Extraordinary Baby Week

So, Cardinal Signs represent new beginnings and maybe we should be expecting a whole lot of interesting new developments over the next couple of years as Pluto and then Uranus are on these points. The Solstice and Equinox points (beginnings of Seasons) may be more vital in Astrological interpretation than usual even.

The birth of a baby would certainly be a new beginning. The Autumn Equinox at Sun at 1 Libra squaring Pluto at 1 Capricorn has certainly brought news about exceptional situations regarding the births of babies this week. Neither of those signs is connected with the births of babies. However, Mars' transit through Cancer which might also be contributing. Unusual and Weird come under the rulership of Uranus which is just finishing up its final opposition to Saturn in Virgo (medical procedures). Both births that I'm talking about here were delivered via caesarian section. Age of the Mothers in both cases, 40 and 41 seems to show problems related to older women having children. This could become an issue with Pluto's presence in Capricorn, the sign of old age.

First story is of a big baby boy was born in Northern Sumatra who was born weighing more than 19 pounds due to his mother's diabetic condition during pregnancy. He has since been given the middle name of "Akbar" which means "big" in Sumatran. "Akbar" was more than 2 feet tall and his cry is said to sound like a lion's roar. This boy is the biggest baby ever born in his country. This is the 4th pregancy for the mother, all the previous births were normal.

The Sun and Mercury Rx were both in conjunction with Saturn in Virgo. They are also squaring Pluto. Virgo is related to health conditions. The Sun related to Saturn and Pluto can show a difficulty with elimination within the vitality. Saturn and Pluto are also related to extreme proportions in size and scale in the arts, so maybe they can also relate literally to the human body. And a major factor here is Saturn's opposition to Uranus in Pisces.

For a baby born of a very large size it would be really cool to see if the planets that rules large things, which have been in conjunction with each other, were passing over the Ascendant. Jupiter is involved in anything big (expansion) as is Neptune (no boundaries). These two are in conjunction with each other and with Chiron. This would have been passing over the Ascendant around 4 pm Sumatran time. Sure would be interested to know what time "Akbar" was born to see if it corresponds with this passage. The Ascendant, I believe, corresponds with conditions related to an individual's birth.

World's largest baby on record weighed 23 pounds and was born Jan. 19, 1879 to the World's Tallest couple in Seville, Ohio, U.S.

This baby boy passed away 11 hours after birth. Interesting the correspondences with current astrology. Saturn and Uranus were in the opposite signs where they are now but not opposing each other. There was very close to both a Nodal Return (cusp of Capricorn-Aquarius) and a Jupiter Return in Aquarius. Not only that but Chiron was conjunct Neptune (different sign, Taurus then, Aquarius now).

Second strange story: A Fertility Clinic in an unknown midwest town planted the embryo of a Detroit, Michigan couple into the womb of an Ohio woman and discovered their mistake 10 days later.

This happened back in February so perhaps the Solar Eclipse on Jan. 26 and the Lunar Eclipse on Feb. 9 can somehow account for this error.

In Astrological shorthand, Mars and Uranus together represent Accidents and Uranus and Pluto together represent mistakes.

Back in February, the Sun's position in Aquarius would have disposited to Uranus. And Uranus was in opposition to Saturn which would have been exact to the degree on Feb. 5, 2009.

Uranus does things differently. Either way, the Ohio woman brought the baby to term as a surrogate and has handed it over to the Michigan couple with no strings attached. Such a heartful act is also very Uranian, only happens if one can distance one's self mentally from the inner needs. There are a few other instances listed on the Internet of instances when this has occurred and people have made different choices about how to handle the situation.

Uranus also describes the Shock involved around the pregnancy and also the high tech and manmade nature of the artificial insemination procedure. Saturn in Virgo perhaps could indicate problems through medical procedures. (I just went to a doctor yesterday and my records were full of errors so I wonder if this is pretty widespread right now.)

The Saturn Uranus opposition happens every 45+ years. It will make 5 passes of exact opposition during the current opposition cycle.

• The first opposition happened on Election Day, Nov. 4, 2008.
  
• The 2d one happened on Feb. 5, 2009.
• The 3d one happened Sept. 15, 2010. (Amazing how the oppositions correspond by Month to the events related to this accidental pregnancy.
• 4th happens on April 26, 2010 but in different signs, Libra and Aries
  
• 5th happens on July 26, 2010, Libra and Aries
  

An interesting CNN story describes how the couple heard about the mistake. In February, the husband was called around 4pm. At that time either Cancer or Leo would have been rising and the 7th house was loaded. These are the signs related to childbearing and child rearing. The Nodal Axis (destiny) was passing over the 1st/7th Houses with the North Node in the 7th. It would have remained at this spot at 4pm during the entire month of February.

For most of February the North Node was accompanied by Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Neptune. How's that for describing a phone call (Mercury) regarding a Mistaken (Mars in Aquarius) artificial insemination (Uranus?) that will lead to a feeling of martyrdom (Neptune) that will lead to the birth of a baby boy (Mars, Jupiter). The emotional pain and shock that the couple suffered is described in the CNN story quoted below. Because of her age, Carolyn Savage will not be able to conceive another child and is going to have to use a surrogate herself.

"The doctor told me in one sentence, 'Carolyn is pregnant, but we transferred the wrong embryos,'" he said. "I didn't even know that could physically happen. It was a total shock, totally beyond the realm of possibility."

In a tragic mix-up, the Savages say the fertility clinic where Carolyn underwent in vitro fertilization implanted another couple's embryos into Carolyn's uterus.

In essence, she had become an unwitting surrogate for another family.

After receiving the news, Sean hung up the phone and drove straight home to tell his wife in person.

"He walked in and was as white as a sheet," Carolyn said. "He told me, and I think he repeated himself two or three times, and I kept saying 'You're joking.' Incredulity turned to shock, and when that shock melted, so did the couple's hope for having another child of their own. At the time, Carolyn was 39 and her chances of having a child naturally after this one were waning.

"That was the beginning of a very treacherous and emotional journey for us," said Sean.

"I don't think I've ever cried so much in my life," said Carolyn. "It was such a nightmare and, in a way, I felt violated."

The Winter Solstice Chart / Link to Dates-Time for Solstice/Equinox Charts

It's a little late to be looking at the Winter Solstice Chart. I finally did and noticed that the Sun-Mars-Pluto conjunction is on the Ascendant in the chart for Washington, DC. In the astrolocality chart this means that a set of these lines are running through Washington DC as well. This combination is sort of like lighting a torch to the U.S. Presidency since Capricorn/H10 represents Presidents among other things. What a chart to come up just as there is such a big change in the Presidency (er, hopefully it will be a big change). These lines also run along 3 other lines over the Globe as well. There is a huge convergence of Sun, Pluto, Saturn DC and Uranus IC lines running through Great Britain and that part of Europe so it will be interesting to see if anything in particular occurs between U.S. politics and British politics, could even be the French. Wish they would give another Statue of Liberty to remind us of what we're all about over here, we could really use a reminder (just saw an article the other in the S.J. Mercury News about how rich immigrants are using U.S. Technology to ensure that their kids are boys because they don't like girls. Yeah, baby, Freedom and equality for all... sigh).

Jude Cowell has also written a great essay on her blog and I wish I could find some comments from Dean Bensics as his interpretations are always interesting as well. I may be wrong but I think he uses Astrolocality Charts for Washington.

One thing which I hope I'm wrong about is that the Venus-Chiron line that runs through the Pacific Ocean between the West Coast and Hawaii doesn't indicate abnormal harming of the Whales who will be migrating. The U.S. Navy has finally been given permission to perform their Sonar Tests off the Southern California Coast despite the fact that this is known to harm whales. I didn't write it down but I suspect that a Neptune line runs through the area as well. Neptune rules both the ocean and the Navy. Bush set aside some parts of the ocean as a park or something which can't be touched so this could indicate that as well. I can't stop worrying about what the whales are going through right now.

The Dates and Times for the Equinoxes and Solstices for 2009 along with some notes. Western Astrology is set up to follow these passages and this year and 2010 are very important to watch as we'll have the t-square of Outer Planets Saturn, Uranus and Pluto hovering over those points.

I've pulled up charts for London, England and I realize that some of these times are not quite right.

Over 2009, the Nodal Axis will switch from Aquarius to Capricorn. Barack Obama has become President while these two points are passing over his ASC/DESC axis and also over his Sun. So far he is representing Unity and Change, both very Aquarian things. Hopefully the Fracture part won't be forthcoming. At any rate, in hindsight, through watching just these charts, it really does make sense that he is where he is. Capricorn NN is great for building, management, conservatism, frugality. He's in such an interesting position. The Country is so messed up through Finances, Housing, War, Environment, Health Care, Education. He's got no experience, the World loves him, and Obama's really coming in to it all with strong leadership. Hopefully there won't be cultural problems through racism and nationalism.

I took a quick look at the Equinox and Solstice charts for 2009 to see where Saturn-Uranus-Pluto is placed. 3 of the charts that I pulled up have Cancer rising which is interesting because Cancer is the one Aries point that is missing in this t-square. Cancer represents Home, Homeland, Food, ... not to mention a really long memory about past grudges. As a Cancer Sun I know personally how destructive this one element can be.

Everett Blackman on Presidential Assassinations

A while back I found a publication called Astrology: Worlds Visible and Invisible written by Everett Blackman, PMAFA. It's an old American Federation of Astrologers, Inc. pamphlet published in 1974. I was surprised and happy to find that it is still in print and listed on Amazon.com here:

Although only 94 pages long, the book is written in 3 parts. (Boy, that was the day when Astrologers wrote short, concise essays.) Part 1 talks about various aspects of astrology associated with the U.S. Presidency. The 2d Part talks about Cycles and Progressions. And the 3d part talks about the Gemini-Sagittarius Axis as regards to the U.S. chart (really, really interesting) along with a couple of other small essays. I bought the book for the incredible chapters on Cycles and Progressions. It goes into the 500 year cycle through history, a 13 year cycle that's created by averaging the transiting Uranus-Neptune Midpoint. Here's a whiff:

"The author recommends still another (3.25 degree) based on the mean annual motion of the Uranus-Neptune midpoint, a spacial reference that has already been implicated in long-term cycle culmination. This is not as exotic as it sounds when we consider that the Uranus-Neptune midpoint axis serves as a convenient base for all medium and long term cycles -- the 500 year cycle predicated on a general restoration of relationships, the shorter 13 year and 39 1/2 year cycles corresponding to a general restoration of planetary sequence."

I wonder if this somehow is significant for translating into earth terms the effects of the Uranus-Neptune mutual reception. We're sitting around waiting for the 2012 End of the World. The two planets were in conjunction in the early 90s. They are now in each other's signs. I wonder what date their midpoint switched from Aquarius to Pisces, or if it has yet, and if this coincides with any significant events. (I'm still without Astro program animation feature, etc., if somebody actually reads this I'd really appreciate if you could leave this info in the comments section).

Also in the book, Blackman wrote an interesting Chapter on Presidential Assassinations. I thought it would be helpful to announce this information to anyone out there who wants to delve into the subject since Barack Obama's safety seems to be very hotly discussed. If anything happens to that guy (other than what Michelle does to him in private) it will be the End of the World, after all.

The Chapter about the Assassinations is called "The Echo Syndrome: A Precursor of Assassinations." p. 29. The Echo Syndrome is simply Blackman's way of saying that one must be able to find similar aspects in every chart. He begins the chapter by describing how he couldn't find similarities in the charts of the Presidents themselves and discusses why.

"Some events are of such a clandestine nature that the only indications are repercussional; that is, they can be detected only by the environmental disturbances they create. This may come as a surprise to some astrologers who have relied too exclusively on such obvious sources as the Kennedy assassination chart. They might better have looked at Johnson's where the disaster of November 22, 1963 is more clearly etched than it ever was in the victim's. In fact, it is so clearly indicated that it is now possible to anticipate and -- hopefully - avert incidents of this type in the future."

Blackman's solution is "you don't select a vice president who is on the same astrological trajectory as a Lyndon Johnson -- or a Teddy Roosevelt -- or a Chester Arthur -- or an Andrew Johnson -- all of whom exhibited the same deadly horoscopical formula the day their predecessors were shot." (the words "repercussional" and "horoscopical" are inventions used in the text).

The echo syndrome is Blackman's way of saying that one looks for similar planetary aspects running through all the charts. He says that astrologers often can't find these because
"(1) Converted declinations to longitude to get alternate progressed readings; (2) considered prenatal factors in their assessment. Both contribute to our understanding of the succession phenomena by linking what appears to be totally diverse horoscopes to a common set of principles."

Blackman first shows the obvious commonalities in the Vice Presidents according to the transits. He discusses Mars-Sun alignments, Saturn-Descendant aspects, Moon-Venus contacts that a couple VP's share with one other VP. The results are scattered but shared with one other of the Successor VPs. He then uses multiple techniques and finds similar placements which he says seem to describe the event best. All charts have these patterns.

"The assassination syndrome then can be described as a convergence of three, possibly four, major influences, all expressed in the charts of successor horoscopes. They are in essence: (1) a Mars-Sun alignment, (2) a Saturn-Sun or chart angle alignment, or both, and (3) a favorable Jupiter-Sun aspect."

It's not as simple as it sounds. The author is using Solstice Points, Converse Directions, Parallels, and more. He converted Saturn's declination to longitude in Roosevelt's Chart in order to achieve the line-up. He explains which methods he uses. This information would be difficult to pull up in 1974 when Blackman wrote this book but is now pretty easy to pull up through computer programs. His orbs are very narrow in most cases.

Blackman's data for his research is given at the end of the article. Common to 4 successor presidents, Andrew Johnson, Chester B. Arthur, Teddy Roosevelt, Lyndon B. Johnson. He was using a noontime chart for Roosevelt which he says may not be correct:
