Getting Started With Bunny Berigan

Cardinal Signs are the ignition points of the horoscope wheel.  They represent the Solstice and Equinox Points which show beginnings of the Seasons on planet earth.Cardinal Signs represent beginnings and starting points.

So this reminded me of one of my favorite songs.

I sort of wondered if Bunny had Cardinal Sign issues in his chart.  He did.  He had a Cardinal t-square with apex Mars 15 Libra squaring Uranus 14 Capricorn opposing Neptune 18 Cancer Rx.  He was also born with Libra Rising which is a Cardinal Sign.

Berigan had that big natal a Cardinal Sign t-square in his natal chart.  And he lived through the Great Depression which was the last time that Saturn-Uranus and Pluto were in a big Cardinal Sign t-square configuration with each other.

And in 1937 when Berigan performed "I Can't Get Started" there was a Jupiter-Pluto opposition over his natal Uranus-Neptune.

Berrigan was a Scorpio Sun with Libra Rising.  I think it's interesting to notice that Mars, the Great Ignition of the Zodiac was in Retrograde for half of 1937 between Libra and Scorpio which means that Mars spent half that year pretty much standing over his Ascendant between his natal Mars in Libra (H12), his Ascendant-Mercury Retrograde conjunction and his 1st House Sun.  That's a lot of fire on the starting point of one's chart.

So, if you are currently spinning your wheels in a ditch somewhere because the Cardinal Sign stuff is just too overwhelming, it just means that it's time to do a little dance.

Berigan died in 1942 at age 33.  The Doctor told him that he would die if he didn't stop drinking and didn't stop playing trumpet.  He said he could do neither. One can see the stubbornness of a Fixed Sun and Moon here.  Age 33 is the year that one's Solar Return Chart puts one's planets pretty much back in the houses where they were when one was born. 

Oh yeah, and I can't talk about a musician without discussing Venus.  Venus in this chart is conjunct Lilith at the end of Virgo (H11).  It opposes Saturn in Aries (fall) and squares Pluto-NN at end of Gemini.  That can also sort of explain the tragic short life.

Legos Thefts Barcode Scams

Weird stories.  This was the Mars Retrograde where all the grown men got caught stealing Legos toys from Target Stores. Apparently this is the new hip crime which involves switching bar codes to lower the prices of the toys and then either saving them or reselling them on Ebay.  Whew, What's a Trekkie to do during a Double Dip Recession/Depression.  At any rate, this partially explains why all those Target employees are harassing me when I go into the store.  When I first saw the mugshots I thought it was a hoax and had a little anxiety attack because I know they're after me as well. 

I guess this isn't just happening in the Silicon Valley but it certainly seems as if these guys are working together.  They seem to have marked out their turf and don't steal from each other's stores.  This week the crimes became big news because a Vice President from a Tech firm, a rich guy, was caught and arrested.  Apparently the thieves print out labels at home and switch the labels in the stores and then get caught on videotape.  The guy from San Francisco is unemployed and only made a couple grand on his purchases but the Silicon Valley exec made about $30,000 over the last year.  Another guy in Oklahoma was also caught recently.

Here's a story about it. 

Had to look up the Astrology and the extended transit of Mars in Virgo to Neptune in Pisces really stands out. In the 3 event charts which I have all the information for this opposition is passing over the ASC/DESC pole.  This combination certainly could be related to crime as Mars is aggression, impulsive acts and also rules all things related to little boys.  Neptune rules deception and also self undoing.  So together they can be thought to represent some kind of theft, burglery and deceptive crime.  This year they have been opposing each other for an extra long time because of Mars' Retrograde transit, a once every two year event.

Mars has been in Virgo, sign connected with technology, details, marketing, employees.  Neptune has just entered his own sign of Pisces and he has been in conjunction with Chiron, Wounder Teacher/Healer imagery.

Earlier in the year, Mars in Virgo was also strong because he was in a Grand Earth trine with the Jupiter (Toys) and Pluto (crime, theft). Thomas Langenbach, the executive thief apparently also collects the toys. The Grand Trine might represent thefts the men got away with.  Trines often bring Luck.

Mars into Virgo Nov. 10, 2011 until July 3, 2012

Mars-Jupiter-Pluto Grand Trine phasing in and out most of this time.  Read Eric Francis' blog post for more info.

Mars opposing Neptune starting phasing in and out (within orb) while Mars was still in Leo back at the end of October (22) 2011.  The opposition has been extra long because of the Retrograde and also because of Neptune's conjunction with Chiron in Pisces and would have become very intense when the Sun passed over Neptune-Chiron Feb . 26, 2012 to about Mar. 18, 2012.

In the surveillance camera video charts the Sun is also approaching conjunction with Jupiter and Lilith in Taurus and is just past the Midheaven, highest part of the chart.  This puts the crimes into "The Limelight."

In all 3 of the charts for thefts which I was able to get time, date, and place, the Mars-Neptune opposition has been very close to the Ascendant/Descendant axis with Mars in the 1st house.  1st House will show perpetrators.  The other side shows victims.  I haven't looked up the chart for Target but do know that Neptune is connected to cameras and getting films and the men are being arrested because of videotape surveillance.

Sun is also conjunct Lilith and Jupiter (widely).  Boys just wanna have fun with toys.

Mercury, Venus and Mars Retrogrades of 2012, 1st half

People with major points in their charts at Mid-Mutable signs are catching the brunt of some tricky energy this year from the Venus and Mars Retrogrades.  Mutable Signs are about refining things and finishing things up.  Mutable Signs are closers.  Probably even the Geminis if you can keep them from getting distracted or chain them to some Scorpios or other Fixed Signs.

Mars stationed Rx on  Jan 23, 2012 at 24 Virgo and then stationed D on  Apr. 13, 2012 at 4 Virgo.  It will return to its point of Rx, 24 Virgo on June 19, 2012.  This means that 4 through 24 degrees of Virgo are probably a little more impulsive and inspired than usual. Mars usually has a retrograde aspect about every 2 years, I think its slightly more than 2 years but don't quote me and I'm not looking it up.  Virgos may be feeling like they are getting picked up by the nape of their necks and pulled along at very fast speeds right now.  The other Mutable Signs might be feeling like they are getting pushed

A major aspect of any Mars Retrograde is that it includes an opposition from Mars to the Sun.  This occurred this year on March 3 with Sun at 14 Pisces opposing Mars at 14 Virgo Rx.

The last Mars Rx was in Leo-Cancer and included an opposition from Pluto over the important 1 Cancer/Capricorn points.  This was right around the time that the Saturn, Uranus t-square would have been forming.

This Sun-Mars synodic cycle might promise Success for those afflicted ro affected as Mars was in a Grand Trine with Jupiter in Taurus and Pluto in Capricorn.  At the time of the opposition Mars was in the 2d House and Sun was in the 8th House.  This doesn't seem like the world's most ethical combination but it does seem lucky.  

I remember reading once, but can't verify the truth of, that Mars has the most erratic cycle of all the planets.

All the planets outside of the Earth's orbit will have an opposition like this.  This is called a Synodic Cycle.

The two planets which are inside the Earth's orbit, that's Mercury and Venus, will have conjunctions to the Sun instead of oppositions.

Venus is currently traveling through the sign of Gemini.  She will go retrograde on May 15.  She will then be in conjunction with the Sun on June 5.

Venus and the Sun have a very regular cycle in which they are in conjunction every 18 months.  This is a very interesting cycle because of all the cycles it is the most precise.  5 of these cycles in a row puts them back almost in the same spot in the Astrological Wheel.  This cycle makes up a star pattern on the wheel which looks like a pentagram.  This Venus Rx is the end of an eight year cycle which is rare.

Venus will be in conjunction with the Sun on June 5 this year at 16 Gemini.  It will square Mars at 17 Virgo and widely trine Saturn at 24 Libra Rx.

I would assume that Gemini's are getting some extra help by this Venus transit but I'm certainly not.  And a composer-artist I used to know who was born on June 5 or 6 committed suicide last year.  Venus and Sun together can often have that effect.  At least that's my observation, but most astrologers would probably like to say that this is a great time to get married.  June is a big month for marriage.  Why not wait until October this year?

And speaking of Angst.

Mercury, that nervour little beast, was in Rx in March and April. and was in conjunction with the Sun at 2 Aries.  It was also in conjunction with Uranus.  The rewiring of the world.

The Pulitzer Prize and the Mars Rx

Just as mars in Virgo stations direct the Pulitzer prizes are announced and lo behold two categories don't receive any awards. Mars in Virgo is so critical that during this extended retrograde period nobody could see fit to give any awards for editorial writing or fiction. Virgo rules editing, so, basically, all attempts at editing last year were edited out. Virgo lacks drama and gets a little bogged down in details so the lack of a fiction award isn't all that surprising. Virgo loves horror and I think that's the only subject that it could Overlook typos on. Virgo is actually strongly associated with writing because it rules editing and perfecting the details, you do want to have some in your chart.

It's also good to pay attention to the fact that people my age are probably now starting to give out the awards and we were born at the beginning of the Pluto in Virgo generation. Not only has the mars Rx been affecting our natal plutos, but Neptune-Chiron has been opposing. That's wipeOut, thank you Noel tyl. And Pluto in Capricorn is training so our earth stinginess is running on full fire. I hate us right now. Actually I've never really liked us very much except for the organic farmers.

There were three pit bull attacks in salinas, California on Saturday morning. Take that, westminster dog show.

Hmmm. Where to start. The moon was in conjunction with Venus in Aries. perhaps that's a signature for macho dogs who are looking for companionship.

So, why were such dangerous animals roaming Loose around neighborhoods? Saturn represents restraints and restrictions. Saturn is on the last degree of libra and trining Neptune, planet of the wilderness. Neptune is angular in the first house in conjunction with the sun and Chiron. Saturn is up in the 9th house of freedom loving Sagittarius. Answer to that is...

The sun-Neptune-Chiron conjunction is just about to rise over the ascendant at 5:30 when the first pit bull attacked another pit bull. Uranus was ruling this chart, 3aries in h3.

This conjunction is in the 12th house when the 2dpit bull attacked a woman who was out walking her dog at 7:40 am. Neptune was ruling this chart. 1pisces in the 12th house.

Sun-Neptune-Chiron was in the 10th house when a pit bull attacked a chihuahua at 11:30 am. Mercury was ruling this chart. Mercury was at 21 Pisces up in the 10th house.

So that conjunction is up in the quadrant that means something which I can't ever remember. Something about being very social and doing your own thing. Yeah, sounds about right.

The Pisces energy might indicate that poisoning might be involved which made the dogs crazy. Salinas is a farming community and there may have been some spraying that settled into the drinking water.

Oppositions often describe relationship issues and the only opposition on Saturday morning was mercury in pisces opposing mars Rx in Virgo. Inner planetary balancing act. Mercury rules household pets through rulership of Virgo and mars disposits to mercury and is retrograde.

Mars in Virgo could also show that the police were extra busy that morning. And mars rules weaponry which is what these dogs are.

Who Loves the Future, Baby? California Agriculture

February 2 wasn't just Ground Hog's Day. In California it was "Wonderful World of Agriculture Day." On February 2, Governor Jerry Brown appointed an Organic Farmer to head, get this, the Department of Pesticide Regulation.

Brian Leahy was previously the Assistant Director of the California Department of Conservation. From 2000-2004 he was Executive Director of the California Certified Organic Farmers. Now he is Head of the Department of Pesticide Regulation. Brian Leahy is an organic farmer! And he can do politics!

Neptune has just moved into its own sign of Pisces and is just a few degrees away from having an exact Neptune Return in the natal chart for California. California's Sun is in Virgo (Sept. 9, 1850) and that opposes the sign of Pisces (not an opposition, though, because degrees are too far apart). If you're a control freak a Sun-Neptune opposition can be the transit from hell. Neptune just sort of makes sure you don't know what is going on for a few years. Then you wake up and look back and say, What the Hell just happened?

So, I thought we were all just going to have to succumb to the situations which are looking pretty dire. But, there you go. Wonders never cease (especially when you've got good leadership).

Neptune also rules hypersensitivity. The Neptunians will be the first to feel the poisons. They will also be more concerned for the welfare of others. And Neptune knows how to get what it wants, but through mellow means... and that does sound like California style.

I think that the Uranus-Pluto square is also an extremely strong influence here. Both of these planets create change, usually catastrophic change. Scary change that requires heroic adaptation. Pluto works from the underground and Uranus works from the Lightening Flash. They pull and zap at the same time and our knees get a little creaky. We can't really see them coming the way we can see Saturn crap coming. We don't necessarily feel like their experiences made us stronger.

Together Uranus and Pluto can be a PTSD diagnosis 20 years down the road. But, in this case, not only are we about to go through a Neptune Return, but we are going through a Ceres Return and Ceres has been in conjunction with Uranus! (It was a close one degree orb on February 2.) Ceres rules Farming! Ceres wants to make things grow. Ceres is a Goddess and she likes getting help from Uranus and Pluto when the tomatoes begin to taste like acid and the cantaloupe tastes like wax. On February 2, Ceres was at 5 Aries in conjunction with Uranus at 1 Aries. They were squared by Pluto at (oops didn't write it down) ___ Capricorn. Oh, wherever Pluto was.

Governor Brown is an Aries. Capricorn is Governance. Uranus shocks the shit out of everyone. Wonder what Leahy's sign is, of course, but couldn't find it. When we're relaxed we can see that Uranus represents Hopes and Wishes and the Future. And this so makes me love the future.

Virgo and Cancer also rule farming. Cancer, ruler of environment and home, has been at the empty leg of that long Cardinal Sign t-square totally needing to be represented.

Mars was at 21 Virgo was facing this extra long transit through that sign. It hadn't started moving Retrograde yet. So all things that Virgo rules, like jobs, service, public health, health habits, diet, hygiene, etc. will receive the benefits of extra attention.

Virgo's ruler, Mercury, was at 23 Sagittarius in a wide conjunction with The North Node at 15 Sagittarius. The Moon at Noon on February 2 was in Gemini. We got a new way of thinking (Gemini). We're getting new rules to play by (Sagittarius).

Everybody's favorite groundhog, Punxsatawney Phil, saw his shadow this morning so that means we can expect 6 more weeks of Winter. Good. That'll keep everyone indoors until the Mars retrograde is over. I don't know how Phil could see his shadow because supposedly it was cloudy and he had no shadow. Thought I'd look at the chart to see if I could divine what the hell he was actually looking at.

Well, with the Sun conjunct the Ascendant Phil was certainly in the limelight. Actually, that would mean that the photography lights and the flashes from the cameras were probably in his little eyes. With Neptune c. Chiron in Pisces, however, we can expect that not only was he spooked by all the attention, his prediction will be spot on accurate. Pisces very psychic. Aquarius not bad either.

Mars in Virgo rules household pets. It was in the 7th House so maybe Phil is actually indicated in the chart by the 7th House. I get this stuff all mixed up. Mars opposing Venus in Pisces so some lady's Estee Lauder probably setting off his allergies.

I just thought of something. Punxsatawney, Pennsylvania is where Phil lives in his hole. But, I was wondering if Phil got his first name from Philadelphia. Get it? Phil? Philadelphia? Are the two towns close together? Do I really have to Google it and then suffer trying to make another link?

Master My Master

Mars in Virgo turned Retrograde last week and will remain so until mid-April. While reading this letter from a freed slave to his previous master all I could think is how appropriate it is for a Mars in Virgo Rx transit.

Virgo rules matters of employment.

Mars rules "doing your own thing (Maritha Pottenger's description)." Mars also rules guns and being shot at.

Retrogrades are sometimes thought to bring things back from the past. I was curious to know what sign Mars was in back in August, 1865 when Jourdan Anderson wrote this letter to Colonel P.H. Anderson. Had a feeling ....

Turns out Mars was in Virgo at the time as well! This is a Mars Return by about 3 degrees! And Mars was conjunct Mercury which is Virgo's ruler so it's influence was extra strong.

Saturn was in Libra conjunct the North Node, so Saturn is also celebrating a Return of the time of the exchange.

This could account for the shocking details and tongue in cheek diplomacy displayed in the letter.

Venus was at 1 Cancer conjunct Uranus at 3 Cancer on August 7, 1865 when Jourdan Anderson wrote the letter about possibly returning to his "roots" in Tennessee.

The Return of the Ring

Okay so this ain't no JRR Tolkien blog post, my precioussssssssss.

And it ain't no Mahler song. (Rhinelegendchen from Des Knaben Wunderhorn)

But it's still a story about a really cool married couple, a ring. And, well, eh, a toilet.

Terry and Donna Claver have been married more than 38 years up in Billings, Montana. I don't have their birth dates and I don't have their wedding date but this particular story from their marriage sounds like a Nodal Cycly thing to me.

Terry proposed after the couple had gone on only 3 dates back in August, 1973. About a year and a half into the marriage, Donna was very very pregnant. While in the bathroom she took her engagement ring off to put some lotion on and watched as the ring fell into the toilet bowl. The couple did what they could to try to fish the thing out, but to no avail. A few years later they moved to a bigger house. This house was sold many times over and eventually bought by a group of hunters. This past Fall, the toilet froze up and broke so, by coincidence, just as the hunters were visiting their little one room cabin and removing the toilet, Terry the husband of our miracle story was across the street working on the neighbor's house. Terry asked for the toilet. The hunters handed it over. And when Terry got back to his shop he took a sledge hammer to the porcelain and released the engagement ring for once and for all. The story of how he used it to propose to Donna is really cute and is explained in the newspaper story linked to above.

Well, what do we expect from the Astrology? Rings go on the hand and fingers and hands are ruled by the sign of Gemini and its ruler Mercury. Marriage is ruled by Venus through her rulership of the sign of Libra. Venus also rules jewelry through the sign of Taurus. The ring was made of a pink sapphire. Sapphires are ruled by the sign of Virgo and Virgo's ruler, Mercury.

So, we see a lot of Mercury and Venus imagery. And here we go. This probably won't make sense.

Don't know the exact date that Terry reclaimed the engagement ring. But on Nov. 10 Mercury, ruler of fingers and rings, was in conjunction with Venus, ruler of marriage and Jewelry, at 10 Sagittarius. They were in conjunction with the North Node which was at 16 Sagittarius. I'm not sure what the significance of the sign of Sagittarius is except that Sagittarius is considered lucky and also a little clumsy. Sagittarius rules Hunters, so maybe that's the connection. I don't know what rules toilets freezing up and cracking. I think we'll just give chalk that one up to Global Warming weirdness, or maybe the weather in Billings, Montana. This transit of Mercury through Sagittarius is more significant than others because it is very long due to Mercury's Retrograde on Nov. 21. And also Merucry has had a very long conjunction transit with the North Node which rules the idea of events having to do with one's Destiny and Life Path.

Retrogrades are said to bring things back to you from the past. I've found that Uranus can as well because he rules circulatory systems and inexplicable events but don't know how other astrobuffs would feel about that.

Wish I had the exact dates. There might be a lot going on with these charts which explains this amazing event. It helps that Jupiter is passing through Taurus because Taurus, as said before, rules cash and possessions. It seems that Donna gave up on the ring but Terry continued to wish he could get it back. That's a Taurusy kind of thing.

It looks possibly like some interesting stuff through progressions in the charts. Again, I don't have the exact dates so this is very very fictitious.

In August, 1973, when the ring was bought, Mars was at 2 Taurus. This brings us back to Taurus thing. Taurus rules objects so a ring would be considered partly under its rulership. If the Aug. 15 is progressed forward from 1973 to 2011 to about 2 weeks before Thanksgiving (I used the date Nov. 10) then we notice that prog. Mars is now Retrograde. It stationed back in 2007-8. Transiting Jupiter is hanging over that point right now. Maybe that's when the Hunters bought the house. Jupiter represents luck, and also clumsiness and all kinds of accidents that occur like this.

Also interesting is that t. Neptune stationed Direct at 5 Sagittarius in August, 1975. (exact date: Aug. 17). I'm using what I'm assuming is the purchase date for the ring. Not the date that it went down the drain.

Prog. Neptune took roughly (very roughly) 2 years to come out of Rx by progression. The outer planets move extremely slowly by transit and almost not at by progression. The ring was lost during Donna's first pregnancy because she set it down on the toilet lid and it slid into the toilet where it jammed at the base.

So, the Mars and Neptune progressions probably don't have anything to do with anything. I just mentioned them because I'm always interested in seeing what planets do when changing direction whether by transit or by progression. It does seem that perhaps Neptune st r and Mars coming out of Rx by progression might be connected, but who knows.

During Aug, 1973 there was also a Venus-Pluto conjunction. The love vibes were very intense. Venus was either at the end of Virgo or beginning of Libra. Pluto was at 2 Libra. Venus rules marriage and Pluto partially rules plumbing as it rules anything that moves under ground. Venus also rules Love and Pluto rules Sexual attraction -- a minor part of this 38 year old marriage, I'm sure.

Pluto was at 3 Libra and Saturn was at 2 Cancer so they were in a close square. So, right off the bat we see that the marriage was due for a revamp during the past couple of years because these two planets were again squaring each other over other beginning Cardinal sign degrees.

Cancer is actually the other sign/planet which rule plumbing as it is a water sign and rules the home and anything that "drains" from the home.

Fall Equinox Fall 2011

Happy Equinox. It's getting dark early. You are getting sleepy. Actually, according to this chart you're too psycho to fall asleep, but what do I know?

There are a couple of indicators that things will be volatile and will occur on split notice. There's a Sun-Uranus opposition from Libra to Aries. That's the Aries Points. So that shows oppositions or needs to balance ego with group, resources involving taking risks and showing off with handling unexpected surprises within a group of strangers. Probably more interest in dealing with strangers than with individuals.

There is a Moon-Mars conjunction which is extremely volatile emotionally. Moon = the Public, adoring or not. Mars is impulsive, spark. Together they can be reactive and raging. This conjunction is in the 11th House. That's points back at the Uranus influence of the Sun.

Fall Equinox is always ruled by a Libra Sun, of course, and this may actually show ability to balance and harmonize and use these impulsive influences for good. With Virgo rising the chart is also ruled by Mercury and Mercury is placed very prominently here in the 1st House, conjunct the Sun, and in its own sign at 25 Virgo. Virgo is earthy, practical and shy and may also guide the flamboyant emotional influences usefully.

There are no planets in Water in this chart which shows a need to compensate. Either people will be super callous or super sensitive. Who knows which. And it looks like water, overabundance and drought are heavy in the Weather news.

Sun-Uranus and Moon-Mars in Leo are extremely creative influences. In this chart they hook into each other in a happy way because Moon-Mars is trining Uranus.

One only hopes this will pan out well because in the California Equinox chart which occurs 3 hours earlier the Moon-Mars conjunction is right on the Ascendant. This means that Leo is Rising and the Sun rules the chart. It looks like, if there's anything to astrology something significant will happen to the country through California.

Something to do with angry people, fire and water. A recent study was published which shows that the tap Water here is everything I have been saying that it is. Anyway, I also read in an internet article that people who drink Diet Coke are 48 percent more likely to have a stroke. That's probably why all these thin movie stars and news casters are having seizures during their presentations. It's the Diet Coke and the Neurontin which is probably still in the water from when my shrink prescribed it to everyone whether they needed it or not just because the company was treating her to all kinds of free week end trips to Hawaii.

What better Equinox to have a stroke under than one with a Moon-Mars conjunction on the Ascendant (ASC rules the head)?

I've also just read that people who wash their hands 4 times a day have much less fire retardant in their systems than people with less compulsive hygiene. Maybe the stuff acts as an embalming fluid or something and will save your loved ones dollars at the check out, if you know what I mean.

The California Equinox chart has 4 planets in the 3d house of communications, siblings, and neighborhoods. People want community, but they want their community. I for example am pretty sure that I don't want to smell anyone cooking curry because that smell doesn't evaporate, it just sticks. It also shows a lot of stupid gossipy people standing around water coolers. And cars and telephones. And young school kids who cough a lot.

The new iphone is coming out soon. Smart phones are great tools for gang stalkers. They can communicate with each other about your whereabouts 24/7. And then follow you around in their cars. So when you park they can then vandalize your car. Yay! And Homeland Security can hire all kinds of guys to hack your computer. And mafias worldwide can send all kinds of guys to do their own surveillance using whatever wifi hotspots you use. Yay again!

Saturn is in H2 of the Washington DC chart and is conjunct the IC of the California Equinox chart. So that shows crumbling old banks and crumbling old infrastructure.

Which reminds me of the police. You might want to stay away from them if you live in California. Pluto in Capricorn is on the H6 cusp. They will be a little power trippy. Pluto is in the 4th House for Washington so we're still standing in quick sand with enemies standing on the sidelines laughing their heads off.

Neptune-Chiron is in the 8th House of the California chart. I'm not going to go there. It is, shall I say, very creative. If you have a big ego and know someone with an original idea you will probably get away with taking credit for it and going on to achieve fame. This is the house where plagiarism begins. You will be a scum bag but as long as you don't feel guilt you can get away with it. Trust me, I had a step-family and know what people are capable of.

The Astrolocality chart for the Fall Equinox for Washington DC has Moon and Mars lines running through California, All ends of it. And the astrolocality chart for California has Moon-Mars lines running through Washington! So it certainly looks as if there is a Moon-Mars element to California. If you're Bipolar it would be a great time to move here.

There's million ways to interpret. My first one is always negative of course, in terms of the volatility and violence element. Wherever Jerry Brown goes, violence is sure to follow. Probably upsets him a bit because he's worked so hard to seek peace in his life, but the Dude's an Aries so he's got to deal with a really big shadow in that regard I guess.

This is such a strong "birth" chart with Moon and Mars, rulers of babies and infants and heads, that maybe something incredible will start here. Once half of the population has been poisoned by the aging water infrastructure that is. Or murdered by certain somebodies who are demanding their "rights". With Neptune in the 8th House of finance maybe the Mexican Drug cartels will take over the insurance companies. Or maybe Bank of America will go bankrupt.

It looks like fevers, and issues with public health might be a concern, but that might just be me going on about the underground plumbing again.

Every 2 years there's a Mars Max period. This year it starts on Oct. 28, 2011. Mars will be at 24 Leo squaring Mercury-Venus at 24-25 Scorpio. That could suck for the markets. I don't like to see Mercury-Venus conjunctions in October.

Mars 24 Leo will also be opposing Neptune 29 Aquarius.

Nolle's "Mars Max" cycle will last fromOct. 2011-July 2012. You can read about what that means over at his site.

Mars will SRx on January 24, 2012. This is the beginning of its Synodic Cycle which means that probably somebody very smart will be born who will be an early success in life, kind of like Mark Zukerberg. The Synodic Cycle is when Mars RX is opposing the Sun. This one will occur on Mar. 3, 2012 so people with significant parts of their charts at mid-Mutable will be under the influence, so to speak. Venus will be in conjunction with Uranus in Aries.

Mars will Sdirect on April 14.

Mars Rx happens once every two years so it's fairly common.

Saturn moving into Scorpio might make the Hayward Fault angry. I seem to remember that many of the larger earthquakes occur when a major outer planet is at mid-Scorpio so that would be in about 1.5 years. It wouldn't take a big earthquake to totally decimate the place. Saturn and Pluto at this point will be in mutual reception and that's a fairly ugly idea. It can show creative determination to be creative and as long as there is inspiration that's great. Maybe lots of fashion models will be born next year as well, good bones. That's a great combination for becoming anorexic. Watch your knees.

Saturn will enter Scorpio while opposing Jupiter 4 Taurus.

So that looks earthquakey although I don't think that Eclipses are predictably associated with earthquakes. The Sun-Moon and Mars lines for this Eclipse run through Southern California.

Tennis Player Lobs Ball At Crying Baby

Spanish tennis player David Ferrer just made news at a tennis match. While getting ready to 'lob a serve', a baby in the stands was balling his head off.

Aries Sun Ferrer tossed the ball up in the air and slammed it right over at the baby. I don't know where the ball landed, I guess that both Father and Baby are okay.

Of course, not all Aries will do this kind of thing. So, I wanted to look at the astrology to see what special planetary situation would be responsible for sending a guy over the edge. This guy is Spanish after all. They don't think twice about crying babies. It's not like the guy is Protestant German or something.

So, what is the astrology for an extreme reaction while performing one's job at a sporting event no that most of us would ever have to go through this ourselves due to lack of talent, discipline, ambition, and luck?

As I said, Ferrer is a natal Aries. This is heightened by the fact that his natal Sun is opposing the ruler of Aries which is n. Mars Rx placed at 10 Libra. Granted Mars is not happily placed in Libra, That's where the U.S. Mars is stuck in Rx right now which sort of puts a kink in our ability to be industrious.

Currently, Ferrer is approaching his Solar Return so this is all triggered. Mars rules Triggers. Aries is just impatient. And bringing out more firey impatience is t. Jupiter which is conjunct natal Sun almost exactly within a degree.

The Aries stuff goes on and on and I don't think that most people could ever match a set-up like this in our own natal charts. This is an exceptional case, after all. Ferrer's progressed Mars has been in retrograde ever since he was born. Right now, by progression, it has moved back to 2 Libra which is close to the Aries Point. Thatsa an Aries situation. Act, don't think. And so Actions, not Thinking is what came out and has brought this guy some fame, such as it is. And this p.Mars is also triggered heavily by opposition from a big conjunction of transiting Mars 29 Pisces, Lilith-Uranus 1 Aries. Mar and Uranus together make accidents. Put Lilith in on top and things get really weird.

And natal Sun opposes natal Saturn 20 Libra RX. And it's the poor guy's Saturn Return. Saturn rules Fathers, and this guy maybe doesn't have the best instincts for being a Father himself. Saturn brings discipline and concentration, though, and maybe a little problem with intolerance. Saturn is Rx so perhaps he overcompensates for what he didn't receive? Who knows?

We're supposed to be presented by some sort of big decision at our lives with regards to whatever level of maturity we've reached. And, what a drag, to be under the influence of so much flash reasoning that Sun, Mars and Jupiter present.

I can't tell what Ferrer's feelings about the situation might be. His natal Moon is in either Cancer or Leo. I'll leave that part out. Would be sort of funny if he has Cancer Moon and was just competing with the baby.

"Toilet to Tap"

It's a Barnum and Bailey World, that's for sure. Here's a reason not to stop in Orange County to eat when driving through California. These folks are currently drinking their piss. They were bowled over by some engineer who "educated them" on how NASA Astronauts drink their own pee while in space and so they can too. So back in 2007 the County began to filter its sewer water in order to turn it into drinking water. They actually bought the pitch! I read about it in the Water issue of National Geographic.

Even if this were a good idea. Even if infrastructure didn't break down after multiple years of use. Even if employees were fully competent and didn't make any mistakes. This is still just bad design. Orange County is next to the ocean and if there's one thing they'll have plenty of in the future it's going to be Ocean Water. So, a desalination plant would make sense. NASA engineers don't have sea water in space, that's why they didn't develop the technology.

I remember once my brother came in from surfing and said that the French were installing panels out on the cliffs to try to trap the fog and turn it into water. The French are cool. The French are a little annoying but overall they always do nice things for us. They gave us the Statue of Liberty. They want to serve us liquid clouds to drink from off the shores of La Jolla.

This guy down in Orange County is creepy. He even admits that he wants to develop the process so he can sell it to the Arab countries who need it. Orange County is his cage of lab rats. This is just disgusting. I've had Salmonella. I almost died. There was even a story about an astronaut who got Salmonella on a space flight. NASA wouldn't say what was the cause so I was trying to figure out what the cause was through astrology. HaHa! Shit, in every sense of the word.

It's in Virgo sign of Public Health, but it's on the South Node. Isn't Moon on the South Node one of the worst placements?

There's tons of outer planet stuff going on.

Of course, anything goes at the County Water Department during a mutual reception between Uranus and Neptune. Just try taking a shower or washing your clothes in the Silicon Valley.

Jupiter Conjunct Pluto in Sagittarius. Success!!! Irrational Exuberance. The same people who bought 700,000 mortgages off a 15,000 year income are now drinking their neighbor's pee.

Jupiter at 26 degrees (Galactic Center) and Pluto at 29 degrees (Aries Point). Orange County victimized by people halfway across the globe who are so scared of their own shit they only use their left hands for wiping.

The Saturn-Uranus opposition (man made) was just forming. And the Sun was squaring it. Hubris?

The real clinker is Mars. Mars is placed in its fall in the sign of Cancer, Hearth and Home. Mars is Retrograde. Mars is out of bounds. Mars is lead planet in a Locomotive chart. That's some gnarly fire water you're brewing down there, Orange County.

Progressed Mars comes out of retrograde for this chart around the year 2068. Wonder what that means.

School Beatings in Deerfield, Florida

A town in Florida is in the news for continuously bad reasons. Two students who attend its Middle School have been tragically beaten by other students this past year. Most of the kids involved are 15 years old. I don't have any of their birth dates, which is just as well. Besides the fact that the Child Development books I've been looking at say that 15 year olds are just going through a bad phase, I thought I'd take a quick look at the chart of the town to see if anything cropped up to see if anything would indicate why this particular town would be having problems. It seems that there have been other problems here, some guy beat a homeless man to death. The 9/11 bombers stayed here for a night in early September, 2001. What a drag.

Found a couple of interesting things.

Deerfield Beach is currently going through a Uranus Return in Pisces. Natal Uranus is at 26 Pisces. Natal Uranus is trining natal Mars 21 Cancer which indicates there might be some impulse control problems somehow connected with the town. Mars in Cancer can, of course, show trouble at home. Deerfield Beach also has a conjunction of Lilith to Mars which adds to the trouble making situation. This place is probably a mini Peyton place. The incorporation chart also has Venus and Pluto in Cancer, widely spaced apart. With these planets in the sign of the home and family one can expect some problems in these areas and also heightened emotional struggles. The place even attracts suicide bombers. There would be some sort of magnetic draw to these problems that are not explainable.

The current Mars Rx is also keeping Mars within orb of a transiting trine with Uranus right now (off and on). So, this mirrors the Mars-Uranus trine energy shown in the incorporation chart for the city. They might consider checking their electrical infrastructure. Perhaps there are problems in that area. Ungrounded electrical or out of control emf's can cause emotional problems.

Another interesting thing to consider with this city's chart is that it has Sun and Mercury in Gemini. Gemini rules school kids, siblings and neighbors. The natal Mercury is placed very strongly in the incorp. chart because it is in its own sign and is unaspected. With Sun at 20 Gemini, the town was directly in the line of sight for the last big Saturn-Pluto aspect which was the opposition back in 2001-2. Maybe explains the connection with the 9/11 attacks.

Just for the Hell of it I looked up the publication date for the book which all school kids used to have to read in middle school. Guess maybe they don't read it anymore and perhaps ought to. That's Lord of the Flies, by William Golding. Like a lot of books that become successful for authors, the book was published within two days of his Solar Return, on Sept. 17, 1954. (Golding was born Sept. 19, 1911).

The chart for the book has Saturn at 7 Scorpio and a North Node at 12 Capricorn conjunct Mars 12 Capricorn. By coincidence, Deerfield Beach incorporation chart has Saturn at 9 Scorpio Rx squaring the Nodal Axis. This reflects the bullying nature that a difficult Saturn-Pluto aspect can describe. Right now there is a very difficult t-square between these two planets and Uranus.

I saw an interview on Larry King Live about these beatings. The boy who was attacked in October was doused with rubbing alcohol and set on fire by a gang of boys (Jupiter-Chiron-Neptune in Aquarius). He is having a miraculous recovery.

The girl who was beaten last week is still in a coma. The boy who beat her apparently found his brother who had suicided back in October and is obviously in a state of grief. Apparently he was having words back and forth over a cell phone with his victim and she mentioned the death.

Today's Full Moon could really turn into a Fool Moon if you're not careful. There are quite a few difficult aspects right now that are within 1 degree orb of each other.

The Sun and Mars are in opposition at 10 Aquarius-Leo. This is certainly a time when a problem could be coming to a head if you have a planet with close orb connection with those points. Don't bite anyone and don't let anyone bite you.

Because Mars is going through a Retrograde phase this is called a synodic cycle. Mars will once again passing over this spot between Apr. 21-24. At that point it will also be in difficult square aspect to the Sun and Mercury(which will be Retrograde). So there could be need to revise what goes wrong right now.

Today's Moon connects into the Sun-Mars opposition. Full Moons are oppositions of the Sun to the Moon. They are emotional in themselves. They control the parts of the physical body ruling water retention and fevers so perhaps one should remember to drink lots of water today to keep things flowing. Also I think I might pop a couple Vitamin C's to keep inflamation (Mars, Sun) down. The earthquake survivors down in Haiti are at most risk right now for problems related to unsanitary conditions and infection.

This is an even more potent contact because Mars has been lead planet in a Locomotive Chart shape. Right now the Moon is Lead Planet and will pass this on to Mars within about an hour or so when the Full Moon is exact.

The longer term and equally difficult Saturn-Pluto square is also in exact aspect today. Saturn and Pluto working together rule Pollution so one can see how difficult the Inflammatory Full Moon/Mars connection could be. Sure wish there was a planet in Virgo today as that could show a positive influence for sanitation along with desire to work through practical details in order to fix the problems.

The keyword for "square" is "Challenge." So if one embraces the challenge as something to be survived and solved one will have the energy devoted to fixing the problem. Saturn right now is actually in positive sextile-trine aspect to the Full Moon so this is possible.

Space Station Now Hooked Up To Internet

The astronauts now have access to all the porn they want thanks to Scorpio Timothy Creamer who has set up their very first Internet connection. Creamer sent his first Tweet today. Remember when I wrote the post about how the Internet is a Scorpio? Of course you don't. Well it is. Nobody seems to ever give the Scorpios credit. Today, of course, Pluto is conjunct Mercury in Capricorn which adds a Scorpionic flair to all things having to do with Communications (ruled by Mercury). Around the time of the first Tweet I believe Mercury-Pluto would have been in the 3d house of communications.

Astronaut Creamer has a natal conjunction of Mercury-Jupiter in Sagittarius which shows great abilities for expanding the world through communications.

Space Travel is ruled by Uranus, of course, and Neptune, and probably Jupiter as well. Today the Sun is conjunct Venus. Around the time of the first Tweet this duo was passing over the IC. That's the IC of the Cape Canaveral Chart. I have no idea how to set up a chart for Space Station time. That makes sense since the Sun disposits to Uranus and Uranus, planet of all things unpredictable and futuristic, is hanging out in Pisces and is unaspected.

Creamer's chart is pretty great to look at. He's born in 1959 and has a natal Saturn-Pluto trine. With Saturn at 5 Capricorn and squaring his Nodal Axis (2 Libra NN - 2 Aries SN) this could be considered a difficult time for Creamer because there is currently a Saturn-Pluto square transiting over this difficult natal aspect. But, hey, Pluto likes a Challenge and nothing offers a better challenge than a good square aspect. Right?

Mars in the chart of the first Tweet is Retrograde in Leo at 13 Leo. Mars is possibly conjunct the Midheaven at the time of the first Tweet. It is retrograde, and most elevated planet in the chart. This is conjunct Kreamer's natal Uranus (Outer Space, Baby) which squares his natal Sun-Mars conjunction. Noel Tyl says that Mars-Uranus combinations represent working in Technology. That certainly seems to be true. This is too much info, but it's interesting that the end of Libra/Scorpio is possibly rising over Earth's Ascendant in the Event Chart. This means that Kreamer's Sun-Mars is passing through H1. His Uranus is right up there with Mars of the Natal Chart.

Mars Stations Direct on March 9,10,11. It will be interesting to see if anything weird happens to the Internet Connection on that date. There might be a big Internet hi-jacking around that date because the Saturn-Uranus-Pluto t-square will be within orb at that point.

It's no doubt premature to look at the chart of the Suicide Bomber who killed the CIA agents over in Afghanistan. Wikipedia is just now providing the information and sometimes these things change and the birth chart given is just too amazing.

If it doesn't already use astrologers, the CIA should perhaps pay attention to astrological charts right now because it certainly looks as if the terrorists are using them in order to figure out "who's next" of their own crowd. If you want to make sure that you are successful at killing people, it sure does help to have a strong Sun-Pluto transit going on (among other transits).

Humam Khalil Abu-Mulal al-Balawi is the second terrorist with Sun in early Capricorn Sun who is attempting to attack the United States. The man who tried to blow up the Northeast Airlines plane on Dec. 25 was the other one.

Right now this point is under a lot of stress as there is not only Pluto right on the spot, but a huge Outer Planet t-square of planets that really like to play havoc with society when they are working together. Pluto represents Power and Death and Extreme Obsessions and right now the Sun (Power also) has been passing over it. This Summer will probably be the most intense expression of this t-square and the Sun opposes Pluto and the t-square becomes its most exact.

Further emphasizing the tension on these spots of the wheel, there are 3 Eclipse sets starting last Summer and continuing to next Summer that are aspecting the Cancer/Capricorn Axis.

Have to admit that my reason for trying to look up al-Balawi's today was because of an article I just read saying that his wife is proud of what he did. I wanted to look at his chart to see what kind of "Bitch" aspects he had. Who was wearing the pants in that household? Who would gladly turn her husband from a Medical Doctor/Healer to a murderer. I know that people say that women would never create evil in the world because we're all lovey dovey, but, man, that is just such a lie.

Sun 4 Capricorn; NN 11 Libra; Moon Gemini or Cancer

The main parts of al-Balawi's chart show total emphasis on early degrees Cardinal, which are the affected points. Pluto is currently passing over his Sun. Saturn is currently approaching his natal North Node-Pluto conjunction. His Moon may be in Cancer.

What's really bizarre is that al-Balawi was born with both Mercury and Mars Retrograde. Both of these planets are moving in Retrograde together in the current sky and Mars is actually in the same sign of Leo at both point (Mars Return in Retrograde - that's pretty rare).

Natal Mars is squaring rebellious Uranus in Scorpio which shows a person who likes excitement.

Al-Balawi also had Sun opposing Jupiter at 1 Cancer-Lilith 28 Gemini-Moon either Gemini or Cancer (2 Cancer at noon). Sun opposing Jupiter shows the Religious extremism side of this man, and as oppositions tend to show relationships we get into (Opposites) it can show the partner as well.

Jupiter is probably conjunct the Moon (women) and even perhaps disposits to the Moon. It also is in conjunction to good old Lilith which represents the wild side of women. In addition, on the other side of the opposition, the Sun is in conjunction with Venus in Sagittarius (which disposits back to Jupiter, and also references a woman who might like to see her husband commit Jihad. Al-Balawi's wife is represented by Jupiter-Sagittarius themes. These can be religious extremism, opinions, strong beliefs systems, especially in difficult aspect to the natal chart as it is. Jupiter is emphasized in al-Balawi's chart as it is a lead planet to a bowl shape (which further shows a man who might defer too much power to his wife's needs).

Al-Balawi was just past his Saturn Return in Virgo (Rx in natal). Saturn in Virgo is pretty insecure and the Rx doesn't help with that. In this chart there is a Grand Earth Trine between Saturn and Chiron and Sun-Venus. That shows the interest in becoming a Doctor. I suspect that Grand Trines are very common in the charts of Double Agents. Problems have a tendency to just slip under the cracks for these people. Saturn in Virgo can indicate a martyr as Virgo/Pisces is related to such subjects. People, i.e. the CIA, will also trust Virgo. It's an earth sign that seems to show no ambitions or motivations. They can always sound like they are talking so straight from the hip.

The progressions seem to reinforce some of the problems in al-Balawi's chart. Because his natal Jupiter at 1 Cancer and is Retrograde, it has been in long-term progression with natal Lilith his whole life. Jupiter expands whatever it touches. This is a long-term stress aspect of always looking for balance in others and finding really wigged out situations.

This energy would be reinforced by the Natal North Node in Libra which is conjunct Pluto in Libra.

And also, progressed Sun has always stayed in conjunction with progressed Venus as well and the two are conjunct to the degree right now at 6 Aquarius. That's another influence which shows great charms, vanity, and also a lot of female influence in the life. I've mentioned before how I feel that Sun-Venus conjunctions in progressions can indicate suicidal tendencies --- this is an extreme example. The Suicide bomber may have begun to develop more rebellious needs to fight on behalf of humanity about 5 years ago as p.Sun-Venus changed signs into Aquarius. Natal Mars is at 11 Leo just opposing that spot and in Rx his whole life so far, so would have been opposite Sun-Venus (and squaring natal Uranus).

This guy had that shy, reserved Capricorn Sun trine Saturn in Virgo with all this need for excitement and religious experience bubbling underneath. And the Pluto on the North Node which needs to create change.

The Wikipedia article mentioned that al-Balawi's family had had to leave his native Kuwait in 1990 during the Iraq invasion. I wanted to quickly see if there were some kind of leftover trauma which occurred at that time which al-Balawi perhaps couldn't have recovered from easily. The indicators are there.

I tend to think that Uranus and Pluto transits, etc. will show when traumatic events will happen. Doesn't hurt if Mars and Saturn are playing along.

In 1990, Uranus was passing over al-Balawi's natal Sun-Venus. Also Pluto was passing over his natal Uranus.

Another big aspect was that at this time al-Zawahiri was going through his Jupiter Return. A trauma at this time in his life could have magnified this one planet in his chart. (This is what my whole research project is about right now but that's another story)

I've discussed what a prominent influence Jupiter was in al-Balawi's chart. As Jupiter is located on 1 Cancer which is related to strong attachment to and need to care for home, heritage, and homeland I think this is the most prominent factor. Cancer rules feelings and attachments that one can't let go of easily. His loyalities would have become very important to him, as well as a strong devotion and need to care for others. Imagine how difficult it would be to have to process this Jupiter. During the first Jupiter Return, when this man was around 11-12 years old, his family (Cancer) has to evacuate their country (Cancer) due to War. Jupiter in this chart is lead planet of a bowl shape. What this means is that at the time it is opposing the Sun-Venus-Mercury at the same time. Then over the next 6 or so years Jupiter hits all the other planets in the chart and hits that other side of the bowl. That's a lot of intense stimulation and growth with nothing on the other side to balance the energy (no planet opposing from the other side). Then for the next 6 years Jupiter would pass through the empty side of the bowl, opposing all the natal planets (except for Chiron, wonder if that's when he decided to become a doctor). This is a problem of the bowl shaped chart for anyone. There's always a sense of everything being lopsided, especially since the cycle began with the type of trauma which is devastating for most people. With Jupiter, it would be too much of one thing, then too much of the other. Plus, Jupiter is related to Religion.

Well, that doesn't make sense. Sorry for the ramble.

CIA Suicide Bombing in Afghanistan

I'm having a terrible time trying to track down much information about the people involved in the Dec. 30, 2009 suicide bombing that occurred at the CIA Base Chapman in Khost, Afghanistan. I read somewhere that this camp is involved with sending drones out into the community but haven't seen that story since. Would be good to know because of the Saturn-Uranus-Pluto t-square influence kind of symbolizing robots, to me personally at least. Somehow I think I wouldn't appreciate having them driving around in my neighborhood.

At this point I believe that 7 CIA agents were killed along with others who were injured.

A double agent for al-Qaida walked into the Camp without being searched. He was wearing explosives. This is the second story in a week. The terrorists are finding trustworthy, innocent looking people to work through.

The information that al-Balawi is said to have offered was supposedly so important that many of the major information gatherers in the land were gathered together in the room to hear it. I've even just read a report saying that this guy was a triple agent. He was Jordanian doctor Humam Khalil Abu-Mulal al-Balawi. In most reports he is 36 years old. Since he was at least polite enough to commit his crime at the end of the year this means that we can be sure (if he was indeed 36) that he was born in 1973.

Al-Balawi is said to be from an industrial town called Zarqa in Jordan. Zarqa means "The Blue One." The place could definitely use a beautification project, maybe a couple of extra fountains and some palm trees, and a high speed rail system. It's the same town where Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is said to have been from. 1st settlement was in 1902 by Chechen immgrants. Over half of the town is a Jordanian settlement left over from the Six Days War.

So, I can't get any birth dates. The CIA has let us know that the Camp Head died in the attack and that she was a Mother of three. That means that the CIA is letting us know that women are incompetent at this kind of work. Thanks, guys. Hey, why don't you do something constructive and give us some birth dates. Al-Qaeda probably uses Astrologers and it seems like they're winning this war at this point.

Twiddling my thumbs and googling wikipedia all I could really find is that the CIA is going through a double whammy Mars transit. Like all things Leo, this is hitting the heart (of the agency). The media is going on and on about how struck they are, but they still aren't giving birth dates.

The CIA's got the weirdest damn natal chart for a spy agency for reasons that I'm not going to say because I'm not giving the Jihad chat rooms the benefit. But, anyway, the CIA has a conjunction of Saturn to Pluto in Leo. Right now this conjunction is being hit by both progressed Mars at 26 Leo and transiting Mars Retrograde which was at 19 Leo. I think that Hillary Clinton has this conjunction natally and I seem to have remembered that someone tried to attack her this week, but am not sure.

Mars has been opposing the Chiron-Jupiter-Neptune conjunction in Aquarius in an extra long transit due to the retrograde. I suppose that explains how it's great weather for terrorists who want to commit jihad. Either that, or those agents were scoring Opium.

The Mars transit was amplified by the transits on the day of the attack, sort of a triple whammy (easy to say after the fact). Transiting North Node was at 22 Capricorn (conjunct Mercury) and opposing the CIA's natal Mars 22 Cancer.

Young Actress Brittany Murphy Passes Away

Hope this isn't disrespectful, or basically just too premature an interpretation, but 32 year old Brittany Murphy apparently had a heart attack this morning and died. I always found her to be a bit more striking than most of the young actresses. That makes sense, of course, because Brittany was a magnetic double Scorpio with Pluto conjunct natal North Node at 14-16 degrees Libra. I don't have a birth time for her so don't have the complete horoscope.

You sort of expect anyone with Scorpio and Scorpio's ruler, Pluto, prominent in their charts to have more crises going on in their lives than the average person. Pluto rules Sex, Death and Taxes, and most ideas that are difficult to articulate....

The Wikipedia entry about Murphy show a typical super stressful Plutonian lifestyle. Her parents divorced when she was 2 years old. Her Father is a convicted "mobster." Her Mother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer when Murphy was 15 years. Murphy got her first acting job when she was 14 and needless to say realized a very successful career in singing and acting from an early age. She was probably a very focused, determined person with a strong drive.

Because of my studies with Planetary Return Cycles I was immediately attracted to the fact that Murphy was 2 years old when her parents divorced. According to my studies this hooks her into Mars energy throughout her life. That describes boldness, youthfulness, being first, impulsiveness, creativity, and all other Mars characteristics. I'm finding for now that these kids often blame themselves for their parents' divorce.

So I thought I would check out just Mars in Murphy's chart to see if it could bring any sense as to why she would die young and unexpectantly. Murphy's natal Mars is heavily afflicted in her natal chart. It is apex of a t-square to an opposition of Venus 1 Scorpio to Chiron 3 Taurus. It is also squaring her natal Uranus Scorpio and possibly her Moon. These three planets working together rule unexpected events. Murphy died of a heart attack and her natal Mars is Leo which is the sign that rules the heart.

I don't know what her Rising Sign was so I can only wonder if any of these planets are ruling her Ascendant which describes her physical body. This could further explain her death, as well as her 4th, 8th and 12th house rulers.

The Mars problems continue in Murphy's chart. They seem to have been piling up on each other through the progressed chart and solar return charts.

She had just celebrated both a Solar Return in and was in the middle of an abnormally long Mars Return. And Mars is going through a very long transit through the sign of Leo just now. It just stationed Retrograde so was promising a long stressful square to her natal Scorpio planets.

Transiting Mars is also mirroring her Progressed Mars which has just stationed direct in Leo as well at 12 degrees. That means that both transiting and progressed Mars are stationing on or close to her natal Mars. And this, according to me and my work with cycles, would be a soft spot for self awareness due to the early trauma at age 2 (1st Mars Return).

The transits just keep piling up here. Today the Moon was opposing Brittany's natal, transiting, progressed Marses and moving into conjunction with transiting Chiron (woundings). These are in close sextile/trine with her natal Pluto/North Node (Fate-Destiny) in Libra.

Her most recent Solar Return (Nov. 10) and Lunar Return charts (Dec. 12) also show Mars in stress aspects as it is opposing Jupiter and squared by Moon (both transiting). There are many more indicators going on in this chart. I sort of wonder if malnutrition due to Anorexia is not involved. Jupiter in Cancer Rx is lead planet of a bowl shape chart. Sagittarius and Cancer combo's can often underlie Anorexia when combined with a chart that otherwise shows a lot of self control and reserve. All those Scorpio planets would show a controlled temperament which would express through self-denial, as well as a compulsive personality of some sort.

I send my condolences to Murphy's family and friends.

Stage Dads - Mr. Jackson, Mr. Mozart, Mr. Beethoven

Since Michael Jackson's death, his Father, Joe, has increasingly become the butt of reporter's jokes so I'm starting to become curiouser and curioser to look at his chart. Years ago Jackson publicly denounced his Father and admitted that he had been beaten and abused as a child. Joe was written out of Michael Jackson's will and it turns out he has been separated from Jackson's Mom for a long time. He is granted interviews just so that people can confirm before their very eyes that he was as abusive as Michael said he was. Well, he's got natal Mercury in Leo which has just gone Retrograde by Progression so that's not going to be hard to do. It's to the point where I'm feeling a little sorry for the guy. His son never would have made it to icon status without his Father pushing him the way he did. (Yes, I'm aware that it's probably not worth it, but then again I'm not a big follower of pop musicians).

As "Classical Music Major" I'm aware of Stage Moms and Dads. At one of my recitals an old dinosaur walked in wearing ruffles and really bright red lipstick and her eyes were way too sparkly and my Virgo Older Brother shuddered under his breath "Now that's definitely someone's Mom." I used to play harp and when you play harp you get to see the best of the visionary parents in full regalia.

I know through music history class that Beethoven's Father was highly abusive and pulled his son out of bed in the middle of the night to practice. And Mozart's Father pushed his son way beyond what the current labor laws would allow and Mozart grew up to be a little squirley because of it. So I went overboard with this project and began to look at all three, or all six charts. (I hope that I've got all the information straight but can't promise anything as I can't work the store feature right now on my Astrology program.)

All three of these Dads produced child prodigies and all three would perhaps be considered child abusers for having done that in modern times at any rate. I suppose the big story regarding Stage Moms and daughters comes from the life of stripper Gypsy Rose Lee. That's good for another study.

Just happened to find an interesting coincidence in that both Beethoven and Mozart's Fathers shared the same birth date, November 14. That sort of explains a little right there. Scorpio works with other people's resources. It is also an extremely ambitious sign and very focused and also capable of extreme behaviors. Scorpio is also a selfish sign and can also suffer from resenting the success of those it nurtures and of wanting to undermine their success through underhanded jealousies.

First, Michael's Dad. What's going on with him? Joe Jackson is not a Scorpio, he's a Leo, but Pluto is conjunct his natal Mercury and the two are unaspected to other planets so they create a strong presence in the chart. I could see how this could lead to very cutting verbal abuse.

As a Leo Joe would have the natural instinct to show off and be flamboyant and unencumbered by self consciousness. He may not have understood that he wasn't the one who was up on stage when his sons were practicing and performing.

With Mars in Virgo he would have a highly critical and perfectionist personality. Mars is one of the indicators in a person's chart showing his children, especially his Sons. Joe's Starchild Michael was born a Virgo.

Michael was born on August 29, 1958 with the Sun at 6 Virgo conjunct Pluto at 3 Virgo. Father Joe Jackson's progressed Sun and Neptune were both in conjunction with t. Pluto so these two were stuck in what Noel Tyl calls an "Ego Wipeout" bond forever. This is a good example of the great positive and negative extremes of how Sun-Neptune-Pluto type of synastry plays out between parent and child, that's for sure.

In addition to that, Joe Jackson was going through both a Mars Return (Son) and his first Saturn Return (Father).

And, another interesting detail to note that comes up with both Beethoven and Mozart's Father's charts and relationships is the combination of Mars with Chiron. Chiron is the great teacher/healer who could pass on all kinds of incredible information but couldn't use it to fix his own wounds. In combination with Mars, Chiron possibly shows a connection of some sort with one's Son. Joe Jackson has these very widely in conjunction with each other in Taurus (sign that rules the voice and arts, interesting that it also rules the Number 5 - Jackson 5 - through Venus' Sun conjunction cycle). Both Beethoven's father had a natal square and Mozart's Father had a natal conjunction, both aspects in connection with strong points in their sons' charts.

I discussed in a blog long ago the interesting coincidence of Father-Sun progressed Sun to natal Sun in the signs of men in the President Bush family a long time ago. It certainly seems that there is some kind of power connection when this happens in a family. As I said, Joe Jackson's p.Sun was within 4 degrees of conjunction with his Son's natal Sun. Ludwig Beethoven was born when his Father was 30 years old and in the next Sun Sign over so he has this relationship with his Father as well: Father Johann's p. Sun was at 27 Sagittarius, 2 degrees past his Son's natal Sun.

Both Mozart and Beethoven Senior had very long conjunctions of personal planets to their natal Saturns which may be of significance in understanding the karmic gifts which they passed on to their children. Due to the retrograde in the progressions, both men would have been experiencing this unchanging stressor on their Saturns. This could explain their own frustrated ambitions, along with their extreme behaviors as Fathers.

As a matter of fact, this p.Sun to n.Natal synastry will happen between the charts of any Father and Son when the Father's natal Sun is roughly 30 degrees before the Son's natal Sun. There is a double whammy effect because the child will born during the Father's Saturn Return which happens roughly at one's 29th year. It does seem to be a strong formula for insuring that success and ambition are passed down from generation to generation. That would require a lot more study to confirm. And it certainly doesn't look like a happy inheritance to be gifted. I'm discussing more connections with Saturn down below. These men have Saturn very strongly aspected in relation with their sons, that's for sure.

Both Fathers (Mozart's and Beethoven's) had progressed Venus in Scorpio when their sons were born. P. Venus conjunct natal Saturn in one chart and conjunct natal Pluto in the other chart. I suppose this shows great ambitions through the arts and no doubt an ability to "psychically channel" huge amounts of cosmic knowledge.

He was 30 years old when Beethoven was born. Going through Saturn Return when his Son was born. And his Progressed Sun was conjunct his Son's natal Sun (and widely his Moon). This point was opposing natal Mars and squaring natal Chiron.

Something interesting that I've noticed in Father B. and Mozarts' Dad's charts as well is an interesting conjunction to natal Saturn from progressed Planets. Father B's Mars is conjunct his natal Saturn in his natal chart in the sign of Leo. Both planets had gone Retrograde by Progression so that they were still in conjunction when Beethoven was born (and Rx, difficult). His progressed Venus, meanwhile, was conjunct to the degree with his Pluto. He was to have a very intense relationship with this child regarding ambitions, will and the arts.

Father Leopold Mozart has a similar thing going on. Natally he has a conjunction of Venus to Saturn-Mercury-Sun in Scorpio (same spot as p.Venus-Pluto in Beethoven's Dad's chart, remember what I said about Scorpio). Venus in Leopold's chart is Retrograde when he is born. And so his progressed Venus has come out of Rx by the time his son is born and has returned to close to the same spot where it was when he was born.

These retrogrades make it look as if the Father's were reliving parts of themselves through their Sons. Both Saturn and Pluto/Scorpio are related to Karmic lessons and reliving problems. They are both very ambitious planets. In a sense, through their sons, these men were using twice the lifetime's worth of knowledge to get their sons to succeed in the world. (Sorry, that probably doesn't make sense).

Thich Nhat Hanh has a Birthday

Relief! One of the two Birth Dates that I've always wanted to know but couldn't find were that of Vietnamese Buddhist Monk Thich Nhat Hanh and Permaculture's Bill Mollison. Still don't have Mollison's birth date but Astrotheme is now providing a date for Thich Nhat Hanh. When asked about the circumstances of Hanh's birth the only information I could ever find was a comment he said about his birthplace. In the West people of my generation only know Vietnam as either Northern or Southern. Hanh said that he was born in Central Vietnam. He may have been speaking literally, but I remember at the time commenting that he must be a Libra ... and ....

Hanh was a major spokesman in the West about the Vietnam War. He proceeded to help his countrymen as only a Monk, and a Libra, can do. One can see the mark of having to live "In Interesting Times" in Hanh's chart in his natal Sun square to Cancer North-Pluto conjunction. A Cancer North Node would indicate a destiny linked to "Homeland." Pluto tends to bring Crises and also hopefully Determination to overcome Crises. The Diplomatic and Peace Loving Libra Sun is strongly engaged with these two through a square aspect. Hanh's Libra character is further emphasized by wide conjunction to Venus in Libra which she rules.

I am sort of finding (and would like to hear back from anyone else who happens to notice this or knows where I can research more about it) that people with Sun-Venus conjunctions tend to do very significant things during the times that they have their first Sun-Venus returns at Ages 8 and 16 which continue to influence the rest of their lives. Hanh became a Monk when he was 16. I suppose that's not an odd age for becoming a Monk but this is such an apppriate occupation for a Sun-Venus in Libra square Nodes person to do which might account for his extra talents.

Hanh has only recently been allowed to return to Vietnam in 2005. Transiting Saturn was in Cancer at that point passing over his natal NN-Pluto. This was squared by transiting NN in Aries. The Nodal Axis was squaring his natal Nodal Axis that year and was in conjunction/opposition with natal Sun-Venus.

Mars in Hanh's chart is in the other sign that's ruled by Venus at 19 Taurus. It was Retrograde when he was born. It changed out of Rx during 1983-4. Would be interesting to see if significant changes occurred for him at this point.

I suspect with his great talents to communicate with people from all cultures that Hanh has a Sagittarius Moon but have certainly been surprised to find that I'm wrong about Moon signs before. Currently he is going through both a Jupiter in Aquarius Return and a Uranus in Pisces Return. The Outer Planets in his chart are in strong aspect with each other which I think would show great humanitarianism as well as organizational ability and depth of soul. Jupiter 18 Aquarius is opposing Neptune in Leo. This is a very uplifting combination but is tied into useful purposes in a wide t-square with Saturn 24 Scorpio as apex. This Saturn is trining Uranus in Pisces at one side and Pluto in Cancer at the other side (Uranus and Pluto are too far out of orb to be a trine). It is also opposing Mars Rx. Mars-Saturn aspects always seems to show up in charts these days in people who feel instinctively that they must psychically deal with breaking through Walls in their lives.

If you've ever listened to Hanh you know that he has a very calm serene voice and speaks with great clarity. This, of course, is something which I attribute to the Libra influence and was interested to find that his Mercury is at 2 Scorpio in aspect to Neptune (sextile) and Uranus (Quintile thingee).
