2005 YU55 Is In The Neighborhood

"The 2005 YU44, an asteroid roughly as wide as the length of an aircraft carrier, is due to cross Earth's path today. It's the closest approach of such an object in a generation."

This sounds like a Woody Allen joke, right?

It's not.

It's from the front page of today's Wall Street Journal in an article called "Today's Close Encounter." The asteroid is about 1,300 feet wide. That's big. The newspaper shows a picture of the asteroid in comparison with the U.S. Nimitz which is 1,092 feet long. That means it's big enough to host a presidential visit.

Maybe this is the 2d coming. Maybe a 3d asteroid will hit on 12/21/12. The 3d coming. Anyone thought of that? Oh hay, I never realized that those numbers, the 2012 date spell out like that, with the 1-2 numeric sequence. This month we have 11/1/11 and 11/11/11.

This thing, the asteroid, will swing by earth so close that it will be inside the Moon's orbit from 201,700 miles away. Amazing how it manages to avoid the Moon's orbit.

In the article, there's a graph of a bunch of Asteroids of varying sizes shown, they're all lined up in rows, big to small. Looks like an abacus. It reminds me of the astronomy book that my brother had when we were kids. We couldn't read so we looked at the illustration of the Moon and the Earth being spun off from the Sun. And my Virgo brother said, "That's a picture of the Sun shitting out the Earth and the Moon." Then I said, "Ha Ha, a slow motion picture of pooping."

I looked up the astrology last week to see what kind of b.s. I could bake up regarding why such a big asteroid is cruising by earth today. There was something but I don't remember what it was.

Asteroid 2011 MD

Today at around 10:00 am Pacific Daylight Time (1700 GT) an Asteroid blew past Earth. Very politely without causing too much damage.

If you look at the webpage down below you can see how the asteroid is at the other end of the solar system from Mercury-Venus-Mars right now. It is inside the Moon's orbit and is even coming closer than many satellites' orbits. But it is not going to hit us.

Pretty interesting that the Sun is filling in the empty leg of the big outer planet t-square today all on Cardinal Signs. At the point of closest approach this Grand Square was doubly Cardinal as all planets were very close to the angles of the chart.

Sun 6 Cancer (H12) opposition Pluto 7 Capricorn (H6)
squares
Saturn 11 Libra (H4) opposing Uranus 5 Aries (H10)

Mercury was in the first house 23 Cancer and rising. Just checking out the neighborhood. Hopefully not bringing in any communicable diseases.

Asteroid 2011
June 27, 2011 6:26 am PDT (13:26 UT)

Closest approach to earth

Sun 6 Cancer (H12); Moon 21 Taurus (H11); ASC 13 Cancer; MC 25 Pisces; NN 23 Sagittarius Rx (H6)

Looks like my software program is giving different degree placement from astrodienst so don't know if things are accurate.

2 Small Asteroids

2 Small Asteroids passed between the Moon and the Earth on September 8, 2010. It was a total coincidence that they showed up on the same day. They were discovered on Sept. 5, 2010 in Arizona. They were between 33 and 65 feet wide.

Info here: http://neo.jpl.nasa.gov/news/news169.html.

1st Asteroid: Sept. 8, 2010 5:51 am EDT (0951 GMT)

2d Asteroid: Sept. 8, 2010 5:12 pm EDT (2112 GMT)

Really fascinating that the first asteroids passed while the New Moon 16 Virgo was close to exact, on the same degree at any rate. The New Moon was in the 1st House during the morning passing. Mercury 7 Virgo Rx was just rising over the Ascendant at 8 Virgo.

The New Moon was conjunct the 8th-7th House cusp when the second asteroid passed. This chart had 2 Aquarius Rising.

These charts also have close conjunctions of

Venus 1 Scorpio-Mars 26 Libra
Jupiter 1 Aries-Uranus 30 Pisces
Pluto 3 Capricorn-NN 4 Capricorn

Since Mercury Retrogrades are said to bring old acquaintances back into one's life I sort of wonder if there's an interesting past connection with these objects and the earth.
