"There is nothing wrong with your television set...

"Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur, or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to... The Outer Limits."

Oh, Take Me! Take Me!

NPR Today was giving advance warning about a new TV show that airs tomorrow night on ABC that tries to once again create the great aura of the old SciFi TV shows "The Twilight Zone" and "The Outer Limits." No way....Man, my whole generation was disappearing onto UFO's in their sleep because those shows were so great.

Had to check out the charts to see if this show is gonna make it. It has all the best actors, writers, stories but when I looked up the creator it just indicated a bunch of committees and corporations. Boo hoo! Don't leave me here on Earth with all this bad TV slapped together by committee! Take me to wherever Rod Serling went.

"The Twilight Zone" was created by Rod Serling and broadcast on CBS. It was based on some radio programs and was created from a single program that Serling created called "The Time Element" which was aired Nov. 24, 1958. The Series officially aired on Oct. 2, 1959 with a show called "Where is Everybody?" There was a Total Lunar Eclipse that day with a stellium in Libra. How utterly awesome is that? Eclipses seem to be great times to present your creations before the public. NN 5 Libra; Sun 10 Libra, Moon 16 Libra; Mars 18 Libra; Mercury 21 Libra. And then Neptune continued the stellium into Scorpio at 6 degrees. I haven't found what time the program aired so don't know what houses. Friday Night Fright, what can I say?

"The Outer Limits" was created by Leslie Stevens and broadcast on ABC. The First Show aired on Sept. 16, 1963 at 7:30 pm ET. This gives another huge stellium (Uranus, Pluto, Sun, Venus, Mercury) but this time in Virgo. And, with the 7 Aries Rising all the planets are in the 6th House doubling the Virgo emphasis. This show was also first aired on a New Moon, but not on an Eclipse.

It's interesting that "The Twilight Zone" is considered more Fantasy, Horror and Sci Fi whereas "The Outer Limits" was considered straight ahead Science Fiction. The difference between being a "Libra" and being a "Virgo" could have something to do with it. Libra is more Romantic and Virgo is more Technical. (Of course, these dates are dictated by the Fall TV series start dates anyway).

The creators' charts also seem to show the differences. Rod Serling was a Capricorn Sun which is more geared toward psychology and thus Horror (I believe Edgar Allen Poe was a Capricorn). His Sun was conjunct Mercury and opposing Pluto. This also gears more towards content concerning psychology, power and social commentary. The stories were known for ending on interesting twists. "The Outer Limits" creator, Leslie Stevens was an Aquarius Sun opposite Neptune. How great is that for a person telling stories about Outer Space? They were more Science oriented. Interesting coincidence that both men were born in 1924. Saturn was in Scorpio squaring Neptune in Leo for part of the time. In Serling's chart, 3 of the outer planets are in a Grand Trine: Uranus in Pisces trine Pluto in Cancer which might explain his super stardom. He was an innovator speaking for his generation.

There's too much to talk about here. I'll just say that it's interesting how the Transiting Saturn was conjunct both men's Suns when their Shows came out.

Sun 14 Aquarius; Moon Capricorn or Aquarius; NN 3 Virgo

"Masters of Science Fiction" doesn't look as exciting Astrology-wise. People are saying that it's too Arty for ABC. Interesting that Pluto will be conjunct the MC when the show airs and will be apex to a Yod inconjunct Mercury 1 Leo on one side and Mars 29 Taurus the other side. That's the same configuration that people are blaming the Collapse of the Bridge in Minnesota on (except that Pluto was conjunct the ASC). There's a Minor Grand Trine: Moon at 2 Taurus (H1) trine Pluto-MC Sagittarius trine Saturn-Venus RX Leo. Sadly the planets that should be strongly out in the open, Neptune, Uranus, and also NN, are hidden away in the 12th house. Well, the DVD sales should make a buck... and that's what it's all about, right?
