kindergarten by now. Are they just sitting there like 3 little pickles? This is easily the most stressful childhood I've ever heard of.

Augusta was 46 on May 31, 2007 and is now 47 on Nov. 1, 2007 so just to be gross I'm going to guess that she was born between June 1, 1961 and Oct. 31, 1961. Man, I'm routin for the Halloween Birth date because this has "Boo!" written all over it. Why doesn't she tank a fifth of Jack Daniels, go into a bar, find some guy and get it over with? I've seen Randy on the News, he's no great shakes. There was a conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in Capricorn that Augusta may have in her birth chart. Capricornian Paternity fight anyone?

The couple was going to try for an April, 2002 fertilization implant. They initially had 13 embryos and now there are only 3. Are the other ten dead? Did the Radiator Lady step on them? Where am I? And when you look at the planets you know where Augusta is. April 2002 was right around the time of Augusta's Uranus opposition and Neptune square. That's right. Uranus/Neptune. She's orbiting. Physically at this age you can still get pregnant, but mentally something's starting to unscrew itself...

The embryos were awarded to Augusta in 2004 during the Divorce proceedings but I guess she didn't have them installed. Hard to get pregnant with all this bickering. These two year increments seem like Mars Return issues or slow Court system, take your pick. There's all kinds of cycles these two could be hooking into.

2 years later, guess 2006, a judge reversed the initial decision in favor of Randy who wants to discard the embryos. Augusta had signed a contract saying that she would not use the embryos in event of divorce. Come on Augusta. Go Organic. You could put a wick in these kids and use them to repel mosquitoes at this point. (Don't mean to be cold here, but, am I really the one being cold here?)

According to one website I looked at (sorry no link) these fights are common; there are 190,000 embryos "in legal limbo" because their parents can't agree on what to do with them. In the end it is thought that this type of lawsuit will overturn Roe v. Wade if it is decided that the embryos are living beings.

The Implant Doctor said there was about a 10 percent chance that the Romans' implantation would work so I think Augusta needs a good astrologer to explain the Uranus-Neptune thing. Boy, it's tough. I don't blame her. Life just really sucks. Maybe the kids have the right idea.
