Who Loves the Future, Baby? California Agriculture

February 2 wasn't just Ground Hog's Day. In California it was "Wonderful World of Agriculture Day." On February 2, Governor Jerry Brown appointed an Organic Farmer to head, get this, the Department of Pesticide Regulation.

Brian Leahy was previously the Assistant Director of the California Department of Conservation. From 2000-2004 he was Executive Director of the California Certified Organic Farmers. Now he is Head of the Department of Pesticide Regulation. Brian Leahy is an organic farmer! And he can do politics!

Neptune has just moved into its own sign of Pisces and is just a few degrees away from having an exact Neptune Return in the natal chart for California. California's Sun is in Virgo (Sept. 9, 1850) and that opposes the sign of Pisces (not an opposition, though, because degrees are too far apart). If you're a control freak a Sun-Neptune opposition can be the transit from hell. Neptune just sort of makes sure you don't know what is going on for a few years. Then you wake up and look back and say, What the Hell just happened?

So, I thought we were all just going to have to succumb to the situations which are looking pretty dire. But, there you go. Wonders never cease (especially when you've got good leadership).

Neptune also rules hypersensitivity. The Neptunians will be the first to feel the poisons. They will also be more concerned for the welfare of others. And Neptune knows how to get what it wants, but through mellow means... and that does sound like California style.

I think that the Uranus-Pluto square is also an extremely strong influence here. Both of these planets create change, usually catastrophic change. Scary change that requires heroic adaptation. Pluto works from the underground and Uranus works from the Lightening Flash. They pull and zap at the same time and our knees get a little creaky. We can't really see them coming the way we can see Saturn crap coming. We don't necessarily feel like their experiences made us stronger.

Together Uranus and Pluto can be a PTSD diagnosis 20 years down the road. But, in this case, not only are we about to go through a Neptune Return, but we are going through a Ceres Return and Ceres has been in conjunction with Uranus! (It was a close one degree orb on February 2.) Ceres rules Farming! Ceres wants to make things grow. Ceres is a Goddess and she likes getting help from Uranus and Pluto when the tomatoes begin to taste like acid and the cantaloupe tastes like wax. On February 2, Ceres was at 5 Aries in conjunction with Uranus at 1 Aries. They were squared by Pluto at (oops didn't write it down) ___ Capricorn. Oh, wherever Pluto was.

Governor Brown is an Aries. Capricorn is Governance. Uranus shocks the shit out of everyone. Wonder what Leahy's sign is, of course, but couldn't find it. When we're relaxed we can see that Uranus represents Hopes and Wishes and the Future. And this so makes me love the future.

Virgo and Cancer also rule farming. Cancer, ruler of environment and home, has been at the empty leg of that long Cardinal Sign t-square totally needing to be represented.

Mars was at 21 Virgo was facing this extra long transit through that sign. It hadn't started moving Retrograde yet. So all things that Virgo rules, like jobs, service, public health, health habits, diet, hygiene, etc. will receive the benefits of extra attention.

Virgo's ruler, Mercury, was at 23 Sagittarius in a wide conjunction with The North Node at 15 Sagittarius. The Moon at Noon on February 2 was in Gemini. We got a new way of thinking (Gemini). We're getting new rules to play by (Sagittarius).

Everybody's favorite groundhog, Punxsatawney Phil, saw his shadow this morning so that means we can expect 6 more weeks of Winter. Good. That'll keep everyone indoors until the Mars retrograde is over. I don't know how Phil could see his shadow because supposedly it was cloudy and he had no shadow. Thought I'd look at the chart to see if I could divine what the hell he was actually looking at.

Well, with the Sun conjunct the Ascendant Phil was certainly in the limelight. Actually, that would mean that the photography lights and the flashes from the cameras were probably in his little eyes. With Neptune c. Chiron in Pisces, however, we can expect that not only was he spooked by all the attention, his prediction will be spot on accurate. Pisces very psychic. Aquarius not bad either.

Mars in Virgo rules household pets. It was in the 7th House so maybe Phil is actually indicated in the chart by the 7th House. I get this stuff all mixed up. Mars opposing Venus in Pisces so some lady's Estee Lauder probably setting off his allergies.

I just thought of something. Punxsatawney, Pennsylvania is where Phil lives in his hole. But, I was wondering if Phil got his first name from Philadelphia. Get it? Phil? Philadelphia? Are the two towns close together? Do I really have to Google it and then suffer trying to make another link?

Flying Squirrels In the Emergency Room

Now this is what I call an out of body experience.

Flying squirrels keep showing up in an emergency trauma room in a New Jersey hospital.

At least, a second one showed up last night which is the second time in two weeks.

Trauma and emergencies are Marsian. Hospitals are Neptunian. Weirdness is Lunar and Uranian.

Well, there's been an opposition of Mars in Virgo to Neptune in Aquarius so those two are working together these days. Neptune is in conjunction with Chiron in Pisces, so it looks like the idea of wounds that don't heal are messing with the Dr's. heads.

Don't know what time the first squirrel began to swoop the patients, but the one last night showed up at 10:00 pm. The opposition is past close orb but is apparently still in effect. At 10:00 pm Mars in Virgo was in the first house. The Moon in Aquarius was in conjunction with the Descendant and Neptune and Chiron. The Moon is ruler of the 12th House of Hospitals. There's no doubt that this is a psychic intervention from someone who died in there.

Mars (H1) is squaring the Sun-NN conjunction in Sagittarius which is in the 4th House (end of life, environment). The Sun rules the chart here, as does the vibe in the room. Sagittarius likes to fly, that's for sure. It also rules Laws.

You can't file a malpractice lawsuit after you're dead, so I guess this is the next best solution for bad treatment received. With Neptune moving into its own sign and in conjunction with Chiron there might be more to come on this subject.

Well, and Uranus 1 Aries is unaspected in the 8th House of Death, Sex, Taxes and other forms of Vengeance. Those squirrels don't fark around. Did Snookie comb out her rat's nest? Give these poor things a new place to land.

Make Way For Turtles

They say it happens every year around this time. The Turtles show up to hatch their eggs on the beach that's right next to Kennedy Airport in New York. That's what they did this morning. In order to get there they had to cross a runway at JFK. About 150 turtles waddled across this morning and Air Traffic Control stopped all incoming and outgoing on the runway in order to let the turtles cross.

Kind of a cool juxtaposition of the Man's fastest machine stopping all its motors to make way for Nature's slowest creature. And, actually, those turtles aren't so slow.

How long does it take for one hundred and fifty turtles to cross a runway together? About 15 minutes. Squares do bring their challenges. They're pretty organized folks.

The article doesn't give the time other than to say that the mass migration took place this morning.

Neptune 1 Pisces was crossing the ASC just after 10:00 am.

The Empty Leg of the T-Square: Cancer

Environmental Working Group says that the single most important piece of legislation that will be battled over in the next 18 months is "The Food Bill." This has to do with how screwed up farming is at this point.

Saturn in Libra opposing Uranus in Aries and squaring Pluto in Capricorn can focus an incredible amount of energy toward the common goal that the empty leg of this t-square presents. That's anything connected with the sign of Cancer.

So, first of all, go call your Mom. She loves you. She drives you nuts. She's nuts. She's needy. But, when they're gone, they're really really gone. And Cancer has the longest, saddest memory in the whole wide world. Think of it as Emotion Insurance for the future. And tell her you only have 15 minutes.

Then there's more. I wonder if everything Cancerian is a little screwed up right now. In terms of Internet, I think we have too much memory. Maybe not, but just think about it. Bob Marks says the way to handle a Saturn-Pluto transit is to throw things out. And he's right. So, don't throw your Mother out. Put limits on the call. You can do it. It's called management. Remember? Saturn needs limits. Your Father also needs a call. I'm talking to folks who grew up in Divorce because we're a completely ignored crowd of folks and we have Mom and Dad and not necessarily in that order and definitely not living in connection with each other and certainly not in harmony.

Cancer equals Home, Land, Real Estate, Food, Taking Care of What We have, Loving it unconditionally (the Pluto in Virgo generation can only do that to its household pets, by the way).

Cancer also represents The Public. The Common Man. Time to dig out some old Courbets and Millets and read Zola. The French in the 19th Century were really in to this. Now they are struggling with the immigrants. That's what happens when you've figured everything out. The neighbors show up and want a cut. And they don't feel obligated to be nice because they want to be themselves and they are: The Common Man.

Anyway, be the Public and sign the petition as The Common Man yourself. Actually the immigrants resent anyone taking over that role so Good Luck with that.

What else does Cancer represent? Oh yeah, silliness and the crazies. Giggle. Go whacko. Spill your milk out your nostrils, that looks funny in old people too. Don't tell everyone you're too sophisticated for Jerry Lewis movies, for Christ's Sakes, he's a God send for this type of transit.

Oh yeah, and little babies. Googie googie goo. I don't know what you do for little babies right now. Have you noticed these Pluto in Capricorns? They are born looking really really smart and competent. They look good wearing grey and black. They also look a little dehydrated. They're not noisy like the P in Sagittarians.

Anyway, sign the EWG's petition, send them some money. Non organic food at this point has only slightly more nutritional value than McDonald's.

By the time they sign the bill I guess that Saturn will be in Scorpio. With Pluto in Capricorn? I wonder if any babies will be born during those years at all? Maybe only Corporate Exec's.

Fruit With Highest Pesticide Levels

The Environmental Working Group regularly publishes lists of the most toxic and least toxic fruits and vegetables that are offered for consumption according to how much pesticide residue they contain.

Well, it's good that California doesn't have many Nuclear Power Plants because we've got agriculture and all the pesticides which are used to keep the bugs and fungii off. Good place to get a Pluto/Neptune fix on a regular basis I guess. Kind of interesting to consider who it is we trust to apply this stuff but I won't go into that. Here's the list from Worst to 15th least worst.

The fruits/vegetables with the least amount of pesticides are listed in the article as well. Keyword for health here is "Thick Skin." Pluto is in Capricorn, after all.

Got a little curious to see what kinds of nutrition we'll miss out on if we avoid these fruits. I guess one could always just buy organic but I truly don't know if they are real honest about that stuff. Used to live around Apple field which were supposedly organic and helicopters came in twice a year and dumbed unbelievable amounts of poison all over the place.

Apples are best for fighting asthma and diabetes. The vitamins are kept right under the skin, right on the other side of where the pesticides are. I got that little bit of info from an interesting article at:

Looks like the fruits that are good for fighting inflammation are no longer very good for that purpose if they're full of pesticides. Strawberries? Forget about it.

Nuclear Radiation

This is another one of my hair-brained connections, but while browsing through the current Newsweek article about the Nuclear Power planet disaster in Japan (Mar. 28/Apr. 4 issue) I noticed that the "shelf life" for 2 out of the 3 different types of radiation correspond to a Saturn Return. That is, they last for 29 years.

Strontium 90 can be inhaled or ingested through contaminated food or water. It is similar to calcium by chemical make-up so goes straight for the bones. Bones are ruled by Saturn! Exposure increases the risk of bone cancer and leukemia.

Cesium 137 is the dealiest radiation. It sticks to dust, can be inhaled or ingested, can even be picked up while walking on soil, (and lasts for 29 years!) Its gamma radiation penetrates into the body causing cancer everywhere.

The least toxic Radiation is from Iodine 129 & 131. This has a shelf life of only 8 days. It settles into the grass, is ingested by cows and ends up in concentrated form in milk. It goes into the thyroid gland and causes thyroid cancer. I forgot to look up thyroid gland, that's in the neck, isn't it? That would be Venus/Taurus rulership maybe. There's a Sun/Venus cycle which takes 8 years.

Would it be possible to try to "guess" who would be most affected by these different types of radiation by looking at placement of Saturn in their charts? Are people who are going through a difficult Saturn transit right now more vulnerable? I wouldn't have thought to look at Saturn for radiation poisoning so I'm only placing a guess right now.

Hydrogen, ruled by Neptune according to Bills, was the first thing that the nuclear reactors began to leak right after the tsunami (also ruled by Neptune).

Navy kills Dolphins

The U.S. Navy slaughtered at least 3 bottle nosed dolphins during military exercises off the coast of San Diego. Two other dolphins have since been found dead. Dolphins are considered the equals of man in intelligence.

The Navy is ruled by Neptune and the Moon. Sea Animals are as well. Jail is also ruled by Neptune-Pisces, but escape artists are as well. I suppose that's why the Navy thinks that it holds no responsibility for these murders.

Whales Migrating!!!

Great article to read just after a New Moon in Pisces (in conjunction with Mars). The Whales are migrating from Mexico to Alaska.

The "Aflockalypse": Solstice,Eclipse, Mars, Pluto and the North Node

Since New Year's Eve flocks of birds have been dying all across the globe. Scientists say it's a natural occurrence. Conspiracy theorists sound more convincing than ever about what kinds of dark plots are behind the die offs. The Government is saying nothing.

The first set of birds to die off was a flock of about 3,000 red winged black birds in Beebe, Arkansas. They were found lying all over the ground just a day before thousands of fish turned up dead along the shores of a river about 20 miles??? away. The first set of birds is said to have died from bleeding due to internal caused by blunt force. Toxicology tests won't be out on the fish for a month. Was it caused by supersonic warfare games? The Air Force has a laboratory at the University of Arkansas. Was it caused by fracking? Someone on the Astro.com forum posted an article about how the amount of earthquakes related to "fracking" has increased in Arkansas by a huge amount over the year 2010.

I sort of wonder if this isn't related to the intensity of the recent Total Lunar Eclipse which also occurred within 12 hours of the Winter Solstice. Maybe even more important would be the conjunction of Mars and Pluto to the Sun and North Node in Capricorn. Pluto represents Death and Killings and Mass Killings, Mars represents Violence especially in combination with the Moon and Sun. There are strong Pisces influences in the charts which can show the end of the World vibe that people are relating to this: Neptune conjunct Chiron in Aquarius and Jupiter conjunct Uranus in Pisces. The sign of Capricorn might indicate Government or Corporate Involvement, or just Men With Serious God Complexes. Maybe it's just the Swiss needing to adjust the Axis of the Earth in order to keep their watches ticking perfectly. Perhaps the Frackers figure they better hurry up before someone catches on to their act as well? Either way, Fracking is both violent and gives off noxious gases. There's a great documentary out there showing how toxic this is.

In Dec. 21, 2007 a flock of Purple Martins fell on to the streets of New York City. That just happens to be the Winter Solstice which seems related to the current event. There was no Mars-Pluto aspect on that day. Mars was in conjunction with Venus in Pluto's sign, however at 14-15 Scorpio. Pluto 18 Sagittarius and Sun 30 Sagittarius were opposing Saturn 26 Gemini.

The Most Recent Eclipse before this event would have been a Partial Solar Eclipse which occurred on Setp. 11, 2007. It does have a Mars-Pluto-Sun-Moon-NN connection. This was a New Moon (Sun-Moon conjunction) at 19 Virgo which was in a Grand Square to Mars 22 Gemini opposing Pluto 27 Sagittarius.

I hope to come back to this at some point to look for more charts of die offs.

For conspiracy theory comparisons there is something called the Dugway Sheep Kill Incident in which 6,249 Sheep were found murdered in Skull Valley. Mars (War) was in Aries conjunct the North Node and Saturn in Aries. Uranus and Pluto were in conjunction in Virgo opposing Sun-Chiron in Pisces. All kinds of tests were done on the sheep. These are good charts to use for comparison in trying to understand if the military were involved.

Boycott "Mel's" Strawberries

The California Coast doesn't get the conventional seasonal weather. Our "weather" is composed of much different factors. We have a rainy season which varies widely each year. Often there is a week of freezing temperatures which can kill much of the Citrus crops. Succulents which are outside sort of deflate like balloons. Then during the Summer we have "brown out" in which most of the landscape along the coastline turns yellows and orange and brown. I like to think that there are Earthquake Seasons although that's not based on any kind of regular rhythm. Northern California often has earthquakes during April and October. Southern California has them during January and July. And there are no set rules for this.

A few years ago while living in Watsonville which is an agricultural area south of Santa Cruz and north of Monterey, I got to learn about "the Pesticide Seasons." The locals don't like to talk about this. Sometimes you hear about 20 year old kids getting leukemia and colon cancer and stuff like that. And people drive like total assholes during these times due to uncontrollable fits of rage that seem to come from nowhere.

I lived out in the middle of some apple orchards. Twice during the year that I lived there helicopters would fly overhead all night long and the next day I would feel really sick.

So, around January, the ground is prepared (disinfected) for planting of strawberries. They blast it with pesticides so that a certain type of insect that destroys the Strawberry crop can't live. Every year it's bad. The locals won't say anything. I just remember people saying they had headaches. They would also walk really rigid and some people got Parkinson's.

My cat developed a stomach Cancer in January and died in February. I went to an animal grief group with two other women who lived within a mile of where I had lived (I actually moved at the end of that January). My cat was already old and sickly. But the other two women had young animals who died unexpectedly.

This year, for some reason, the farmers have decided to begin using a Pesticide which is even more toxic than the one which was probably used the year that I lived in Watsonville. They are doing this for the money and for whatever other reason. The immigrants who spray the chemicals often don't use them correctly. I remember that once they just dropped some big canisters of a highly toxic pesticide on the side of the road because they didn't know what to do with it.

RIP Paul The Octopus

Paul the Octopus, who predicted the outcome of the World Cup Scores from his tank in Germany, died yesterday. I talked about him previously and just took another look at his chart. He embodies the Neptune-Chiron conjunction in Aquarius. He was born while the North Node was at the end of Aquarius as well and has died just as the Neptune-Chiron conjunction was about to pass over that point. Highly psychic. Able to communicate across all boundaries. He knew what we were thinking and we don't have a clue what he was thinking. Paul was either a Capricorn or an Aquarius Sun.

At any rate, Paul was born in January, 2008 according to Wikipedia. He was perhaps born during a Mars Retrograde in Gemini which opposed Jupiter and Pluto. This means that he would have had great interest in Sports and all forms of competition.

Greenland's Petermann Ice Island (2010)

The biggest piece of ice to break off the Greenland Ice Sheet since 1962 occurred last week. Dubbed "the Petermann Ice Island of 2010" (to distinguish from the smaller piece that broke off in 2008) it's bigger than the island of Manhattan and is now threatening to collide with ships and researchers up in the arctic.

I may not be using the correct time zone so the Asc and MC may be a bit off, but it looks as if the huge t-square is again on the angles in this chart with Pluto-NN down at the bottom of the wheel in the 4th House. The Gemini Moon was up at the top of the chart conjunct the Midheaven.

Mercury is very strong in this chart as it is ruling both the Ascendant and the Midheaven and Mercury was in conjunction with the Ascendant. And it disposits the Gemini Moon which is conjunct the angle and most elevated, as I said.

No planets in Water in this chart which stresses the presences of the angular water rulers, Moon and Pluto, even more.

The last time a piece of glacier this big broke off was in 1962. I don't have a month to hone the date down for the 1962 break, but during that year Uranus passed between the cusp of Leo and Virgo and was in wide conjunction to Pluto in early Virgo. Jupiter was opposing the two from Aquarius to Pisces for the latter half of the year.

So, there is outer planet similarity between the two events. Perhaps Jupiter (big stuff) in difficult aspect with Uranus-Pluto can indicate when the Greenland Ice Sheet has big breakages? It could be the entrance of Pluto into an Earth Sign as well in addition to being in aspect with Jupiter and Uranus which could be an indicator of problems.

Saturn rules Carbon and the measurements of Carbon emissions for Global Warming were just beginning to be understood around this time. But Saturn wasn't quite connected with the other planets in 1962. (It was in major opposition aspect by 1965).

The Northern half of the Globe has been having unusual heat waves both in Canada and Russia. Pakistan is having massive flooding, declaring this their worst natural disaster, and China is having massive landslides.

Hey, hasn't Iceland built an Ark or something? I think that's where the seed bank is. Who knows, maybe the seed bank is in the glacier that's now roaming free range up in the Arctic.

Paul the Octopus

According to an anonymous donor on Answers.com, Paul the Octopus was born in January, 2008 in Weymouth England. Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_%28octopus%29.

This matches what I heard on the radio in an interview with Paul's person who said that Paul is 2 1/2 years old. That's very old for an octopus, and Paul is now said to be exhausted and going into retirement. Considering that Paul probably has his share of planets in Capricorn, the sign of the old goat, I think it's great that Paul became famous for sharing his great wisdoms at such an old age.

So I had heard a long time ago that Octopi are the most sensitive creatures on earth. This is proof. Paul predicted World Cup wins with 100 percent accuracy this year. 7 for 7. Where can one find that kind of talent among the human set? No where. That's where. I almost got sick watching some idiot reporter on CNN cracking jokes about eating Paul. She was throwing a dead Octopus around and making sushi chef jokes.

Paul would have been born during a Jupiter-Pluto conjunction over the cusp of Sagittarius and Capricorn. Pluto changed signs during January, 2008, which is a very significant occurance as well because Pluto's orbit is so long and transit so slow. If Paul were born towards the end of the month Paul would have Pluto at 1 Capricorn opposing a Mars Retrograde in Gemini. Gemini rules the arms and Mars rules the Head so it's pretty interesting that an octopus who is all arms and head with this aspect becomes famous. That certainly assures Paul a moment of fame in his life. Perhaps this is a break through moment in inter-species communications and respect although from what I saw from the CNN reporter maybe not.

I think that Beethoven had both Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn and I can certainly see that this is a combination that bestows great genius. Add the Mars and I guess we get someone with good aim, whether physically or psychically, I doubt the Stars care.

Of course, it wouldn't hurt to add a Uranus-Neptune mutual reception to one's astrological composite for great psychic abilities. Paul probably reincarnates at the drop of a hat.

Mercury was in Capricorn-Aquarius during January. Venus was in Sagittarius and Capricorn during that month. There was a total Lunar Eclipse the next month in February.

Engineering Disasters and the Jupiter-Uranus Conjunction

The movie Chinatown is about the guy who created what is known as "the worst US civil engineering disaster of the 20th century." I've been told a zillion times to see that movie but never have. Basically, Los Angeles wouldn't be able to exist if it hadn't been for William Mulholland, a self trained engineer who immigrated from Belfast Ireland in the late 19th Century. Mulholland diverted all kinds of rivers from the Central Inland California region and pretty much drained the Central Valley of its lush, fertile land in order to create Los Angeles. (And then the Klan moved in.)

I guess there weren't any manuals on how to build a damn back in those days. You just sat by the riverbed and watched the beavers do it and then tried to do it yourself. It looks like we might be better off letting the beavers do it, whatever the case, even now. The Chinese have built huge dams and have had successive huge earthquakes since which may or may not be related. And Orange County is drinking its own pee. And San Diego's water has tested as the worst in the country (or close to, I don't have the stats in front of me).

Anyway, Mulholland was a genius until he screwed up. On Mar. 12, 1928 just hours after he had personally inspected it the St. Francis Dam gave way and flooded Ventura all the way from the Mountains down to the ocean. A town called Santa Paula was completely washed away. There were more than 400 deaths. Mulholland's career ended and he spent the rest of his Sun in Virgo life self-flagellating. Supposedly, the problem was not entirely his fault. They just didn't know how to build dams.

Story sound like today? Of course it does. The BP Oil Disaster down in the Gulf of Mexico shares some amazing similarities with the St. Francis Damn Disaster astro-wise. Different Century. Same extreme level of catastrophe. Striking similarities to outer planet activity.

Don't mean to be flip about what a horror this is (I've bit a huge hole in my cheek watching the birds covered in the oil and the people breathing fumes and finally had to turn off CNN and go for a walk) but just hope this will be readable so am trying to make brief:

I've studied this chart before but never published anything. It's really fascinating to connect the State of California's Sun in Virgo opposition to Neptune with with Mulholland's Sun in Virgo opposite Neptune in Pisces.

California has a singleton Neptune in Pisces which is why the water wars are such a big deal here (along with the fact that most of the state is desert, duh). Mulholland's chart was completely hooked into the California water supply. Too bad about his catastrophe prone Pluto conjunct NN 5-7 Taurus and squaring Mars 7 Leo. That gives the kind of superhuman will to get things going, but can overdo a bit.

God love the Brits but they simply can't get their whirligigs to spin. We really need to leave the engineering miracles to the Germans and the Japanese. Maybe their Math skills sucks. Maybe they're doing it on purpose. But don't let them build anymore Damns or Oil Rigs. Something's wrong with their Mercuries and Uranii and Saturns.

I don't know what the Hell Tony did wrong. Maybe that's because he's a Gemini and that's my Rising Sign and I feel partly responsible through my guilt tripping Cap Moon. Mostly it's because I don't see "Big Stupid Corporate Animal" indicators in his chart. It's interesting to notice that both Mulholland and Hayward have Nodal Axes on the Taurus-Scorpio pole. Komilla Sutton isn't kidding when she says that these guys have extra rows to hoe in life.

And what I said about the Germans being good at engineering? Scratch that. Tony came on board back in 2007. He didn't install the rig. He probably didn't even know it was out there. The Oil Rig was already set in place down in the Gulf back in 2001. Remember it was when the Saturn-Pluto opposition was going ape face. At that point a German born guy named John Browne had been running BP for centuries. This guy's got the ugly chart we're looking for too. Not because he's bad. He's obviously good. He was on the forefront of trying to turn BP into a Green company. But his chart, eh, it looks guilty. Browne has a Jupiter-Uranus opposition in Gemini-Sagittarius. That shows the environmentally friendliness and engineering stuff. But this opposition would have been hit by the Saturn-Pluto opposition of 2001.

Browne's got natal Sun conjunct Mercury RX at 1 Pisces opposing Mars 27 Leo Rx. He's also got the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Leo that was going on during his birth year in earlier degrees of Leo. Because of Mars' Rx it has been in conjunction with Saturn and Pluto for all of his life. That's a difficult aspect for Karma coming back to bite you in the ass. Others born around that time are Al Gore, Hillary Clinton, Bill Richardson, and Barbara Bush. All these great people who are somehow connected with other people's problems and power plays in ways that are mind-boggling.

I don't have anything intelligent to say about what has happened in the Gulf. I just hope that people in charge of doing big projects like this try to put a little extra attention into putting in security cautions at this point. We still have the Eclipses and the Pluto-NN conjunction coming up over the rest of the year.

Apples to Oranges

For some dumb reason I started wondering what signs various fruits and nuts are. I've mentioned several species of wildlife and what signs they tend to be. Most are born in Spring and Summer, of course, for practical reasons.

Back when I tried to garden I remember reading the seed packets to see when to plant vegetables and herbs. They don't generally grow in the middle of Winter no matter what but I do remember that most have particular time lines which distinguish them from each other. Some that grew better in early Spring mid-Summer, or early Fall than in middle of Winter.

In Northern Climates there will be a lot more Taurus, Gemini, Cancer and Leo foods than the others. In warmer climates many foods are harvested in Winter. So that means that Californians and Floridians get to eat more Capricorns, Aquarians and Pisces than New Englanders and Wisconsinites (whatever they call themselves).

So, I was thinking about Apples. They are from Washington State and New England mostly and are harvested in late Summer and Fall. They are Virgos. And that saying "An Apple a day keeps the Doctor away." How Virgo is that? Health, Doctors, and Daily Habits. And just think of the Biblical connection with the sign of Libra and Eve. Isn't it interesting how the innocent apple hanging on the tree became the seductress fruit of the serpent? Maybe Apples born under the sign of Scorpio are poisonous. Seems a bit late in the season.

Then I was thinking about Oranges. And, because I live in California, I know how incredible it is to walk down a street in December and see a lush green tree full of these beautiful orange globes. If there is a freeze, which often occurs for about a week in either December or January, a season's crop will be destroyed.

It turns out that Valencia Oranges follow the average Springtime Harvest so most of these fruits will be Aries and Tauruses.

Naval Oranges have their peak season in mid-winter to early spring. This means that they are probably mostly Aquarians and Pisces. They come along with their Vitamin C right at cold and flu season.

Oil Rig Disasters: Santa Barbara 1969 and Gulf of Mexico 2010

I grew up in the 60s a Southern California Beach town when it was sort of considered normal to find dead seagulls lying on the beach covered in oil. We'd have to use paint thinner to take the tar off the bottoms of our feet when we got home from the beach. It didn't happen every day. We thought of tar and oil as sort of a weather system, like a red tide or something.

Adults would tell us stories about all the sea life that had existed. They said it had all been fished out. The Abalone. The Barracuda. I wonder if all the creatures had actually been killed by the oil rigs that were up on the coast in Santa Barbara. Maybe there were some farther down the coast. I think they definitely must have been leaking because I know the tar was always on our feet even before the big Blow Out in Santa Barbara in 1969.

Boy, that transit of Pluto through Virgo was important to help us all figure out how bad things were getting. California has been fighting the oil drilling ever since.

In 1969 there was a significant Oil Spill off a rig on the coast line of Santa Barbara so I thought I'd look at the chart for that accident and compare it with the Deepwater Horizon Oil Multa Mega Catastrophe that's going on down in the Gulf.

Right after this particular spill started the experts I saw interviewed on TV were saying that the spill wouldn't be capped off until August. They knew this immediately. But, the media keeps reporting on multiple failed attempts to cap the thing off. It's 6 miles down under the water and can only be reached by robots. More Saturn-Uranus-Pluto robots imagery.

The most significant factors I can see right off the bat are that both charts have Mercury Retrograde, Neptune (ruler of Oil) at same 29 degree of Fixed Signs (Resources). And both charts have a conjunction of Jupiter to Uranus which is involved in large opposition aspects with other planets and points over the cusp axis between Virgo/Libra and Pisces/Aries.

Jupiter and Uranus have a conjunction roughly every 13 years or so probably. I'm guesstimating on that figure.

It sort of looks like Mother Nature likes to put man in his place when these big oppositions hit the Aries Point Axis. Either way, the Deepwater Horizon spill is now considered the worst oil spill in U.S. History and seems to be getting worse every day.

It's pretty easy to interpret Jupiter and Uranus working together as creating a "Blow Out". Jupiter can expand uncontrollably and Uranus acts in unexpected and quick ways. Saturn-Uranus-Pluto working in a t-square together shows that weaknesses in infrastructures will break or fall apart.

The conjunction for the Santa Barbara spill was at 4-6 Libra with Uranus conjunct the South Node to the degree at 4 Libra. Venus is conjunct Chiron (25 and 30 degrees Pisces) and the North Node at 4 Aries. Pluto was not far away from these two back at 25 Virgo opposing Venus at 26 Pisces.

The Jupiter-Uranus conjunction for Deepwater Horizon disaster is at Pisces at 22-29 degrees and opposing Saturn 30 Virgo. The conjunction is placed in the 4th House which rules the ocean. This gives significance to the opposition as it places the opposition on the angles. Pluto is conjunct the 2d House cusp in Capricorn. Kind of interesting that it wasn't quite on an angle and was taking a breather from close aspect to either Saturn or Uranus. In both case Pluto is within about 10 degree orb of conjunction to the Nodal Axis (SN for SB, and NN for Gulf).

Mercury is Retrograde in both charts. In the Santa Barbara Oil Spill Mercury Rx is at 10 Aquarius conjunct the Sun within a degree. It's trining Jupiter-Uranus.

In the Deepwater Horizon blow out Mercury Rx is at 13 Taurus trining Pluto and the NN and squaring Mars Leo. This it appears is one of those situations that shows how trines can let things fall apart.

One would expect Neptune, Pluto and the Moon to be involved more heavily in the charts because the disasters occurred in the Ocean. Neptune rules Oil so one would expect its presence to be strong. Chiron happens to be in Pisces in both charts at either end of the sign. I suppose that this means that in such situations this is a man made disaster?

Neptune in both charts is on the 29th degree of a Fixed Sign. 29 Scorpio for Santa Barbara. 29 Aquarius for Gulf of Mexico. Mars is in Scorpio and Leo respectively so is also placed in Fixed Signs but not within orb of aspect with Neptune.

Oil Rig Explosion and Spill in Gulf of Mexico

Oil has been spewing out into the Gulf of Mexico for the past week ever since an Oil Rig exploded. 126 people were on board the rig, all have been recovered except for 11 who are still missing and presumed dead. The Rig sank 2 days after the explosion.

Oil keeps spewing from the pipes which were drilled into the ocean floor and the Spill apparently can't be contained. Jupiter in Pisces?

Attempts were made to set the oil on fire in order to keep it from reaching shore which will cause an environmental catastrophe but these have failed. Reports are now saying that spillage will begin to reach shore tonight.

The conjunction of Jupiter to Uranus in Pisces has been passing over the 4th House and IC around 10:00 pm every night this past month. 4th House = Environment. Pisces = Ocean and Oil and things that can't be contained along with Jupiter. Jupiter-Uranus is opposing Saturn in Virgo Rx. The cause for the spill is thought to be a "Blowout" but is still undetermined.

Please pray that somebody can figure out a way to solve this problem soon.

Oil keeps spewing, can't be contained and will reach shore tonight, Apr. 29, 2010. This is just after the Scorpio Full Moon where Sun was conjunct Mercury Rx to the degree. Moon will be in early degrees Sagittarius tonight which is conjunct the ASC of the explosion.

The Rig was made by Hyundai of South Korea in 2001. Guess you'd expect something made during a Saturn-Pluto opposition to fall apart during a Saturn-Pluto square...

The second worst oil spill of all time also occurred in the Gulf of Mexico back in 1979. Saturn was in Virgo at that point as well (conjunct the North Node).

Ready For Your Close Up, Old Man

Rachel Sussman is a photographer who has been traveling around the world taking pictures of the world's oldest living organisms.

She was written about in a recent New Scientist Magazine article (April something something). Some of her photos are included on New Scientist website along with her own website.

I was happy to find that California, land that currently builds most buildings with the idea that they will be standing for only about 20 years, also houses a large percentage of the world's least transient plants.

We have Sequoias in the Mountains, and Creosote Bushes in the Mohave and down by L.A. in the White Mountains there is an old pine tree called "The Old Man" which is thought to be the world's oldest tree, currently about 4773 years old.

Things that grow very old are said to grow very slowly. Old Man stays alive by looking like he's dead all over except for one branch which sprouts leaves at a time. In 2002 he was said to be 4767 years old! That's where I tried to get his current date from.

This means that he would have sprouted around 2765 B.C. give or take a year and a typo or two.

In 2765 B.C. exactly there was a conjunction of Jupiter-Saturn and the North Node in Cancer which opposed Neptune at 2 Capricorn. So, Pluto is passing over Old Man's natal Neptune. Kind of interesting that his picture gets taken right now and presented to the World. That is an Aries Point which brings one before the world (according to Noel Tyl). Pluto rules "Fame" and Neptune rules "Photography." Let's hope it doesn't equal another of Noel Tyl's explanation of Neptune-Pluto transits which is "Wipe Out."

Either way Old Man has got some Cardinal Sign action going right now in his chart if this is the correct date. Pluto was in mid-Taurus back then. This means that both Saturn and Pluto were in signs of their detriment. Old Man's whereabouts are kept hidden in order to keep people away. Hope this secret is maintained. Probably some pot growers will think he's a weed and douse him with Round-Up. I guess an actual researcher murdered another very old tree.

Uranus, planet of cycles and returns imo, is in Pisces. So, Old Man's been going through a Uranus Return right now.

Bjork Sings to the Earth And ...

Those triple Scorpios are manifesters, that's for sure. Plutonian Icelandic Singer Bjork sang to the sick earth and now the mountains are screaming from underneath the glaciers. And, except for the Icelanders who have been evacuated, this could be a good thing if it doesn't go for too long. I read a while back that we were needing a volcano to erupt because a little ash in the ionosphere could stave off Global Warming for a while. (Don't know if that's true, and things could cool things down too much if the volcano erupts for too long).

On the Spring Solstice (March 20) a volcano in the southern part of Iceland erupted. Yesterday it erupted again in what is said to be 10-20 times more powerful reaction. That was the Aries New Moon!

Ash is spilling out into the skies and air transport is called off due to low visibility. People have been evacuated. This is expected to continue for a couple more months. If the lava melts some of the neighboring glaciers another volcano may erupt and this could send the earth into a deep freeze.

Wow, this is definitely triple Scorpio stuff. Whatever's been bottled up will eventually spew out. Pluto is conjunct Bjork's natal Mars. And she was born during the Uranus-Pluto conjunction and opposition to Saturn of 1965. This opposition is layered over her natal IC/MC Axis! It mirrors the current t-square between these 3 Outer Planets right now. (IC represents 4th house and environment and geology). Her chart at Astrotheme. The first eruption happened right on the Spring Solstice. I wrote a little bit about it here and unfortunately didn't add the exact time and location:

Iceland has caught the brunt of the geological tension today as one of its Volcanoes erupted. The news reports said that around 500 people were evacuated. The volcano is in the Southern part of Iceland about 100 miles from Reykjavik.

The houses for Placidus don't really work that far up North. I'm not sure what house system they use. This chart is amazing just by placement of the planets. The Sun is on the Spring Equinox point conjunct Uranus.

This conjunction is in the big t-square formation with Saturn 1 Libra and Pluto 6 Capricorn. It is also trining Mars 1 Leo to the the degree.

Neptune-Chiron are conjunct the IC in Aquarius.

The last time this volcano erupted was from December 1821 to January 1823. At that point, Uranus and Neptune were in conjunction at the beginning of Capricorn where Pluto is right now. Pluto was at 28 Pisces very close to the Aries Point.

So it looks like Iceland is affected by early Cardinal Sign outer planet activity. I guess that Bjork was the Lava that came out during the Uranus-Neptune conjunction in Capricorn back in the early 90s.

Well, the Scientists were saying that a volcano could buy us some time with keeping Global Warming at bay.
