SuperMoons are Perigee (closest to earth) - Syzygy (New or Full Moons). No matter how much I try to remember that it doesn't seem to stick in my noodle.

The changing distance separating the Moon and Earth also affects tide heights. When the Moon is at perigee, the range increases, and when it is at apogee, the range shrinks. Every 7½ lunations (the full cycles from full moon to new to full), perigee coincides with either a new or full moon causing perigean spring tides with the largest tidal range. If a storm happens to be moving onshore at this time, the consequences (property damage, etc.) can be severe.

Dark Moon Lilith is calculated from the Apogee, or from the long line of space which leads to the apogee on the elliptical orbit that the moon travels around the earth. Don't quote me on this. But, doesn't it makes sense that Lilith would represent the shrunken tides. She one p'o'd lady.

There are interesting phenomena called Neap and Spring Tides which affect the flow of the oceans. These are connected with the times between the Quarter Moons and the New and Full Moons. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ebb_tide.

I tried to figure out how to read the tables in order to figure out whether there was a SuperMoon at the time that the song EbbTide was brought out. Don't know if I'm correct here but I believe that there was a SuperMoon on Sept. 23, 1953 at 4:16 am (GreenwichT?). The Full Moon was about 20 or 30 minutes apart and this was also a Fall Solstice. There were significant outer planet configurations as Saturn and Neptune were in conjunction in Libra squaring Uranus in Cancer and trining Jupiter in Gemini. The Wikipedia entry for Sept. 1953 has the shortest list of events for this month for the whole year. There was a deadly hurricane on Sept. 25 which killed 1000 people. Can't remember where. China was rejected from the United Nations. That's pretty significant. I guess this was the McCarthy era. That's one tide that was best left to Ebb its way on out.

Knut Dies On The SuperMoon

Knut the Amazing Polar Bear has died at the Berlin Zoo today. He was only 5 years old. He passed at some time in the afternoon as 600 or 700 visitors watched.

I don't have a birth time for Knut but he was most likely a Sagittarius with Gemini Moon. This means that he was a Full Moon baby himself. His Moon was probably placed (can't say for sure without a birth time) in an exceptional way in his natal chart as it was traveling fast and was out of bounds. This says that there was something exceptional about how he was nurtured and that he probably lived with a hypersensitivity of some sort. His story seems to describes some of this. As befits a Gemini Moon Knut was born with a twin brother. Gemini is the sign of the Twins. However, the boys' Mother (Moon) rejected them soon after they were born. The Brother died 4 days later (More sorrow). This means that Knut's progressed Sun was very close in degree to where the transiting Sun was when his brother was born. (4 days per each year). But Knut was surrounded by a great deal of attention by the zookeepers and managed to be the first to survive birth in captivity. He became a great public success (Moon). Even his death happened before a huge crowd as his progressed Moon may have been in conjunction with his natal Saturn.

In his progressed chart Knut's Mercury (sibling) and Mars (brother) were in exact conjunction with his natal Jupiter at 3 Sagittarius.

I've written a post previously about how most Polar Bears are Sagittarians (doi) because they are born in December. That certainly explains why they are so loveable. It possibly explains how their existence became unstable as Pluto transited through that sign.

Knut's natal Saturn was stationing Retrograde at 26 Leo when he was born and was opposing Neptune 18 Aquarius. This could explain his captivity and broad mass appeal to go along with that heavily aspected Moon in his chart. Sagittarians need their freedom.

Scientists share: Tides are bigger during Full Moons and tides do tend to trigger earthquakes.

Nolle says that Mar. 16-22 are major windows for earthquakes and natural disasters. Yesterday there were a couple of major earthquakes. A 7.2'er or something in Northern Japan.

The Sun is moving into Aries, and Cardinal Signs might be connected with more chance of an earthquake in California. This year is pretty tricky because the Sun will be passing over Jupiter in Aries. And Uranus is moving into that sign as well. And Sun-Jupiter-Uranus in the sign that Mars rules, with Saturn Cardinal. Eek. Who's buying the beer to ride this one out?

Wow, I bet that there will be an explosion of new species created. And the Sun might blow us up. Not that I'm neurotic and panicking or anything.

Autumn Equinox 2010, Full Moon, Leads into Pluto-NN conjunction end of November

The Autumn Equinox is here. It's connected with an approaching Full Moon which becomes Full about 6-7 hours later. This shows heightened awareness of others because, for one, it's a Libra Sun and for two it's a Full Moon. So people will be aware of others and will be very sensitive and feeling picked on at the same time. Plus, there's a Saturn-Pluto square connected with the Nodal Axis so people really will be your enemies. Be careful where you park the car tonight. Keep washing your hands. Don't let the kids talk to strangers. I'd recommend just staying home and avoiding strangers, actually. Anyone who approaches you right now just wants your money and will be a lousy Mother to your unborn children.

The Sun and Moon are very strong in this chart conjunct Saturn and Jupiter-Uranus respectively, so they hook into the big Outer Planet t-square. You might finally be able to pop that proverbial zit but I have to tell you that this one will leave a huge scar if you do. There could be a real harmonious blending of political differences between people at this point if only the chart didn't show a Grand Square. So, don't know how that will turn out. Squares require using extra energy to face the challenge which they represent.

Mercury rules the chart through Virgo Rising and is placed in the 4th House along with the Sun 1 Libra. Virgo rules Work, Public Health, Criticisms, Nagging, Analysis. I always think that Buddhism is Virgonian presented in its highest form and I've really been wondering where all the damn Buddhists are right about now. They were so pleasant. Am certainly tired of the Muslims. Maybe it was just that picture on Time Magazine showing the beautiful Arab woman whose nose had been chopped off by her In-Laws for some dumb ass reason. And then right after the Imam in New York setting up shop too close to Ground Zero while saying that Muslims aren't all extremists. Religious fervor, anyone? Just concentrate on the Statue of Liberty and hopefully she'll still be standing by next Spring.

Charts here are pulled up for Washington DC so I suppose this one describes what will happen for the United States, and maybe a couple of our finest Politicians. Boy, this isn't a good time to decide to be a hooker, that's for sure. With Mars conjunct Venus in Scorpio sextiling Pluto and the North Node and all that Mercury there's no way you could have sex with anyone and not come down with the clap. These lines run through both the West Coast and India. Hmmm, what could that mean? With Moon-Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Pisces up in the 10th there's going to be some weird shit going on during the elections. Civil Rights issues, hopefully no Martyrs, definitely corruption, promises, pay-offs. Mercury wants you to think of everyone as your sister or your brother or your aunt. Some sort of relative who you would die for but don't necessarily live with because that would be torture.

So, first order of priorities for this Equinox, wear a condom. Or at least invest in a Condom company. If you're not having sex with people it's just because they are perverts and are spying on you instead.

The Sun in H4 here is conjunct Saturn over the H5 cusp so there is emphasis on laying plans, looking for leadership, settling in. The Real Estate Market is bottoming out? maybe. Mercury is chart ruler and is in the 4th House unaspected to other planets so everyone's going to be calling everyone else a bigot. Problem is, with Pluto-NN in the 7th House everyone really is a bigot, especially the ones who call the other ones bigot. Either way, something connecting contracts and writings with home and real estate. There might also be problems with communicable diseases, Virgo rules House 4 as well. I know that the Whooping cough has hit California, which is especially dangerous for babies. Be sure to get a booster shot as the stuff stays in your system and is contagious for a really long time after symptoms. Adults don't necessarily know that they've got it. At any rate, if somebody invites you over for dinner, ask if you can clean their dishes beforehand. No wait, that's rude. Well, is it?

The Full Moon which comes about 6 hours after the Equinox shows Mercury conjunct the Ascendant, still very strong. The Sun is in the 1st House opposing Moon-Jupiter-Uranus in the 7th House. This Full Moon is right on the Aries Points so Libra-Aries issues will come to the fore. Relationship shit. They rule the resource houses in both Equinox and Full Moon charts.

So the Full Moon occurs a few hours later. This is also an Aries Pointy situation so new beginnings are definitely settling in and coming out into the public view. Hopefully, they're not bad beginnings but the growing process is a selfish thing so there will be some problems.

This continues the Health stuff with Neptune-Chiron unaspected in the 6th House. Pluto-NN in the 4th House. Everyone's quarantined at home. Difficult to contain or diagnose?

Today's Full Moon could really turn into a Fool Moon if you're not careful. There are quite a few difficult aspects right now that are within 1 degree orb of each other.

The Sun and Mars are in opposition at 10 Aquarius-Leo. This is certainly a time when a problem could be coming to a head if you have a planet with close orb connection with those points. Don't bite anyone and don't let anyone bite you.

Because Mars is going through a Retrograde phase this is called a synodic cycle. Mars will once again passing over this spot between Apr. 21-24. At that point it will also be in difficult square aspect to the Sun and Mercury(which will be Retrograde). So there could be need to revise what goes wrong right now.

Today's Moon connects into the Sun-Mars opposition. Full Moons are oppositions of the Sun to the Moon. They are emotional in themselves. They control the parts of the physical body ruling water retention and fevers so perhaps one should remember to drink lots of water today to keep things flowing. Also I think I might pop a couple Vitamin C's to keep inflamation (Mars, Sun) down. The earthquake survivors down in Haiti are at most risk right now for problems related to unsanitary conditions and infection.

This is an even more potent contact because Mars has been lead planet in a Locomotive Chart shape. Right now the Moon is Lead Planet and will pass this on to Mars within about an hour or so when the Full Moon is exact.

The longer term and equally difficult Saturn-Pluto square is also in exact aspect today. Saturn and Pluto working together rule Pollution so one can see how difficult the Inflammatory Full Moon/Mars connection could be. Sure wish there was a planet in Virgo today as that could show a positive influence for sanitation along with desire to work through practical details in order to fix the problems.

The keyword for "square" is "Challenge." So if one embraces the challenge as something to be survived and solved one will have the energy devoted to fixing the problem. Saturn right now is actually in positive sextile-trine aspect to the Full Moon so this is possible.

"You Knew Just What I Was There For"

Last night's New Year's Eve Blue Moon was the first New Year's Eve Blue Moon since 1990. That means that this was the second Full Moon in a month. This is something which happens about every 2.7 years. Interesting article here which explains the whole story about the Blue Moon lore.

The first guy who used the Blue Moon idea in terms of the Full Moon actually got the info wrong. According to the article he was an amateur astronomer writing for an astronomy magazine. His name was James Hugh Pruett. Just because I'm nuts I started wondering if there was anything about Pruett's natal moon which would look extra strange. Don't have a birth time for the guy but did find his birth date. Turns out he would have had an Aquarius Moon. That would have given him an electric blue moon. Also, Pruett was born on the last degree of Gemini which puts his Sun within reach of the Cancer Point or Summer Solstice. Also, he had a conjunction of Mercury to Saturn in the sign of Cancer. None of this really means much, I guess.

I did notice a couple of details which might explain why Pruett made the error and also why he still managed to make the Blue Moon idea famous.

Saturn conjunct Mercury in Cancer which is the sign ruled by the Moon. Both of these planets were conspiring to bring out Cancer's silly side in Pruett's chart. In 1946 when Pruett published the article he was going through his Saturn Return. By default Saturn rules all things House Ten, which is what you're known for.

I sort of just had to wonder if Pruett's progressed Mercury were moving Retrograde. Yup. It was at 21 Leo and snarling up his communications. Leo is the Master of Tall Tales.

Pruett was also born during the conjunction of Neptune to Pluto. These guys were all amateur astronomers. I wonder if the Babylonians, who were great astronomers, were influenced heavily by some sort of a big Neptune-Pluto conjunction.

The mistake that Pruett made was to say that a Blue Moon is the 3d Full Moon in a Season where there are 4 Full Moons. That's really confusing. Two astronomers came along and set the record straight in 1999. They explained that Blue Moons happen when there are two Full Moons in a month.

2 Mass Shootings Last Week

Last week there were two mass shootings within two days. The first one, on Thursday, a Military Psychiatrist specializing in treatment of PTSD victims of the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars gunned down a bunch of his comrades at Fort Hood in Texas. The story is complicated by the fact that the shooter was of Arab descent and has been showing signs of loyalties to his heritage rather than his nation. The military and the media is questioning whether or not this was a terrorist attack. Nobody is questioning whether or not modern psychiatrists know what the hell they are doing. Shouldn't they have been the first to question this guy's sympathies with suicide bombers?

My first thought after hearing of the shooting was that the psychiatrist had heard so many PTSD stories that he just lost his mind, kind reminded me of that old episode of Night Gallery episode about the dying Sineater. The Sineater's profession was to sit by the corpse of people who paid him to eat a meal. By doing this he absorbed the sins they had committed during their lifetimes and so releasing their souls to go on to Heaven. Complicated part of the story is that the Sineater is about to die and he wants his Son to take over his profession. The Son, of course, must not only take over his father's awful profession but also must eat all the sins that his Father now contains within his soul. And that's a whole boat load of sins. The last scene is a gory close up of the Son's face as he gorges himself with food and panic. (Wonder if that's when my anorexia started).

Anyway, that's what the story first reminded me of. I completely doubted that the Army Shrink would be a terrorist. Then I looked at his chart. He doesn't have an obvious chart for a mass shooter except that I would expect a Virgo Sun/Scorpio Moon to be a really good aim with a rifle. Well, there's also a Mars-South Node conjunction.

The Shooter/Shrink, Major Hasan, is just past his Pluto square. That can be a difficult passage in a person's life regarding all things Pluto, things concerning one's feelings of power and impotence. Hasan's has been especially difficult as transiting Saturn has been passing over his natal Pluto at the same time while Uranus opposes this past year. Uranus, Pluto, and Saturn working together will certainly bring out a vulnerability to PTSD. Saturn (fear of failure, bitterness) and Pluto (resentment, revenge) can bring depression and Uranus can bring shock, weird and erratic behavior. The orb is considered kind of wide, about 5 or 6 degrees. But, in my opinion, Pluto transits have a long aftereffect, especially when they've been accompanied by other heavy transits and progressions.

Hasan's progressed Mars has been hanging out on top of his natal Pluto and transiting Saturn. That can certainly inflame feelings of rage that seem to come from out of nowhere.

After looking at the shooter's chart I immediately felt that he had not been acting alone. Maybe it's just difficult for me to understand why someone with Middle Eastern heritage would take a job like this in the first place.

Something interesting is that Hasan has a natal Venus-Jupiter conjunction, just like James Arthur Ray, the guy who recently led 3 people to their deaths in a Sweat Lodge in Sedona. (I wrote about this in my blog entry, 1957 problems). Hasan's natal Venus is at the end of Libra conjunct Jupiter in Scorpio. Not only was he going through his Venus Return during the shooting but Venus is squaring transiting Nodal axis. Not the usual transit for a shooting but it stands out.
Hasan's Progressed Venus has been passing through the sign of Scorpio for all of his life and it is now in conjunction with his Neptune at the end of Scorpio. I think it might be a notable connection that the Juipter-Chiron-Neptune conjunction was conjunct the Ascendant at the time of the shooting. At some point Venus has passed over his natal Moon in Scorpio.

I definitely am thinking that this is a frustrated guy thing especially with the Virgo Sun and Middle Age thing. Plus, he's probably been on meds (p.Venus on Neptune) and those things have a repeated history of creating shoot-em-ups. There's this weird conundrum is that the psychiatric profession urges people with traumatic disorders to "get help." And then the truth is they don't have treatments for the trauma.

I wonder if the military or the psychiatric profession is going to do anything to make amends to his patients. In addition to the victims who were slaughtered last Thursday, these people have had insult added to injury.

Hasan started working in psychiatry in 2001 and his mid-Virgo degree Sun would have been squared by the Saturn-Pluto opposition that centered on the Twin Towers attacks. (I sort of remember Michael Lutin pointing out that tense Saturn-Pluto contacts are very often related to the Middle East conflicts). What bad timing for a guy of Arab descent to be entering the Military. That's a bummer job, even for a Virgo Sun/Scorpio Moon workaholic.

The second shooter was a frustrated mentally ill guy whose life has been in free fall. He went to an old workplace and started shooting. He is born only a year apart from Hasan. It's interesting to me that both men were born within a year of each other and in the same Month. Both share a Pisces North Node and a Virgo South Node. They both committed their crimes at their workplaces (Virgo). And they will both probably be considered victims (Pisces) in the end through their mental illness. Pisces also rules drugs so it sure would be interesting to know if pharmaceuticals were somehow to blame. It definitely looks like the Saturn-Uranus-Pluto t-square transit is really hurting these guys (and their victims and their victims' families and friends and coworkers).

Rodriguez' chart is classic for a shooter. Sun conjunct Uranus and Jupiter squaring Mars.

Last Thursday and Friday it's interesting to notice that the Moon was Out-of-Bounds and moving very fast. Plus it was passing over the Gemini-Cancer cusp which is an Aries Point and opposing Pluto and squaring Saturn. That's one busy Moon.

In addition, the Sun was conjunct Mercury in Scorpio and squaring Mars in Leo. Scorpio as a sign is related to all taboo behaviors, murder included. This square was vaguely angular over the Descendant and Midheaven cusps for both shootings.

It's also interesting that the attacks occurred while the Jupiter-Chiron-Neptune conjunction was in the 1st house of both event charts. In Hasan's case this reads out in literal terms as Religion-Wounded Healer-the Unexplained/Terrorism/BadReactionstoPsychMeds.

In the case of Jason Rodriquez' attack, Capricorn was rising and this conjunction was not a prominently placed but still angular in the 1st house. Mars was on the Descendant.

San Francisco Bay Bridge Collapse

Astrology could have helped in this case with the Uh Oh It's Mercury Retrograde warning. Mercury rules roads and local transportation so this makes sense.

This is very frightening: The Bay Bridge which links San Francisco to the Berkeley/Oakland area collapsed in the spot where repairs had been made over this past Labor Day Week-end. The Bridge is now closed until further notice.

The Bridge had been scheduled for closure over the long September holiday week-end. Half-way through the repairs the workers found a crack and this kept the Bridge closed until the next Wednesday morning. So the Bridge was closed from September 4-9. That's a long time and this is a major artery. Over the Labor Day Week-end Mercury Stationed Retrograde at 7 Libra. He was also squaring Mars in Cancer and Pluto in Capricorn.

Also over that period of time Saturn was opposing Uranus which was hit by a Full Moon. So, Mercury wasn't working by himself.

Two days ago, on Tuesday the Rod (whatever that is, read this, sorry its Fox but this was just the most informative article I could find) that had been replaced at some point during the repairs fell down during Rush Hour.

This is the same bridge that fell down during the Loma Prieta earthquake. That also hit at Rush House back in 1989. (October 17, 1989, around 5:04 pm). The Astrology is really creepy. Pluto at 1 Capricorn is at the spot where Uranus was at that time. Uranus was conjunct Saturn 9 Capricorn-Neptune 10 Capricorn opposing Jupiter 11 Cancer-Chiron Cancer. And Mercury was at 10 Libra which is a Mercury Return almost to the degree! They say that Mercury Returns like to bring things back to you from the past. They're not kidding (in this case at least)!

Notice also the other outer planet couplings that are similar. Saturn and Uranus (conjunct 1989 now opposing 2009). Jupiter-Neptune-Chiron (opposing in 1989, now conjunct).

Bay Bridge falls apart

Mercury is on the last degree of Libra in this chart, ruling the 3d House and squaring the Nodal Axis. It is also in conjunction with the Sun and is placed angular in the 7th House so is strong in the chart.

The Big Wig planet that stands out to me at least, is Mars. Mars here is ruling the chart, is a singleton in Fire, is the Lead planet of the Locomotive chart shape and is squaring the Sun. It is one degree away from being in the 4th House so it's not quite angular.

Saturn is still trining the Nodal Axis which it disposits. I'd say it's very widely opposing Uranus at this point (about 6 degree orb but the computer program doesn't show the opposition). It is now, however, squaring Pluto which is a destruct and destroy aspect.

Good thing is that nobody was killed. Two vehicles were damaged and I'm sure glad I wasn't driving either one of them.

The Bridge is now closed. You know I think we'll be wishing we would have an earthquake. The sewers are backflowing into the water supply. The bridge is definitely not safe to drive on. All this stuff needs a major demo so things can just be rebuilt.

Kind of bizarre that Saturn, planet that rules building, has been trining the North Node which is in its sign (and conjunct Lilith -- I swear to God Lilith is always there when this kind of poo goes down). I think she's just giving everyone a heads up you stupids.

The Oakland Bay Bridge was opened for traffic on Nov. 12, 1936. This was a New Moon in Scorpio. There was a Saturn-Neptune opposition. It's 73 years old. If "Bridge Years" are the same as "People Years" then I guess it's showing its age.

Newborn Waking Up for His Wake

Here's a little story of the Eclipses in Action.

A Baby born at a hospital in Paraquay was announced dead after Doctors couldn't find a pulse. The baby, a boy, weighed slightly more than a pound and was born 16 weeks premature. He was placed in a box and taken home for his Wake and Burial. His Mother was still at the hospital but his Father heard crying from the box. When checked the baby started to move his hands and cry more. The baby literally didn't bother to wake up until a few hours after his birth!

Interesting to notice how much of this chart is in very late degrees of the signs indicated.

First off, the baby is a Leo Sun born on the 3d Eclipse of the Summer. His Sun is very strong in its own sign. It is further strengthened by the fact that it is a singleton planet in Fire.

The time that I've read on the video looks to me like 18:30. This puts the Moon at 25 Aquarius conjunct Neptune 26 Aquarius-Chiron 25 Aquarius-Jupiter 24 Aquarius. This is just passing over the Ascendant (29 Aquarius) and is in the 12th House! Either way this whole stellium is connected with the first house and Ascendant which shows conditions surrounding a baby's birth.

The sign of the Ascendant, Aquarius, indicates shock, surprise, hopes and wishes, and awakenings! Neptune shows deep sleep. Chiron shows "wounded healer." Jupiter shows "lucky son of a gun." Jupiter alone in the 12th House indicates an angel in the person's life. The Moon shows birth as well as indicating the Mother.

This stellium is squaring the baby's Midheaven in Scorpio. A square is a challenging aspect and the Midheaven is how others perceive a person. Scorpio rules the sign of death and mortuaries and difficult circumstances. Funny how early this stuff kicks in in life. It can also indicate Doctors. This baby may grow up to be a Doctor himself.

Full Moon Leads to Huge #'s of Shootings in Chicago

Chicago has had 31 shootings this Week-end so far. The murders sound mostly gang related, but there were other types of shootings as well. Ages of the victims range from 14 to 65. I know it's a Full Moon from 1 Taurus Sun opposing 1 Scorpio Moon and was wondering if this would indicate more violence than usual. Mars is still out of bounds (I'm having trouble with my computer program but I think this will end finally next week).

I was wondering if this affected Chicago's natal chart in a significant way. Wowzah. Like a charm. Somebody needs to set up a Database to alert Police in different cities.

Chicago's Nodes are at 3 Taurus (NN) and 3 Scorpio! Not only that but they are squaring an opposition of Mars-Jupiter in Leo to Neptune and probably its Moon in Aquarius.

The article (http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=news/local&id=6091849) says that there is now a lot of talk about the need for Gun Control in Chicago. Saturn and Pluto are the Planets that indicate control and they were in a Grand Trine/Kite figure with the Full Moon and Mercury. It's a little late for those who were murdered but something good might come out of this anyway.

Chicago's prog. Mars (at 19 Libra0 is also pulling out of an opposition to Chicago's natal Pluto at 15 Aries. That could explain Chicago's high violence rate (much higher than New York or Los Angeles) which might subside on its own. Either way, Chicago is due for a huge change as its progressed Sun is conjunct prog. Jupiter at 30 Leo. That's Leo's last degree so the Sun will move into Virgo next year. Virgo rules Police.
